Shin-chan gave an "oh." "Then can the person who's sealed still move?"
"It depends on what kind of seal it is." Kushina thought for a moment. "Some only seal chakra, so the person can still walk and talk. Others seal the whole body, so they can't even move a finger."
Shin-chan imagined that scene.
"That's so pitiful."
"That's why you have to use it only when it's necessary." Kushina flipped the paper over and drew several winding symbols on the back. "Look at this."
Shin-chan leaned in to look. The symbols on the paper looked like little tadpoles.
"These are the most basic formula symbols in sealing techniques." Kushina tapped one of them with the tip of her pen. "This one represents 'fixing.'"
Then she tapped another.
"This one represents 'positioning.'"
Shin-chan stared at those symbols for several seconds.
The symbols slowly blurred in his eyes, as if those little tadpoles were really moving across the paper.
He rubbed his eyes.
The symbols swam back and forth in his vision, from the left side of the paper to the right, then from the right back to the left. Sometimes they even bumped into each other.
Kushina's voice came from beside him.
Shin-chan lifted his head and realized Kushina was staring at him.
"I completely don't understand," Shin-chan said honestly.
Kushina took a deep breath.
"Then let's explain it another way."
...
Very quickly, the morning passed.
The white papers were covered with all kinds of circles and symbols.
Shin-chan sat in the middle of the paper pile, holding a pen in his hand, and drew a crooked pattern on a sheet.
"Look!" He held up the paper.
Kushina took it and glanced at it.
On the paper was a circle. Outside the circle was a square, and two lines stuck out from the top of the square, probably meant to represent a lock.
"What is this?"
"A sealing technique," Shin-chan said. "I sealed green peppers inside."
Kushina looked at that piece of paper and was silent for a long while.
Then she put the paper down and collapsed onto the table.
"Minato."
"Mm?"
"Do I not have any talent for teaching people?"
Her voice was muffled in her arms, sounding a little pitiful.
"It's not your fault." Namikaze Minato shook his head. "The Flying Thunder God and sealing techniques are difficult things to begin with."
"But I explained for an entire morning." Kushina lifted her face from her arms. "And all he knows is green peppers."
Namikaze Minato glanced at Shin-chan.
Shin-chan was folding the paper with the sealed green peppers into a paper airplane and lining it up toward the window.
"He may understand more than he says out loud," Namikaze Minato said softly.
Kushina turned to look at him.
"How do you know?"
Namikaze Minato did not answer. His gaze fell on the paper airplane in Shin-chan's hands.
The crooked sealing formula drawn on the paper airplane was partly exposed after being folded.
The symbol representing "fixing" had been drawn by Shin-chan on the wing of the paper airplane.
"I'm hungry." Shin-chan placed the paper airplane on the table and pressed both hands against his stomach.
Kushina glanced at the clock on the wall.
It was almost noon.
"Then let's go eat first." Namikaze Minato stood up. "It's only the first day. There's no need to rush too much."
"What are we eating?" Shin-chan's eyes lit up.
Namikaze Minato thought for a moment. "I know a place. The food is pretty good."
The three left the apartment and walked down the street. After turning a corner, a row of shops appeared before them.
Namikaze Minato stopped in front of a small restaurant and pushed the door open.
The bell on the door rang once.
The shop wasn't big, with only a counter and a few tables.
"Minato." The owner was an uncle in his fifties. "Long time no see."
"I've been pretty busy recently." Namikaze Minato smiled and answered as he walked toward the counter.
The owner's gaze passed over him and landed on Kushina walking in behind him. Then he grinned.
"Oh? You brought your little girlfriend?"
Hearing this, Kushina's steps paused.
Namikaze Minato scratched the back of his head and nodded shyly.
Then Shin-chan poked his head out from behind Kushina.
The owner's gaze landed on Shin-chan, and his eyebrows rose.
"This..."
Shin-chan looked up at Namikaze Minato, then at Kushina. His eyes slowly widened.
"Are you two a couple?"
Kushina's face instantly turned red, from her neck all the way to her ears.
"The owner uncle said you're his little girlfriend." Shin-chan pointed at the owner behind the counter.
The owner immediately shifted his gaze away and focused on wiping a cup that was already very clean.
"Well..." Namikaze Minato had just started to say something when Shin-chan turned his face toward Kushina again.
"Have you held hands?"
The corner of Kushina's mouth twitched.
"Will you get married?"
Kushina's eyebrows began to rise.
"Shin-chan." Namikaze Minato crouched down. "Why don't we sit down first?"
"If you get married, will you have babies?" Shin-chan showed no intention of stopping. "Mom said after getting married, people have babies. If you two have a baby, will it have yellow hair or red hair?"
Kushina took a deep breath.
"Will it be half yellow and half red?" Shin-chan tilted his head, seriously pondering this matter of color distribution.
Namikaze Minato secretly glanced at Kushina.
Kushina bent down and brought her face close to Shin-chan's.
"Say one more word," Kushina revealed a terrifying smile, "and I'll let you personally experience what being sealed feels like."
Shin-chan raised both hands and covered his mouth, his muffled voice leaking out through his fingers.
"I won't talk anymore."
Kushina stared at him for two seconds, then straightened up and nodded in satisfaction.
Namikaze Minato let out a breath of relief and pointed toward the counter.
"Let's sit first."
The three sat down in front of the counter.
Shin-chan sat in the middle, with Namikaze Minato on his left and Kushina on his right.
When the owner handed over the menu, his gaze still moved back and forth between the three of them.
"So..."
"Three set meals," Namikaze Minato cut him off. "And three miso soups, please."
The owner tactfully closed his mouth and turned to start cooking.
Shin-chan lowered the hands covering his mouth and carefully glanced at Kushina.
Kushina was propping up her chin with one hand, staring blankly at the wall behind the counter. The tips of her ears were still red.
Shin-chan turned to look at Namikaze Minato.
Namikaze Minato smiled at him and raised one finger to his lips, making a "shh" gesture.
Shin-chan nodded very hard.
The owner cooked quickly.
When the set meals were brought over, Shin-chan's attention was immediately drawn away by the food.
He placed his chopsticks together and pressed both hands together.
"Let's eat."
Shin-chan picked up a piece of fried chicken, then suddenly remembered something and turned to look at Kushina.
"Even though you're not a big sister," Shin-chan said, "you were really serious when you taught me."
Kushina froze.
"So." Shin-chan held up the fried chicken. "This is for you."
The corners of Kushina's mouth slowly curved upward, and she ruffled Shin-chan's head.
"At least you have some conscience."
