Chapter 23
The room echoed with scales brushing against walls. Two yellow eyes suddenly opened above them, slowly descending.
By the help of a dim light the present occupier was identified as a giant, dark golden snake. It looked like Cerastes cerastes, but its horns were made of diamonds. It scales looked rougher and it had a scar on it left eye.
The snake coiled itself and looked at its visitors. Beside it appeared another snake. It had speckled scales, and also it seems to have its tail in it mouth.
The temple shook and cracked away revealing The Outside. Nemisis, Lilith and Haitt were standing on a broken piece of the temple floor that remained.
The scarred snake looked at Lilith, "Ah, what do we have here."
His voice sounded like thunder. "Ouroboros, this is the little one I was talking about."
Ouroboros's eye fixed on Lilith, "I see now, and who might he be Xoth?"
Xoth looked at Nemisis, "The one people call the Heartless god, the one in search of the 9th Daimon."
Nemisis's brows furrowed.
"I see." Ouroboros got close to Nemisis, who now was like a speck compared to his eye. "It seems to be asleep."
"Indeed, and it's for the best," Xoth replied.
Lilith looked at her father, "Do they mean..." she whispered.
Haitt nodded slowly.
"Tell me, are you now a Void Deity, Lilith?" Xoth asked.
"Void Deity?" Haitt questioned. "I thought that was just a myth."
"Haitt, you've been with us for thousands of years and you believe in myths?" Xoth asked.
Ouroboros laughed, which shook the whole Outside, and Xoth joined in.
"Tell us, Lilith," Xoth remarked.
"Well..." Lilith hesitated, "I... I... surpassed Void Deity after encountering the master. I am currently Primordial."
Haitt became pale. Nemisis scratched his head whiles Xoth and Ouroboros laughed.
"Well done, well done, now I can get rid of this scar you gave me. You've fulfilled your promise and now you are almost equal to me." Xoth said.
The scar on his left eye disappeared as if it was never there.
"And you..." Ouroboros looked at Nemisis. "What do you have to say for yourself?"
"Me?" Nemisis questioned.
"That trick of human nature you wear. It's a pity some fall for it."
"Indeed," Xoth remarked. "Now, to find the 9th Daimon, I think you should ask either Leviathan or Jörmungandr."
"He just started moving after his nap," Ouroboros added.
"Thank you for the information, but how will I even find them?" Nemisis asked.
"We will send you there. Of course we know you don't know where to find them. Do you even know what we are and where you are?" Xoth said.
"If I may," said Haitt. "These are two primordial beings, and this is The Outside, a place created by them."
Nemisis nodded in understanding.
"Good" Haitt remarked.
"Now, before you go," Ouroboros said, "there is someone who would like to meet you. A friend of your mother."
"Oh, I totally forgot about that," Xoth added.
"Who is that?" Nemisis asked.
"You will see," Xoth said.
After the statement, Nemisis and Lilith disappeared.
"Void Deity Haitt and his bad acting." Ouroboros called out. "I can't believe she fell for that cheap trick."
"Say, Haitt, what are the humans up to?" Xoth asked.
"I bet the same old war among themselves. And get this in some aspects, one of their creations is against them," Haitt responded.
"Don't tell me it from one of those universe?" Ouroboros asked.
"Of course it is," Xoth added.
Meanwhile, Nemisis and Lilith appeared by the seaside.
"This place looks familiar," Nemisis remarked
Then, they felt a prescence.
Behind them stood a stern, majestic, and beautiful winged woman in a elegant, long white robe-like garment.
"Look who is all grown up," the woman said.
"You look familiar," Nemisis stared, trying to remember.
"You must be the goddess Nemesis," Lilith said in realization.
''Oh." Nemesis looked at Lilith. "It seems my little nephew found himself a maiden already."
Lilith blushed.
Nemisis shook his hands and head. "Its not what it looks like. I am just her master."
"I see." Nemesis gave a devious smile. "The slave and master kink huh?"
She then laughed.
"Excuse me, Lady Nemesis," Lilith said. "How is he your nephew?"
"Oh, that. I guess you know Apenxy, who is actually the Mother of Concepts. She is my close friend. We actually see each other as sisters."
Lilith's jaw dropped, "Really?"
"Of course, she was even here yesterday. But she had to go back and deal with some issues."
Lilith looked at Nemisis, "Your mother is the Mother of Concepts? How is that even possible?"
"Oh the possibility is due to a little game she and her friend are playing with fate. Fate is still traumatized from the previous two game they played together and this third one is killing him... or her... or is it?" Nemesis said.
Just then, the sky became dark. Arriving behind her was her mother, Nyx.
A starry mantle over her head covered the shining blue sky. She had large wings, and rode a chariot pulled by horses, galloping across the heavens.
She flew down the chariot towards Nemisis and cupped his face in her hands.
"If it isn't the little heartless god," Nyx said playing with Nemisis's cheeks.
"Why did you call him that?" Lilith asked.
Nyx looked at her, then back at Nemisis. "My little god has found a beautiful flower."
She kept on playing with his cheeks.
"Well," Nemesis began. "He is actually not a god, but something far different. He is..."
The voices faded out, Nemisis felt as if he was in a trance. The voices came fading back in. He looked at Lilith, whose face looked horrified and panting.
"Mother, I think we better be going," Nemesis said. "Why don't you two join us."
"Erm.. we are supposed to look for the world serpent." Nemisis said.
"I bet Thor will know where he is, if only they've not started Ragnarök," Nemesis said.
"Come, little ones, for a feast awaits." Nyx said.
They all got in the chariot, which looked bigger than before. It flew through the sky then disappeared.
[ In the dark void exists a being.
But don't be fooled-
For this being is the void itself...
and beyond even that.
The darkness is merely its presence.
Then-
a bloody red eye opened.
2/9 eyes are opened ]
