Chapter 27: Kami-sama Is My Role Model!

Looking at Sakayanagi Arisu before her, Kamuro Masumi bit her lip slightly.

Only a few days had passed since the start of school, yet she had already fallen into the role of the other girl's follower... It could be said she brought this on herself.

Her personality had a defect: she was obsessed with shoplifting. She wasn't actually interested in the items she stole; she simply enjoyed the thrill that theft provided. Before enrolling at Advanced Nurturing High School, her shoplifting had never been discovered, which was why she was assigned to Class A.

Until... the first day of school.

After the entrance ceremony, Kamuro Masumi went to the school convenience store and stole a can of beer—but she was caught by Sakayanagi Arisu. Sakayanagi took a liking to Kamuro's dexterity, kept the stolen beer for her, and used it as leverage to force Kamuro to become her subordinate.

Kamuro Masumi had to admit that the girl named Sakayanagi Arisu was indeed on a remarkably superior level.

"Masumi-san, I originally wasn't interested in those lower classes, but now, I've changed my mind a little," Sakayanagi Arisu said with a smile after taking a small sip of her coffee.

Within just a few days of school starting, Sakayanagi had also discovered the school's rules. She already possessed an exceptionally brilliant mind—moreover, Sakayanagi Arisu's father was the Chairman of this school.

She had been frail and sickly since childhood, so in the physical evaluation category of the entrance assessment, she was ranked at the lowest level. No matter how excellent her academic grades were, her physical condition dictated that Sakayanagi Arisu should not have entered Class A; she should have only been sent to Class C or D.

However, because her father was the Chairman, Sakayanagi successfully entered Class A. In just a few short days, she had already established her own faction within the class. Of course, there was someone in the class who seemed like a potential rival, but Sakayanagi didn't care about them.

With her arrogant personality, Sakayanagi Arisu was like a queen. The only person who interested her slightly was a boy in Class C named Ryuen Kakeru. In just a few days, he had completely seized control of his class and become the leader.

As for Class D, Sakayanagi hadn't cared about them at all.

Until just now, when a classmate in Class A received a message from Class D, revealing that their class was also aware of the school's rules. Sakayanagi hadn't expected the class ranked dead last to obtain information in such a short amount of time.

"Perhaps Class D has some rather interesting fellows."

"I find it a bit strange, though," Kamuro Masumi said, sounding puzzled. "If Class D already knew the information, why would they proactively share it? Although some in our Class A knew about the S-System in advance—and even those who didn't, nearly all the students follow classroom discipline and won't lose many points—if Class D had kept this secret to themselves, they could have narrowed the gap with the other two classes and perhaps even overtaken Class C, right?"

"Perhaps Class D has its own unstable elements as well~" Sakayanagi Arisu said with a smile as she finished the rest of her coffee.

She picked up the cane resting by the table, supported her small body, and stood up. "We should be heading back too."

After parting ways with Sakura Airi, Katsuragi Keima returned to the door of his dormitory.

"I cleared another game today. I'll find a chance to write up the walkthrough tonight."

With a smile on his face, Keima opened the dorm door and walked in.

"God-sama! Help me!"

Right then, a figure dashed out and lunged toward Katsuragi Keima.

"Ahhh!"

Startled, Keima took a step back and tumbled to the ground. Elsie, who had just rushed out, was so overexcited that she stumbled and fell face-first onto the floor.

Keima's first instinct was to check his handheld. After confirming the machine was unharmed, he let out a long sigh of relief and stood up.

"Thank goodness it's okay... You! What are you doing?!"

Keima questioned her sharply, then looked around to ensure no one had seen him with Elsie before pulling her quickly into the room.

"Kami-sama!"

"First, tell me—how on earth did you get into my room?! I locked it!" Keima demanded immediately after closing the door.

Every student's dormitory was equipped with an electronic lock that could only be opened using their respective student terminals. How was Elsie able to appear in his room?

"I just had to manifest a key!" Elsie said, producing something that looked like an access card.

Using her raiment, Elsie could manifest all sorts of things. Lock-picking tools were no exception.

"Huh? Didn't I tell you not to use those powers recklessly?!"

"I didn't use it recklessly! I manifested it in my own room! There are definitely no cameras in the rooms!"

"If there were cameras in the rooms, it would be illegal! And even if there are no cameras in the rooms, the hallway cameras probably caught you opening my door!"

"Don't worry, I covered my face!" Elsie said, pulling out a black plastic bag.

"You don't seem to be very bright, do you?"

"I can't help it! Kami-sama! Help me!"

"What do you actually want?"

"I'm talking about what happens later! What about the midterms and finals? Sensei said anyone who fails will be expelled! It would be terrible if I got expelled!"

"That's why I told you last time to study hard!" Keima sighed with utter helplessness. "I can tutor you, but you need to understand the basic knowledge first... How much of those books you rented last time have you read?"

"I've basically finished them all! Before you came back, I even went to the library and read quite a few books with Shiina-san! I'm even planning to go back this weekend to rent a few more!"

"Really? You read that fast?" Keima was somewhat surprised.

"Because they're actually quite interesting! As for the vocabulary and such, I feel like there shouldn't be any problems!"

"Interesting? Wait... wait a minute. What kind of books were you reading?" Keima suddenly realized something was wrong.

" Murder on the Orient Express , Who Killed Me? , And Then There Were None ..."

"Do those books have even a cent's worth of connection to studying?! Are you studying or learning how to murder? And where did you find the time to read all those books?"

"In class, of course! I took Kami-sama as my role model for that!"

Elsie patted her chest with immense pride.
