Inside a Yeti Cave in the Hillsbrad Foothills, a group of Horde players were dancing around five skeletons on the ground.
"The Alliance are such cowards. They've died over thirty times already, and now they don't even dare rez," the Undead Mage Highfive bragged in guild chat.
This group of Horde players all belonged to the same guild, PleasureWorld.
PleasureWorld was no major guild. It had only a little over a hundred members and was several tiers below Hall of Fame, the top Horde guild on the server, making it a lower-mid-tier guild.
"Hahaha, the Alliance are all cowards. They still dare fight us? With their trash skill level, I'll kill them one by one if they come alone, and wipe them all out if they come in a group."
Darkshiv, the Undead Rogue, brandished his daggers with the swagger of someone who thought the world belonged to him.
In reality, he had only picked up a few kills by following the group around. Back when they first fought David's five-man team, he had died the most. He was also the one who had called guild members over to corpse-camp David and the others.
"Where are those Alliance scrubs? I wanna come camp them too," someone in guild chat asked.
"Every Horde player should be killing Alliance trash."
Darkshiv said, "They're in the Yeti Cave west of Tarren Mill. There are only five of them, not enough to go around, so don't bother coming. I still want to kill them a few more times so they don't get scared and spirit rez."
David stared at the Horde dancing on top of his corpse, grinding his teeth.
"These Horde pigs are way too arrogant. Once the guild leader gets here, I'm going to kill them until they don't dare rez."
Susie was an absolute warmonger. Even though he had died the most times, he still chose to resurrect without hesitation.
"Enough talk. Rez and fight them to the bitter end. If we can't outlast them today, I'm deleting my character and quitting."
The resurrection timer ended, and Susie clicked resurrect.
David resurrected right after him.
SevenDays and DontPanicHealz hesitated for a moment, then clicked resurrect together.
MushroomHunter didn't really like fighting, but for the sake of pride, she ultimately chose to resurrect with everyone else. She didn't want this to drive a wedge between her and the group.
Five beams of light flashed, and all five of them resurrected.
"Holy shit, the Alliance dogs rezzed. Kill them!" The Troll Hunter LoneReaper, who had been sitting off to the side, hurriedly jumped to his feet and prepared to fire a Multi-Shot at David's group.
Baa!
Before LoneReaper could fire off Multi-Shot, he turned into a little white sheep and began spinning in circles.
"Holy crap, there are other Alliance here!"
Highfive was a Mage, so he knew exactly what had happened. LoneReaper had been sheeped, and none of the five Alliance players they had been camping were Mages.
Darkshiv had just been bragging in guild chat, but when he saw LoneReaper get sheeped, his face changed immediately. He hurriedly looked toward the entrance of the cave, and what he saw made his heart sink.
At the entrance of the Yeti Cave, Gabryell had arrived with the advance party to rescue them. The Polymorph just now had been cast by him.
"David, I'm here to save you guys!"
Igor's Paladin drew his two-handed sword and charged at the stunned Horde players.
Gabryell commanded, "Focus their healers first, especially the Shamans."
The other side did not have many healers, only three, and two of them were Shamans.
"What's a Shaman?" Smooch asked.
Gabryell said, "The ones throwing lightning and dropping sticks."
Smooch immediately understood.
"Got it. Shamans are Pikachu."
She searched among the thirteen Horde players ahead, trying to find the Pikachu that could shoot lightning.
"The guild leader is here!"
Gabryell and his eighteen-man raid stormed in like a cavalry charge, letting David and his four party members—who'd been corpse-camped into misery—finally see hope on the horizon.
MushroomHunter especially broke down crying the moment Gabryell and the others appeared. The guild had come. She wouldn't have to keep dying anymore.
No more words were needed. Gabryell's group charged straight at the thirteen Horde players ahead.
"Kill!"
David was beside himself with excitement and went in swinging wildly.
"Today I'm going to let you bastards know what it feels like to get corpse-camped. I'm camping your asses a hundred times."
"Damn it, Alliance reinforcements are here. Kill them!" Darkshiv sounded calm, but inwardly he was panicking more than anyone. He had already realized the Alliance reinforcements were all higher level, and there were more of them too.
Vanish.
Darkshiv, who had been acting so imposing a moment ago, immediately used Vanish, trying to ditch his teammates and run.
Gabryell spotted a Horde Rogue vanish. There was no way he was letting him escape. He Blinked forward and cast Frost Nova, freezing Darkshiv out of stealth, then followed up with Arcane Explosion. A level 34 Mage's Rank 3 Arcane Explosion instantly dealt heavy AoE damage to the surrounding Horde players.
"Burn down that Mage!"
Seeing Gabryell dive in alone, Highfive shouted at once. He knew very well that Mages were squishy. Focus fire should have killed him instantly.
But he was overthinking it. At level 34, Gabryell had already learned Ice Block. One Ice Block negated all the Horde's damage.
"Holy shit, what kind of skill is that?"
Ice Block was only available to Mages at level 30. Highfive, who was only level 27, was dumbfounded by the stream of immune notifications.
"You dared kill our Alliance brothers? Today we'll show you what happens when you push us too far."
Igor, who had charged in first, reached Highfive and slammed down a Hammer of Justice, stunning him.
"Pikachu, where's Pikachu?"
Smooch searched the Horde side for a Shaman who could throw lightning. The moment she saw one cast Chain Lightning, she excitedly fired an Aimed Shot at him.
Her luck was good. It crit, chunking the level 25 Shaman for a third of his health and scaring him so badly that he jumped off the ledge and fell to his death at the bottom of the cave.
"Hahaha, he fell to his death. These Horde pigs are so bad it hurts."
Smooch grinned from ear to ear when she saw the Shaman she had shot die from the fall.
"Snowy, I'm awesome, right? Stay behind me. I'll protect you," Smooch said to Snowlily behind her.
Snowlily was only level 20 and stayed in the back healing. The Horde had been scattered by Gabryell's charge, so they had no chance to reach her. She was perfectly safe.
Twenty-three against thirteen, with an average level of 30 against 25. They had the advantage in both numbers and levels, and the surprise attack had thrown the Horde into chaos. Gabryell's group crushed them so badly they completely fell apart.
"It really doesn't work without voice chat."
Gabryell shook his head as he watched the Horde fight with no coordination. If they'd had voice comms, they never would have fallen into such chaos. At the very least, they could have held out for a while.
It was a one-sided fight, and it ended quickly. In the current environment, where players still had little PvP experience, numerical and level advantages were enough to decide the outcome of a group fight.
"Don't kill Darkshiv."
When David saw that Darkshiv was low on health, he immediately stopped everyone.
"This bastard was the most arrogant. He even led the dancing on our corpses. Guild leader, sheep him. I'm going to make him suffer worse than corpse-camping."
"Alright."
Gabryell cast Polymorph and turned Darkshiv into a sheep.
Baa!
Darkshiv turned into a little sheep and spun in circles. All of his teammates were dead, leaving only him behind. He looked utterly pitiful.
"All kinds of gibberish."
Alliance and Horde couldn't understand each other's language, so when Darkshiv cursed in public chat, all Gabryell and the others saw was unreadable nonsense. Even so, they could guess exactly what he was saying.
He was definitely cursing them out.
"I'm going to camp them until the end of time."
Susie was even more ruthless. He dropped a cooking campfire right next to the sheeped Darkshiv, preparing to roast lamb while waiting for the Horde to resurrect so he could camp their corpses again.
