Chapter 167 - Parting

After fighting together for so long, even at the moment of parting, the Millelith commander still did not know the yaksha's name. Perhaps it would remain buried forever beneath the Chasm. Though the commander knew little of the foremost yakshas and had no way of tracking them, seeing the determination in Bosacius's eyes, he agreed to his request.

"Don't worry, Brother Yaksha. If I make it back to Liyue alive, I will give your regards to Lord Menogias."

With that, the commander reached out and took the Spear of Comradeship, now stained with monster blood. His gaze swept over every Millelith soldier. He knew that this farewell was final. He wanted to say something to each of them, but the words stuck in his throat.

Time was slipping away. He gritted his teeth and turned away, wiping a tear from the corner of his eye, and led a hundred Millelith soldiers to help Boyang and Rongzhao seal the space.

After Boyang, Rongzhao, and the hundred soldiers had left, the remaining yaksha and over a thousand Millelith soldiers turned resolutely and walked toward the rift. Just then, the rift rippled, and more high‑level monsters poured out. The yaksha and all the soldiers charged to meet them.

No matter what, they had to hold back the monsters, buying Boyang and Rongzhao enough time.

...

While Bosacius and the thousand Millelith soldiers were locked in battle with the surging monsters, hundreds of meters away in the mine crack, Boyang and Rongzhao held the Taisui Compass between them and began the sealing ritual. The commander and his hundred soldiers formed a protective perimeter, ready to stop any monster that might slip through and attack the shamans.

Boyang and Rongzhao poured their power into the compass. Drawing upon their combined strength, the compass suddenly emitted a multicolored light that spread far into the distance, covering a thousand‑meter radius. In a strange and wondrous way, it wove itself into a shimmering barrier. As the two shamans continued to channel the compass, the barrier grew clearer and more solid, eventually enveloping the entire space, turning it into a physical seal.

Such a seal was enough to stop ordinary monsters. But against the high‑level ones, it was far too weak. They needed more power.

Boyang and Rongzhao exchanged a glance. Both raised their fingers to their mouths, bit them without hesitation, and smeared their blood onto the compass.

At once, the compass blazed with an eerie light, enveloping both shamans. At the same time, a flood of information poured into their minds.

When they received that knowledge, both Boyang and Rongzhao's eyes filled with sorrow. They had been wrong—from the very beginning, they had misunderstood something crucial.

This seal was not an ordinary seal. It was a double‑sided seal, one that would not only prevent monsters from escaping but also keep anyone from entering. Conversely, to construct the seal, two people had to work simultaneously—one on the inside, one on the outside. That meant one of the brothers would have to remain within the sealed space.

While Rongzhao was still hesitating, Boyang suddenly looked up. With a determined push, he shoved his brother a step back. At the same moment, the power within the compass, now stained with both their bloods, erupted. A new barrier formed between them—a new seal, separating the two brothers.

Rongzhao was outside the seal; Boyang was inside. Only then could the sealing be completed.

Caught off guard, Rongzhao nearly stumbled. When he regained his balance and looked up, what he saw was not his brother, but a translucent sealing wall. He understood his brother's intention at once. He thrust his hand through the barrier, trying to pull his brother out and take his place inside.

But Boyang caught his hand and gently pushed him back.

"Rongzhao, don't tell Mother and Father about this. And take care of them for me."

In that moment, Boyang felt he had so much more to say. But there was no time. The seal had to be completed as quickly as possible.

Rongzhao tried to argue, tried to swap places with his brother. He reached for him again, but though the seal was not yet fully formed, Boyang did not want to come out, and Rongzhao could not pull him through.

Then Boyang released his brother's hand and said to the Millelith soldiers standing guard, "You should go to the other side of the seal too. If you do not leave now, you will be trapped here forever."

The soldiers hesitated. They took a step.

But just then, the sound of monsters came from behind them. A wave had broken through the lines of the yaksha and the main Millelith force and was charging toward them.

The soldiers smiled bitterly.

"It seems we cannot leave either. All Millelith, form ranks! Prepare to fight! Buy Boyang and Rongzhao more time!"

The commander and every soldier under his command gave up their chance to escape. They turned and formed their battle lines, waiting for the monsters to come.

Before that, the commander passed the Spear of Comradeship through the seal to Rongzhao.

"Master Rongzhao, we can no longer protect you. May this spear aid you."

Having handed over the spear, he turned and joined the others, forming a solid defensive line to guard the shamans who were still constructing the seal.

Seeing this, both Boyang and Rongzhao knew they could not waste time. They could not let the Millelith's sacrifice be in vain.

Together, they completed the final seal.

They sealed the Millelith soldiers, the shaman Boyang, the nameless yaksha, and the monsters together within that space.
