Chapter 12 - Grief

(Omar leaves the letters and goes to sleep)

(The next day comes)

(He goes to wash up. After he finishes, he finds Hova with her head on the table, crying, with the letters in her hand)

Omar: What happened to you? Why are you crying like this? Did you read the letters?

Hova: A long time passed in a short period. We are in 2037. You must read the letters.

Letter 1: Hello Omar, I want to thank you for what you did for me. Tom told me everything. Count on me. The company has started to grow now. The first game is your story;

we named it "Journey of the Covenant." I will send you all the updates soon.

Letter 2: The game was a success. I had someone named Mark take over the project;

he seems nice.

Letter 3: Do you remember Mark? I talked to him and went on a first date with him. It was a lot of fun.

Letter 4: We've decided to make a second part of the game; it's the second part of your story with improvements.

Letter 5: I met a friend in the field of psychology. I think I'll leave the game project for now to start my career in psychology.

Letter 6: I had a fight with Mark about something, and I really don't understand why he did it. But I'm waiting for him to come back and apologize.

Letter 7: He came back, but with a ring. He wants to get married. I'm still thinking about it.

Letter 8: I got married. Tom came to the wedding to congratulate me. I really didn't expect to see him.

Letter 9: I might not be able to send many letters from now on, because I'm focusing on my husband and the company. I will try to send letters from time to time.

Omar: Her life seems beautiful.

Hova: Just keep reading.

Letter 10: I left the company with Mark; he's the president now and I'm the owner.

And I'm working, despite having a lot of money, as a doctor. I managed to get my name in the biggest magazines. I'm waiting for you to come back so I can treat you, boss.

Letter 11: We've reached the year 2013. Things are really good, Max. I'm now five months pregnant with my daughter. Mark and I agreed to name her Gwen.

Letter 12: Things didn't go well in the end. I broke up with Mark. I told him my story with you and that I'm still sending you letters. He got angry, even though he knows you don't reply to the letters. But for him, I love you more than him.

Letter 13: He left the company and went to a rival company. Really, it seems he's that angry.

Letter 14: He didn't want my daughter, and I didn't want to take alimony from him. You know I have enough for me and my daughter; I don't need his money. And I will be her mother and father if she needs it.

Letter 15: I couldn't send you letters in the past period. We made a new game and managed to finish the story you sent by putting the ending on the continent you mentioned.

Letter 16: The last time I sent you a letter was last week. You might think not much has happened, but in fact, during this week I met a handsome man named Ted,

but I don't think I'll continue with him. I don't want to get into a relationship anymore after my breakup with Mark. I don't really know. I wish you were here to answer me.

Letter 17: I don't know how to tell you this, but I met an old man, in his 60s,

he was a Muslim, he seems like a kind man. I've been thinking about becoming a Muslim for a long time because of you too. He invited me to dinner with his wife.

Letter 18: I converted to Islam. I never thought one day I would do this, but I did it.

Letter 19: The grandparents died, this is really sad. But it's okay, I have my daughter.

My daughter is now 10 years old, she is so beautiful. I hope you see her when you come back.

Letter 20: I really had one question: will you come back? Because I'm starting to lose hope.

I don't know if my letters reach you or not.

Letter 21: I went to the only person who could answer my questions, and that's Tom.

He told me that you might be dead, but he told me not to worry, and that you will see these letters in the end. I really hope so.

Letter 22: I can't work at all anymore, I feel tired. I'm 55 now. All the company's shares go back to you. I didn't make the company with shares, so I made them shares that don't exceed 35% so your rights always come back to you. And I can make the company return to you. After I became an executive, I sold the psychological clinic. Want the truth?

I was really a failure at it, but I didn't want to tell you the truth.

Letter 23: I found out I have cancer from the cigarettes I didn't want to tell you about.

It seems my chest is weak, and I was putting more strain on it than it could handle when I smoked cigarettes. I think I will die soon.

Letter 24: I started to recover, but there is an operation I must have. I have a request for my daughter. She met a young man a while ago. From what she says, she wants to have her wedding in the year 2037. If I die in 2036, I promised her she would have the wedding.

And when I die, my only request is that you come in my place, attend her wedding for me, Omar. This is the condition if I don't die. And if there is another letter I can send you,

until next time, boss.

Hova: Do you understand now why this is sad?

Omar: She was alone.

Hova: Yes, she was very alone.

(She starts to cry)

Hova: To the point that she turned to cigarettes when you left and left her with the responsibilities. And when someone started to appear in her life, he left her.

And the one who guided her to the path, died. And she had no one but her daughter.

Omar: Don't cry, I'll take care of what's left. I'll find her daughter to make it up to her.

How many Varo sheets do you have left?

Hova: 6 sheets.

(He opens the portal to go to Tom's residence)

???: Who are you?

Omar: I'm looking for Tom. He used to be the head of this place.

???: This way, sir. Mr. Tom told me that if someone comes from the portal,

it would be someone I must let in.

(The door opens, and he finds Tom at his desk)

Tom: I was waiting for you.

Omar: It seems you haven't aged.

Tom: Actually, I have. I'm almost 70 now, but I've used injections to make myself look young.

Omar: That's great to know, but I didn't come here for that. I came for Gwen, Sophia's daughter.

Tom: The one who used to manage all your businesses and companies?

Omar: Yes. So, Gwen, when is her wedding?

Tom: The wedding is tomorrow. So, how much do you want?

Omar: What? How much do I have in my bank account right now?

Tom: 79 million. That's just the money, without the house and companies.

Omar: So, Gwen, Sophia's daughter, does she have a house and real estate or not?

And who is her husband? Tell me everything.

Tom: She has the same or all of what her mother owned.

Omar: So, what does she need?

Tom: She needs a father. Her real father abandoned her and her mother.

Omar: You mean for me to be her father at her wedding?

Tom: You know that's what you have to do without me telling you. This is her address.

Omar: Thanks. You seem to have changed a lot.

Tom: I haven't changed. I just don't have to work in my old style anymore.

Omar: Goodbye, until next time, Mr. Tom.

Tom: You know there won't be a next time.

Omar: Who knows. But thank you.

(He opens a portal to the house)

Hova: So, what are you going to do?

Omar: Let's go, we're going to meet her.

Hova: Well done.

(They both get dressed and drive to the address)

Hova: The city looks so beautiful.

Omar: Yes, it definitely does. Even after leaving the cities for a few days,

they look beautiful because of the passage of time.

Hova: But it doesn't seem like the bad sights have completely disappeared.

The men look disgusting, and the same goes for the women.

Omar: Don't think too much. It won't be long until they realize they were wrong.

(They arrive at the house and knock on the door)

Gwen: Hello, who are you?

Omar: You look like her.

Hova: I haven't met her much, but you really look like her.

Gwen: Who do you mean?

Omar: You can say I'm your father who didn't give birth to you.

Gwen: I don't understand.

Omar: Your mother was my personal assistant here. When I left, I asked her to send me letters describing her situation and what happened to the company and all the developments.

Gwen: Do you know my mother?

Hova: Can we come in to talk first?

Gwen: Of course.

(After they sat down)

Gwen: So, what's the story?

Omar: I am, you could say, the owner of the company your mother worked for. When I left,

I made her manage the company, and I told her to inform me of all developments for her and the company.

Gwen: I don't understand, why did you come? Did she steal something in the past?

Omar: No, no. She just used to send letters at intermittent periods. When she sent the last letter before her death, her only request to me was to be your father at your wedding.

Gwen: Wait, wait! And why would she ask you to do that?

Omar: She was, for me, the girl whose life was bad. The problem is, when I left,

I left her alone to manage a company of this power by herself.

Gwen: How are you the owner of the company and you look like you're in your twenties?

Hova: This is a long story, don't worry about it too much. But now, do you have a wedding dress?

Gwen: Of course.

Omar: Okay, let's assume you don't. Come with us.

Gwen: Where's the proof that you know my mother for me to come with you?

Omar: Here is this letter, this is her signature. This is a picture of her that she sent me in the past when she was making lunch for me.

Hova: What do you mean by "making lunch"? And why is this picture at night?

Omar: Well, it was our first meeting. I was starving, so I asked her to cook for me, and it was night time, that's all.

Hova: I smell a lie.

....

Sword of Eternity: Journey of the Long Covenant

Real Estate Agent: Gwen

Hair: Blonde with black streaks

Age: 25

Eyes: Brown

Height: 176

....

Gwen: So, you really are her manager and her boss. She told me about you and how you changed her life.

Omar: As you see now. Will you get in the car?

Gwen: I don't believe it! The car she told me you entered an auction to get.

Omar: Really, it was cheap for its time.

Gwen: My mother told me you were a fool, you bought a car for double its price.

Hova: From what I've seen of him, that seems true and easy to believe.

Omar: I know, but why did she tell you that? I have smart things too.

Hova: Like what? That you gave 5 million to a 22-year-old girl?

Omar: Tom knew what she was doing and would tell me if anything happened.

(They get in the car)

Gwen: So, where are we going?

Omar: We're going to get you a dress, and then we'll go to your husband to get him a suit.

(Gwen starts to cry)

Gwen: I never imagined my mother would send me a gift after her death.

(They arrive at the clothing store)

Omar: Go, choose whatever you want, and this is the card to buy with.

(After they go, Omar calls Tom)

Tom: Hello Omar, what do you want?

Omar: I want to transfer the investment percentage in my company to be 51% for me and 35% for Gwen.

Tom: You know this is a large number from your company.

Omar: I know, that's why I want you to buy any extra shares just to give Gwen this percentage.

Tom: Is this the last gift, right?

Omar: No. The last gift, I know you can't have children. You'll find something under the chair in front of your desk, a potion.

Tom: Thanks, but what is this?

Omar: When you told me there was something you didn't have, I knew then that the least I could give you for everything you did for me was this potion. This potion lets you have the child you want.

Tom: How did you get it? I've searched for it with my soldiers.

Omar: It's easy to get something when you get help from a forest girl who wants something from the future.

Tom: You know this is a lot.

Omar: Even though I hate you with all my heart for your style, it's not always in your hands to do something. And the least I can offer for your help during my journey... Goodbye,

my friend, they've arrived.

Tom: Goodbye, Omar.

Hova: Who were you talking to?

Omar: It doesn't matter now. What did you buy?

Gwen: What do you think of this? It was very expensive. Hova told me you wouldn't have a problem with the price.

Omar: Did you buy anything for yourself?

Hova: I wanted this dress, it looks beautiful. I hope you won't be mad.

Omar: Of course I won't be mad. And call your husband and tell him to go to the location I'll send you, it's a suit tailor he owns.

Gwen: Where to?

Omar: I know you have friends, and they threw a party for you. So, you're going to have fun tonight. Can you drive?

Gwen: Yes, but...

Omar: Take the car, go, and have fun.

Hova: Aren't you coming with us?

Omar: I'm going to meet her husband. Hova, take care of her and don't let anyone touch her.

Hova: Certainly.

(He orders a ride and heads to the shop, finding someone waiting for him when he arrives)

Omar: Are you Gwen's husband? What's your name?

Ted: Yes, I'm Ted. Who are you?

Omar: Didn't Gwen tell you?

Ted: She told me I'd meet a man who is like her father, but you look young.

Omar: Alright, let's finish this quickly. Come in with me.

Ted: I already have a suit.

Omar: Just come and don't talk too much.

(He enters the tailor's shop)

Omar: Hello old man, I want you to make me a suit.

Old Man: Come with me, my son.

(He begins tailoring and taking measurements)

Omar: Listen, do you love Gwen or not?

Ted: Of course I love her.

Omar: How much do you want to leave her?

Ted: You could say 10 million dollars.

Omar: This will be your gift if you marry her. If I find out you left her, you will die.

Ted: What? Why do you think I'd take you seriously? I'm older than you.

Omar: You know I'm the one paying for this. If I hear you say you're older than me again,

I'll kill you next time.

Old Man: This young man seems to be speaking seriously. But young sir, are you alright?

Omar: No, I'm not alright. I've been feeling tired for a very long time, old man.

Are you finished with his suit?

Old Man: Yes, wait a minute.

Ted: Who are you and how did you appear in Gwen's life so quickly?

Omar: I'm a friend of her mother's. I'll be leaving soon; it will be my final departure. But,

if I hear, as I told you, that you left her, I will return only to leave you dead.

Old Man: Your turn, young sir.

Ted: Why are you leaving?

Omar: I came only by order of her mother before she died. I will watch a successful wedding, and this girl will be happy. But why am I leaving? Because I now have the solution to every problem.

Ted: And what is it?

Omar: You wouldn't understand if I explained. But that doesn't mean my death will be soon.

Ted: Anyway, what is Gwen doing now?

Omar: She is with my friend Hova, with her friends, celebrating.

Ted: So, what are we going to do?

Omar: You'll come with me to show you something.

(Ted goes with Omar, and they enter a car showroom)

Omar: This is a car showroom. Buy any car you want, it's on me.

Ted: Really? Why would you do this?

Omar: Just choose any car and I'll buy it for you.

(He gets the desired car and Omar pays the money)

Omar: What do you want to do now?

Ted: I want to go and meet my friends too.

Omar: Go by yourself, I have things to do.

Ted: But if you want to come with us, no problem.

Omar: Just go.

(Ted goes to celebrate with his friends, and Omar goes home to sleep)

???: It seems you've grown up, little one.

Omar: Who is it?

Tariq: Have you forgotten what your father looks like?

Omar: Hello, Father. So, did you drink the potion?

Tariq: I don't know. I am a spirit, I suppose, coming to meet you. But what happened to you,

I don't really know. But I can't believe it, you understand potions now, boy.

Omar: So, why are you here?

Tariq: If you didn't want me here, why do you think you're talking to me now? So, tell me.

Omar: I don't really know.

Tariq: Just tell me.

Omar: I feel tired. I always wanted to see life, I wanted to live moments with you, I wanted you to take me hunting or just chat about life and things. I wished for a lot of things, really.

(Tears fall from Omar)

Tariq: But you know I was the only way from God to make you who you are. You seem in good shape without me.

Omar: I know, and that's why I'm sad. Because even though you're dead, you always made me remember you as the one raising me through your absence. A bad thing that makes me wish from the bottom of my heart that you were a bad person and my life was terrible, just so I could be with you and my mother, for whom the same applies.

Tariq: There is no path to rest in this life, boy. And know that you have grown old,

and despite this, you are still this child. But, you must take the first step, and you have finished it; there is nothing left but to finish.

Omar: But you know the first step is the problem.

Tariq: The first step isn't the problem, the fear of it is the problem. Tell me what happened to you during my absence.

(After Omar tells him a brief summary of what happened to him)

Tariq: Slow down, boy. What you're saying is that you've become immortal.

It seems I wronged you in the end, didn't I?

Omar: Certainly not. You knew all the events of my life before I was born, otherwise I wouldn't be alive now. You wanted the best and you know what the end is, but...

Tariq: Listen, I will tell you my story quickly. When I was at the beginning,

my brother and I were of a lineage that controlled dragons. When our lineage disappeared from wars and monsters, my brother and I went to the continents roaming the world.

We met Kwaki, entered the worlds and the gates of the world. I loved a young girl,

I wanted to settle down, and my brother wanted death and to rest, and Kwaki wanted to take care of his niece because he was of the human race. When we left our powers behind,

we knew that what we were doing was the first step to our end. You shouldn't be the best and you shouldn't be the worst. If she had continued, I wouldn't have been what you are now,

and you wouldn't go through this experience.

Omar: But...

Tariq: Let me finish. Immortality may be a curse and bad, but in the end,

it made you know and learn. You have changed now, my son. You must set off,

you must end this, and you know it.

Omar: But it's hard, I just want to rest.

Tariq: And rest is near. Therefore, take your final steps with a smile.

Tell the beautiful of their beauty, and a smile is enough to gladden the heart, my son.

Even though I am not by your side, look at what you are now: a man who warns and fights, cares for those he loves, fears for everyone.

Omar: It's still sad in the end.

(Tariq places his hand on Omar's shoulder)

Tariq: There is no sadness in trials, boy. And you know that I know I didn't choose what I am now except to guarantee your success in your life. And God is always with you, even if I'm not with you.

(Tariq hugs him)

Tariq: And now, boy, my time with you is over, but I will be waiting for you. Me, your mother, Kwaki, and my brother, everyone is waiting for you.

(He wakes up the next day, finds Hova with her hand on his chest)

(He holds her hands, and she wakes up)

Hova: You've come. I wanted to talk to you yesterday, but you were in pain.

You seemed exhausted from the past journeys, and you were lying to us the whole time with that smile.

Omar: Did you use the potion that lets me talk to the dead?

Hova: I'm sorry, but you looked sad. I couldn't think of anything else to do.

Omar: No, no, don't apologize. And thank you. Go to sleep, you look tired.

Hova: You look really happy from this meeting.

Omar: It made me realize that I am not hard-hearted, but rather I was sad because I wasn't, and there was no one by my side for a very long time.

Hova: But I am by your side.

Omar: That's why I realized I am not alone. You are with me, and I am happy about that.

Hova: Thank you. Good night.

Omar: Good night.

(She holds the door handle)

Omar: Can I say something? I might not feel it, but I should have said it a long time ago.

You are very beautiful, Robin.

(She opens the door and leaves. The next day comes, and they go to the wedding)

Hova: What gift are you going to give them?

Omar: A part of the company for Gwen, and the other is money. And you?

Hova: Honey from our lands.

Omar: I haven't tried it before. What does it taste like?

Hova: Honey.

(...Hova puts on her clothes and comes out)

Hova: Are we going?

Omar: You look stunning.

Hova: Wait, did you just compliment me?

Omar: Yes. Even though I can't love, I can tell the truth.

Hova: That's embarrassing. It seems my journey to get the potion has paid off.

Omar: What do you mean?

Hova: I want to tell you frankly. We, as you know, the Marloa race, can see the power inside a person, which takes the form of an aura. When I saw you entering from the portal and saw Mas dead, the amount of energy inside you was so massive that you fainted.

Omar: So?

Hova: So I told you after you woke up two weeks later that I became the queen to protect the kingdom. But in reality, you killed all the monsters that the queen's duty was to protect against and send soldiers to.

Omar: So, you mean the 70 years was a lie?

Hova: Actually, no. All the portal papers required a long journey for me to get, about 5 years. As for the rest, I was looking for this potion, because it's a potion without the risks of death unlike the rest, but it costs the risks of time. That's why when I got it, it took 65 years.

Omar: But why?

Hova: Because this potion is what returns the soul to the heart, it's what returns the body to its right path when it ends up beyond its capacity.

Omar: So, all this time you were looking for a potion just for five minutes to bring me back to how I was? Hahaha... So, why did you do all this?

Hova: I know it's wrong to say this, but when someone is important to you for no reason, that's reason enough to do a lot for them, just as you did for me.

Omar: What do you mean?

Hova: You wasted a lot of time on unimportant things, and you know it. You helped our continent for no reason. You wanted to take me to be your assistant, even though in reality I didn't help you with anything, I was just a companion for your journey. Even when we fight the Guardian, you won't want my help. You want me just like I want you, a journey companion. And please stop, this conversation is embarrassing.

Omar: You're right, but that's not the reason.

Hova: wessam too, you can ask him to come out to spend time with you, but you don't want to. So, let's go, companion.

(A smile appears on Omar's face)

Omar: Let's go.

(They go to the wedding and congratulate them on the wedding)

Gwen: You look beautiful together in these clothes.

Omar: Here, this is the gift that makes me have offered what I can offer to your mother,

and it is in exchange for our friendship. This is 35% of my company where your mother worked. Congratulations to you. As for you, take this 10 million dollar check I promised you. If you leave her or make her sad, I will come and kill you as I told you.

Gwen: This is too much!

Omar: This is the least I can offer you.

Ted: Thank you.

Omar: Congratulations to you both.

(The wedding ends)

Hova: What do you want to do now?

Omar: Let's eat whatever you want.

Hova: I want to eat all kinds of meat today, I'm starving.

Omar: Me too.

(Omar goes to the best restaurants in the area)

Omar: I want everything on the menu.

???: Yes, sir.

Hova: This is a perk of being rich.

Omar: Actually, I'm not rich. I always give my money away. Like the 70 million, I bought a car and gave a gift to Ted. The same goes for the rest of the money.

Hova: So, what do you say we start distributing money and food after this?

Omar: Sure, why not.

(After they finish eating)

Hova: I really can't! This food is so delicious.

Omar: I've finished all the food and you're still craving more?

Hova: Our stomachs store food for long periods, with a high speed of analysis and digestion.

Omar: How much do you weigh?

Hova: What gives you the right to ask a woman about her weight? But we control our weight. You could say, whatever size you want me to be, I can become. "Wink, wink"

Omar: You do realize this food doesn't contain alcohol for you to say "wink, wink". Does eating a lot make you drunk? It doesn't matter now. wessam, can you hear me?

(The necklace starts to move)

wessam: Yes.

Omar: Do you want to eat or do anything?

wessam: No, I've been with your daughter for the past few days.

Omar: You know I can still kill you.

wessam: I don't think I can eat, but let's go to the company after you finish eating.

Omar: Alright.

Hova: Let's go.

Omar: Let's get a phone first.

(Omar and Hova go to buy phones. The worker explains how to use them, etc.)

Omar: These devices seem absolutely amazing.

Hova: Of course! Look at this metal piece you can do magic with. In the past, you needed legends.

(After Omar buys the phone, he calls Tom)

Tom: Who is this?

Omar: It's me. I got a phone. How are things going with you?

Tom: Everything is fine. I expect tomorrow my wife will be pregnant, if it takes a day.

Omar: No, it's on the same day. I've tried it.

Hova: What do you mean you've tried it? And with whom?

Omar: Just kidding.

Tom: Who's with you? Is that Hova? Send her my regards. And so, what do you want?

Omar: I want to donate 45 million from my company to the best charities for the poor and needy, and 15 million for the company.

Tom: Certainly. I want to tell you, even if you come back at another time, this is my last work call for you. I'm going to resign.

Omar: Really?

Tom: Yes. Therefore, I want you when you request, request from Kai, he is my assistant, he will fulfill all your requests. I will send you his number.

Omar: Thank you Tom, you'll be a great father, you bastard of a president.

Tom: Goodbye Omar.

(The week passes between Omar spending his last week before his final fight with Hova,

going on trips, eating, and playing with wessam)

Hova: It was a beautiful week, you were able to enjoy your time, right?

Omar: Definitely. Do you have any of those raven papers?

Hova: You mean these papers?

Omar: Yes, I want one.

Hova: Here you go.

(He uses it to contact Rayn)

Omar: This is me, Omar. I am sending you this message to inform you that I will be in the Mariana Trench. You will find us in the Mariana Islands. We will fight the Guardian to get the potion. We hope you come and help us because you are the strongest I know.

Hova: So, we're leaving here.

Omar: You know this is what has to happen.

Hova: I wished we could stay on adventures for a longer time.

Omar: Don't worry, we'll go on adventures again, but this time I want to end this whole thing.

(Omar and Hova begin preparing and packing the items, potions, weapons, and bullets)

Hova: Let's go.

(Hova opens the portal for Omar to enter, and Rayn is waiting for them inside)

Omar: You arrived before we did.

Rayn: Yes, you know how the time difference is between the continents.

....

Sword of Eternity: The Long Covenant's Journey

Explorer and Bounty Hunter: Rayn

Hair: Red

Age: 34

Eyes: Black

Height: 185

....

Omar: Weren't you in the normal continents?

Rayn: I am an explorer and a bounty hunter, I won't be able to hunt bounties from the normal continents.

Omar: I'm glad you're going to help us.

Rayn: Sure, because I was angry, it made me want to kill you. Until I read your story, and that made me, when I meet you, my goal is to know the truth.

Hova: So, let's go.

Here ends the twelfth chapter of Sword of Eternity: The Long Covenant's Journey.
