Benedict's POV
The sentinels moved the second the gavel struck wood.
Two of them flanked me on either side. Their hands closed around my arms with enough pressure to make it clear they were not taking chances. A third sentinel moved behind Jaxson and secured him the same way.
We were escorted through the side exit while chaos continued behind us. Voices still carried from the hall. Shocked gasps. Arguments erupting between people who had sat in stunned silence just moments before.
They believed they had me cornered.
They thought Genevieve's dramatic performance and that snake Kaelen's calculated revelation had destroyed me completely.
They were mistaken.
The hallway beyond the chamber felt cooler. The noise faded here. Stone walls swallowed sound and made every footfall ring out sharp and clear. I kept my expression blank and my breathing steady. These guards didn't need to witness anything that looked like fear.
Fear belonged to men who had exhausted their choices.
