Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The Limit of Sacrifice

The night had grown heavy.

Mist spread over the river, and everything looked like a blurred dream. There was restlessness in the air, and a strange silence in the water.

Arian stood by the riverside.

Neela was beside him.

There was almost no distance between them now, yet within that closeness, there was an invisible weight—as if something was about to end.

"Tonight is different,"

Neela said softly.

Arian looked at her.

"Why?"

Neela stayed silent for a moment.

"Because tonight… I will either fully remain here, or completely disappear."

Arian's chest trembled.

"What do you mean?"

he asked.

Neela looked toward the river.

"The balance of this place is very fragile now. The more you hold onto me, the more real I become… but at the same time, this connection can pull me away too."

A cold wind passed.

"What does that mean?"

Arian asked.

Neela turned toward him.

"It means… if we can't stabilize this connection, I will be completely trapped within this place… and you will never be able to see me again."

Arian fell silent.

There was fear in his heart—but also determination.

"Then what should we do?"

he asked.

Neela stepped closer.

"There is a way,"

she said,

"but it's not easy."

"Whatever it is,"

Arian said firmly,

"I'll do it."

Neela looked into his eyes.

"You have to let me go."

The words struck like lightning.

Arian froze.

"Let you go…?"

he said slowly.

Neela nodded.

"Yes. True freedom comes when someone doesn't hold on too tightly."

Arian's hands began to tremble.

"But if I let you go… you'll disappear."

Neela smiled softly.

"I am already partly gone. You found me… now you have to let me go properly."

A long silence followed.

Tears filled Arian's eyes.

"This isn't right…"

he whispered.

Neela held his hand.

This touch felt more real than ever—warm.

"Love is not only about holding on,"

she said softly,

"sometimes, letting go is love too."

The air grew heavy.

Arian closed his eyes.

Inside him, a battle was raging—

between the fear of loss and doing what was right for Neela.

Finally, he slowly opened his eyes.

"I don't want to lose you,"

he said, his voice breaking.

Neela placed her hand on his forehead.

"You won't lose me… you will complete me."

A moment—

where time stood still.

Then Neela slowly stepped back.

"Now the choice is yours."

Arian took a deep breath.

There was a strange calm in his eyes.

He understood—

This love was not meant to be held by force.

It was something that finds its own path.

He said softly,

"I'm letting you go… but not from my heart."

Tears shimmered in Neela's eyes.

"Thank you…"

Just then—

The river began to glow unnaturally bright.

Neela's form started dissolving into the light.

A radiant aura surrounded her.

Arian stood still, watching.

His eyes were wet, but there was no hesitation in his gaze.

"Wherever you go…"

he whispered,

"I will remember you."

Neela smiled one last time.

Then—

She disappeared into the light.

The river became calm again.

The mist slowly faded away.

Arian stood there alone.

But this time, his loneliness was not empty.

There was a sense of completeness within him.

Because he knew—

Love never truly ends.

It only changes its form.
