Chapter 1 - The Night Everything Changed

"Push! Keep pushing, ma'am…" the voice of a nurse, filled with urgency, pierced through the air.

Ragged breathing escaped the lips of the woman in the process of childbirth.

The baby finally arrived, after a few more tense moments.

The nurse's face lit up with a smile, and she gestured to her coworker, signaling it was time to tell the husband.

With a nod, her coworker darted out, a grin mirroring her own.

The moment she walked out, she was met with a middle-aged man who was pacing around anxiously.

Although he tried to keep his facial expression calm, it was undeniable that he was nervous about the ongoing situation inside the hospital room.

Seeing the nurse step out, his anxiousness increased.

Suddenly, the nurse smiled and finally said candidly,

"Congratulations, sir!"

Her words made a wave of excitement burst through Amon's body as he quickly rushed into the hospital room.

Inside, his wife lay sprawled on the bed, her breathing uneven. The nurse stood beside her, gently wiping the little infant in her hands.

A faint, sweet scent of a newborn filled the room, spreading a warm, almost fragile atmosphere.

Upon looking at the little girl, the smile on Amon's face briefly stiffened. A flicker of shock appeared in his eyes before he quickly masked it.

Taking his daughter from the nurse, he smiled faintly and gently nudged her nose.

"What should we call you, my little princess?" The excitement in Amon's voice couldn't be contained. After all, the moment he laid eyes on his daughter…

A series of glowing words materialized in his line of sight.

In truth, Amon wasn't originally from this world.

Ten years ago, he transmigrated after dying in a plane crash.

His predecessor belonged to a noble family, but due to being unawakened, he was killed.

As such, after transmigrating, Amon quickly switched locations to stay as far away from them as possible.

A few years later, after perfectly blending into this world, he entered into a relationship with Kayla, and they married two years later.

Unfortunately, since he'd transmigrated, the system hadn't activated. Instead, only a blank screen responded whenever he summoned it.

Although Amon felt dissatisfied, he couldn't complain. He had a beautiful wife, and now a daughter…

That was the case until now… where a system had finally been added to the mix.

"How about the name we discussed?" Kayla gently interrupted Amon's thoughts.

He paused, then nodded.

Turning to the little infant with a serene expression, he smiled and said, "In that case, we'll call you Ciara… Ciara Moonstone."

As though acknowledging the beautiful name, Ciara's fingers reached out toward Amon's face.

Amon brought a finger closer, and she held it, her grip tightening as though she didn't want to let go.

"She really likes you, huh?" Kayla chuckled lightly.

Amon smiled in return. "Yeah, she does."

He played with Ciara for a little while before she drifted off to sleep.

Laying her on the small bed assigned to her, he turned to his wife.

"Are you alright, honey?"

Kayla let out a shaky breath, her face still filled with a smile. "Just tired, that's all."

"Get some rest, okay?" Amon said, leaning closer to give her a kiss.

"Okay," Kayla responded before waving him goodbye.

As soon as he left the hospital ward, a serious expression appeared on Amon's face.

Without hesitation, he called out in his heart, 'System.'

A blue holographic display appeared in his line of sight.

[Do You Wish to Sign In?]

'I can sign in?' Amon asked curiously, but received no reply.

Pondering for a moment, he glanced around before nodding inwardly.

The blue screen flashed, then displayed a new line of words.

[Due to This Being Your First Sign-In with the System, You Have Received Heaven-Defying Rewards!]

[Congratulations on Obtaining the Elegant Netherblade Sword Technique. Rank: Divine.]

[Congratulations on Receiving the Enhanced Primordial Physique. Rank: Divine.]

[Congratulations on Receiving the Winter Frost Blade. Rank: Divine.]

Reading through the system's words, a shocked expression appeared on Amon's face.

'What the hell is Divine Rank?'

Based on his memories, the highest rank on Earth was the Mythical Rank.

Items of such rank were so rare that only three had been discovered in the entire world.

One had to know how vast this planet was, at least ten times larger than Earth.

Even then, only three Mythical items had ever been discovered, with no Divine items in existence…

Just the thought made Amon's head feel slightly bloated.

Suddenly, he felt his body undergoing a profound change. At the same time, information about a sword technique poured into his mind.

Amon could feel his strength increasing at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Closing his eyes, he basked in the surge while trying to assimilate the profound technique flooding his mind.

Time passed.

Before long, Amon's body had changed completely.

Previously 5'10, he now stood at 6'3. Every trace of excess fat had been stripped away, leaving behind a perfectly sculpted physique.

His eyes carried a faint, precise coldness, shaped by the sword technique embedded in his mind.

Amon touched his face in shock, not expecting such a drastic transformation…

'This is… crazy…'

He exhaled slowly.

Hearing footsteps, he turned toward the source and noticed his co-worker approaching from a distance.

'My sight, smell, and hearing… all enhanced…' Amon analyzed inwardly.

A few seconds later, his co-worker, Devon, reached him.

Grinning, he said, "Congrats, man. You're a father now!"

Amon returned the smile and nodded.

"Yeah… it's the start of a crazy new life."

The two fell silent.

Devon already knew Amon wasn't one for many words. After a brief hesitation, a conflicted look appeared on his face before he spoke.

"Hey… have you heard what's been happening lately?"

Amon raised a brow slightly, waiting.

"I heard there's a cult causing trouble for the Awakener's Association."

Amon's eyes narrowed.

Devon let out a breath, then lowered his voice.

"That's not even the main issue… they've been targeting children. Infants."

A brief pause.

"…and sacrificing them."

"What?" Amon's expression darkened instantly.

Looking closely at Devon, he found no trace of deceit. His brows furrowed, his fist tightening slightly.

"An organisation that kidnaps infants…" his voice turned cold.

"They better not set their sights on my daughter…"

A faint killing intent flickered in his

eyes.

"…or I'll wipe them out."

To Devon, it sounded like a joke.

After all, what could an ordinary man like Amon do?

But—

one should never underestimate the resolve of a father.
