The music wrapped around them like silk.
Hades led Ken onto the dance floor, his hand warm and steady against Ken's lower back. The chandeliers above cast soft golden light across the ballroom, catching the sparkle of Ken's new ring.
Ken placed his hand on Hades's shoulder. Their bodies swayed together, moving in perfect synchrony.
"You're staring," Ken said softly.
"I'm admiring." Hades's eyes traced Ken's face—the curve of his jaw, the softness of his lips, the way his eyes caught the light. "I'm allowed to admire. You're my fiancé now."
Ken's heart fluttered at the word. "Fiancé. I like the sound of that."
"Good. Because you're going to hear it a lot."
They spun slowly across the floor, past other couples who smiled at them knowingly. Ken felt like he was floating—weightless and free.
"I can't believe this is real," Ken murmured. "A month ago, I was dying. I was ready to give up. And now..."
