The vision ended an he found lysander looking at him.
"Will you end up like that?"
"No as long I pass the trial I will be fine."
"Where do you begin?" he asked.
Kaelen gestured to the darkness beyond the chamber. "The trial is simple. I must descend into the dungeon. Find the heart of the darkness. Bind it to my will."
"That sounds simple right?" Kaelen added
"It is clearly not. The dungeon will fight you. It will try to break you. It will show you your deepest fears. Your greatest weaknesses. Everything you have ever tried to hide from yourself. If you fail, you will not leave."
Kaelen felt the weight of the words. He had faced the beast. He had faced the sacrifice. He had faced the Keeper and the Chronicle and the weight of centuries.
But this was different. This was the darkness itself.
"Lysander," he said. "I will not fail, I have your life in my hands I cannot carelessly use it."
