Chapter 21 [Instance: Desamar Town]
Pei Hening smiled faintly: "I'm sorry."
[I can bury you in money] It's clear that the value of this thing is higher than the price he offered.
He compromised, saying, "How about this, it's okay if we can't do business, can we at least be friends?"
Pei Hening shook her head. "Sorry... I have social anxiety."
He looked at her with a complicated expression; she didn't seem like someone with social anxiety!
"I apologize for my intrusion, please don't take it to heart."
Pei Hening nodded and looked away.
[I can bury you in money] He touched his face in confusion. Could it be that he looks like a really bad guy?
The one in charge of arranging the exam order was a black rabbit dressed in a suit, who gave off a very dangerous vibe—at least more dangerous than the white rabbit outside.
"Candidate number 18, get ready, it's your turn."
Pei Hening received number 18, and she took 002 to the exam hall.
As she walked towards the examination hall, she wondered if there were any tools available to detect other people's levels or talents.
If she has any, she'll have to find a way to get her hands on it.
"002, you're sure you'll pass the driving test, right?"
"Leave it to me, master."
Half an hour had passed when Pei Hening came out with her driver's license.
A driver's license is a small card with your personal information on it.
She unpacked an ice cream, put her driver's license in her pocket, and drove off to collect the boxes.
As she was driving, the mechanical female voice suddenly popped out.
"Congratulations to player [滴比滴比] for triggering the special dungeon 'Deshengma Town'. Inventory and items are disabled."
"Duplicates being deployed—"
"Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one!"
"Dungeon deployment complete!"
"Beep—Automatically triggering [Life and Death Together]—"

[Player Identity: Green, a new recruit at the detective agency]
[Character Profile: Timid, Introverted]
Pei Hening opened her eyes to find herself in an extremely luxurious living room.
Besides her, there were five other players in the living room.
Three men and two women.
She first noticed the male player hiding in the corner, who gave off a very dangerous vibe. He was tall, wearing a black hoodie with the hood covering his face, and casually disassembling and reassembling the gun in his hand—she felt a sense of familiarity with him.
The other two male players were dressed differently. One was wearing a dark brown casual suit and gold-rimmed glasses, looking quite refined, and carrying a laptop bag. The other was wearing a floral shirt and looked rather unserious, slowly smoking a cigarette.
The first female player had her hair tied up, wore black-rimmed glasses, a white uniform, and high heels. She sat on the sofa, holding a pretty little bag in her hand, but her face still looked a little confused, clearly not yet understanding the situation.
The second female player had her hair tied in a high ponytail, wore aggressive smoky makeup, and was dressed in a tight leather jacket and pants. She sat naturally on the sofa, playing with a silver pistol in her hand.
Pei Hening discovered that her original clothes had also been changed in the game, and the only thing she was still wearing was the pair of bracelets that Chu Xuange had given her.
She had long, flowing hair and wore a red cardigan, jeans, and high boots. She shifted her foot slightly—there was a dagger in her boot!
Pei Hening noticed someone was watching her. She looked up and saw it was the male player wearing a hood—Chu Xuange.
How could it be him?
Pei Hening was surprised!
A middle-aged man with a worried expression pushed open the door and entered. Upon seeing the players in the living room, his tense nerves relaxed a bit: "The kitchen has prepared the food. Let's go to the dining room first."
The man in the suit stood up, carrying his laptop bag, and pushed up his glasses: "Thank you for your hard work. Let's go eat."
The middle-aged man led them to the restaurant, whose decor continued the luxurious style of the living room.
Six perfectly seared steaks and six glasses of red wine were laid out on the table.
Pei Hening noticed that everyone had the exact same food in front of them.
"Mr. Coffey, please have your meal first."
After saying this, the middle-aged man left the restaurant.
The Mr. Coffey he was referring to was the man in the suit.
Chu Xuange walked over and sat down next to Pei Hening without making a sound.
He gently touched Pei Hening's leg, making her look at him.
After finishing his steak and side dishes, Chu Xuange poured red wine into his plate.
Pei Hening understood what he meant.
"Hey, why aren't you drinking red wine? It tastes pretty good."
The one speaking was the female player in the white uniform with her hair up. She was sitting directly opposite Pei Hening, and Pei Hening could also see her name tag. Her name was Winnie.
Chu Xuange didn't reply, as if he hadn't heard.
"I'm talking to you, are you deaf?" Winnie frowned, looking annoyed.
Coffey put down his fork and acted as a peacemaker: "Winnie, stop it. We have things to do later. Let's all drink less. Drinking will ruin things."
Winnie snorted, but ultimately didn't cause any more trouble.
Through this meal, Pei Hening learned that Winnie was a rich heiress and that working at the detective agency was just a way for her to experience life.
Kofi was the team leader for this trip; he used to be a resident of the town of De Saint-Mar.
The man in the floral shirt is Gardner, the heir to a detective agency. He has no interest in solving cases and was forced into the role.
Raman, who has a high ponytail, is a retired special police officer who is struggling financially and works at a detective agency because she needs money.
Chu Xuange, the most skilled fighter in the detective agency, was assigned to protect Gardner.
Pei Hening is a newcomer who's just there to learn from the experienced detectives.
After the meal, the middle-aged man came over with a set of keys: "The maid has already cleaned the guest rooms. I'll show you the way."
"This is troublesome."
The middle-aged man instructed, "The guest rooms are arranged on the third floor. The fourth floor is the private area of the master and mistress. You should not go up there casually, otherwise the master and mistress will be angry. The town has been quite unsettled lately. It is best to close the door and go to sleep after 10 pm and not go out."
Gardner chuckled sarcastically: "How long-winded. This godforsaken place of yours is indeed not peaceful, otherwise your young master would have gone missing?"
