Chapter 3 - "Chapter 3: The Phantom’s Delusion"

The next morning, the sky was draped in heavy, dark clouds. A strange chill lingered in the air, whispering of the approaching storm. Aryan and Naina sat opposite each other at the dining table. The mark Aryan had seen on Naina's shoulder the previous night had awakened the demon within him; yet, his face wore that same old, innocent smile of a simple bookseller.

"Naina, the weather looks bad today. Is it absolutely necessary for you to go to the NGO?" Aryan asked, taking a sip of his coffee, his voice laced with the concern of a devoted husband.

Adjusting her hair, Naina gave him a weary smile. "Yes, Aryan, I have some urgent files to complete. We need to clear the tender for the underprivileged children's shelter. I'll be back soon, don't worry."

Naina's Real Plan: (She had a secret meeting scheduled with the Anti-Gang Task Force today. The attack 'The Phantom' launched on the police headquarters last night had shaken CM Naina to the core. Today, she was about to make her final move.)

The two embraced at the door. Aryan kissed her forehead, and Naina left in her cab. As soon as the car turned the corner, the innocence vanished from Aryan's face. His eyes turned as cold and stony as death itself.

He dialed an encrypted number on his phone. "Phantom speaking. I want the complete dossier on 'Asha Kiran NGO' in the next ten minutes."

Fifteen minutes later, Aryan was driving toward the address in his ordinary-looking but bulletproof SUV. His mind drifted toward the philosophies life had taught him: 'People think kindness changes the world. But my reckoning is different. I don't believe there is a God, and even if there is, He is cruel. He doesn't care about us; He views us as mere insects. In this world, only the powerful are remembered. If someone has exploited Naina's goodness to hurt her, I will gladly sacrifice this entire city. And I will do so without a shred of remorse.'

The vehicle pulled up near a large, ancient building on the outskirts of the city. A small board outside read: 'Asha Kiran NGO'. Aryan parked in a dark alley, donned a dark jacket, checked his Glock, and moved toward the rear of the building.

As he reached the backyard, he was stunned.

An NGO is usually staffed by ordinary people. But here... snipers were stationed on the roof. Every entrance was guarded by Z-plus security commandos armed with automatic weapons. These weren't mere police officers; their uniforms bore the logo of the State Intelligence Agency.

Aryan ducked behind a wall, his breathing quickening. 'What is this? What are the state's top commandos doing at an NGO? Is this a secret safehouse for the Chief Minister?' Just then, a black Land Cruiser entered through the main gate. Aryan pulled out his binoculars and focused. The car door opened, and the person who stepped out made Aryan's heart skip a beat.

It was Naina. But this wasn't the Naina he knew. Eight guards stood around her, heads bowed in respect. The State's Intelligence Chief stood before her, clutching a file with visible trepidation. Naina's face carried an air of authority and pride—the aura of a sovereign.

Aryan's mind raced. He was in shock. But instead of reacting like an ordinary man, The Phantom's mind processed the scene differently. He still didn't realize that Naina herself was the CM. Instead, he reached a different, terrifying conclusion.

'State Intelligence and that tyrannical new CM... they have captured my innocent Naina. They are using her. They must have threatened her family or my life to turn her into a pawn in their filthy political game. That's why she was hurt yesterday... that's why she is always exhausted!'

Blood rushed to Aryan's eyes; his fists clenched. His love and his obsession had reached their breaking point. 'Naina belongs only to me. I will snatch her away from them. If I must, I will keep her captive myself, under my own watch, so that not even a breeze from the outside world can touch her. But I will not let these politicians use my wife. Who do they think they are? I will burn this Intelligence agency and this entire system to the ground. I will pile up their charred corpses.'

He retreated into the shadows with a horrific resolve that was destined to shake the very foundations of the city. He had never interfered in State matters before, but now it concerned his Naina. The Phantom was now on a direct collision course with the State's CM—unaware that they were both the same person.
