Chapter 3 - imitations of beasts

' In this world is the concept of good and evil judged by same transcendent entities , are our deeds judged by same higher power and if so are we as humans truly able to judge the actions of others. higher entities imitations of the limitations that man has...and are the man imitations of the limitations of beasts.'

holding a worn leather book with his delicate pale hands, Lena stares at the pages intensity his focus undivided with a slight smirk.Lena seemingly above the scene of terror in front of him as a growling pack of hulking multi eyed beasts gore at a screaming man. the soft gentle rays of sunlight coming through small cracks from the ceiling

" how unfortunate for us especially for you good sir for making this matter hard for yourself by forcing me to give chase, now you are caught in between the jaws of my familiar, now seeking the warm embrace of mother death but unclaimed" Lena purred as he stood up and gracefully walked towards the man. " and quite unfortunate for myself, I have to stain myself with your heretic blood"

the growls in the room grow silent as Lena footsteps grew louder, followed by the sound of cold distant knells as the man his torso bit open with his intestines travelling attempts to crawl away his voice raspy and choking on his own blood as he pleads with Lena, who simply smiles at him

"please...please spare me, I'll offer you anything, worth, power, status by the great flaming god my own wife and kin just spare my life,your...your supposed to be a member of the church, an investigator sworn to protect and serve the people, do you honestly believe you will go unpunished by murdering a nobleman like myself." the man shouted in panic and desperation, reaching his right arm out to lena with wide hopeful eyes

than in a blink of an eye all hope from his eyes vanished replaced by overwhelming dread and despair. His eyes lock onto Lena who now holds his once outstretched arm and a sharp pain hammers at him causing him to scream and recoil, he is unable to remove his gaze from his arm

his torn shoulder and blue sleeve now dripping blood onto the old wooden floors and the tips of his fingers twitching as if trying to make a fist

"you...your a devil wearing the skin of a man, a monster that mimics and lusts for the righteous and bright flame of our lord and a heathen that tarnishes his teachings and ways." the nobleman roared outraged and frightened with wide eyes that never left lena or his carved arm but a sharp pain through his torso quickly silenced him as the sharp razor teeth of the beast that growled sink deeper into his stomach and chest

" what lost your arm, here I'll offer you one"Lena whispered just loud enough for the nobleman to hear before his calm expression twisted into one of disgust and pitty

" you call me such horrible things but deep down you must understand, your words to me are merely the projection of the thoughts you have about yourself, you offered me weath, power, status and even your own wife and children yet you durst call me a monster, even mindless beasts protect their own kin good sir"

standing in front of the terrorfied nobleman like a predator that as finally worn down its prey, lena stares down at him with pity as the locks of his bright blue hair casting dark shadows over his face and his ember eyes glowed with an unnatural light.

" I care not for the power, status, wealth and woman you offer me good sir, for in my eyes all nobleman are the same beasts, beasts that hide behind wealth and power oblivious to their own disgusting and filthily actions, nothing more than beasts imitating the grace of the divine" lena split with a gentle smile before cupping the face of the terrorfied nobleman " but I'll save you the trouble of listening to my monologuing, what i truly want is information on who gave the Marvins access to state secrets."

the nobleman face twisted into something between the outrage and dread as he stared into the unblinking ember eyes of the smiling that gave him a twisted sense of reassurance softening his tenison and lowering his pain.

" do not fear my good sir for i will grant you the mercy of mother death's embrace but do know not even death is fair in this life and I'll be the conductor that grants a beast like you a fitting end" Lena said with a soft and even voice as the monstrous beast that has the nobleman within it's jae steps forward revealing itself to be a massive six legged black wolf.

A few hours later...

the gentle and warm setting sun shined through the now bloodstained walls and ceiling of the wooden cabin, the floor with small pools of blood leading to a small wooden desk and chair lit solely by a bright fire as Lena with a small smirk on his face reads from the worn leather book, his bloodied delicate hands slowly turning the yellow pages into a deep maroon as he radiates a effortless aura of grace and warm.

" standing In front of the beast, the young heroine confessed her desires to protect and love it, claiming it was no beast but a man cursed by his own greed and hatred but she had vowed to love him none the less for what is love in this twist and cruel world we live in but one's desire to be free and one's curse of being unable to live without another" Lena reads his eyes narrowing in confusion as he closed the book and rests his head on the table

' the heroine of this story loves the beast despite knowing his true nature and believes he is merely a man cursed by his creed and hatred, what a absurd idea'

the old wooden door opens with a slight creek as the warmth and light of the setting sun hitting lena force before being quickly covered by a hulking shadow, Kleus exhausting smoke from his pipe looks at his tired and lazy assistant with a calm patience and warmth that belays his cold and serious expression

" I see you have been hard at work young Dunhel, however i would not agree with your methods of interrogation" Kleus says looking at the wall from which the mutilated upper half of the nobleman hangs like a trophy meant to be displayed with cool indifference

" let us be going I'll perform their last rights and put their souls to rest before corruption befalls them" Kleus continues his eyes slowly drifting back to the sleepy lena who raises his head slightly to give him a dismissive look before dragging himself out of the chair, carefully putting the leather book in his coat and walking out

Kleus raising his pipe as a small blue flame lights it doesn't speak, merely turns back and begins to slowly walk away as blue flames burn the nobleman corpse and the cabin

'A beast loved by man, nothing more than a fairy tale'
