Ethan stared at the pile of rewards with a massive, deadpan question mark practically stamped across his face.
Had he just cracked open Harry Potter's entire nest?
He read through the item descriptions one by one.

[The First Wand]: Rumored to be the very first wand ever made in the Harry Potter world — the wand whose creation is what gave that entire world wands to begin with! Autonomously produces three new wands per day. Own one, and Mom never has to worry about you leaving the house without your wand again.
[The Source of Magic — Harry Potter World]: The wellspring of magic itself for the Harry Potter world. Legend holds that this world only has wizards because this source exists — without it, the entire population would be Muggles.
[Grindelwald Growth Template]: Gellert Grindelwald, from the Harry Potter world — one of the most powerful Dark wizards to ever live, the original Dark Lord. Even Voldemort would have to call him "senior." Once this template is applied, the recipient Family member gains every ability associated with it.
[Dumbledore Growth Template]: Albus Dumbledore, from the Harry Potter world — widely regarded as the greatest wizard in history, and headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Once this template is applied, the recipient Family member gains every ability associated with it.
Ethan stared at the pile, utterly speechless.
Was the System trying to get him to build an entire Hogwarts inside the Marvel universe?
What was this — "reclaim wizarding glory, it is our duty"? Was that the vibe here?
Or had the wizards decided the Harry Potter world simply wasn't enough for them anymore, and they were coming to annex the Marvel universe next?
It wasn't that Ethan had anything against the Harry Potter world specifically — it was more that the Marvel universe was already a mess as it stood. Mutants, Wakanda, Atlantis, the Illuminati, the Spider-Society — the guest list was getting a little out of hand.
And now the System looked worried this universe simply wasn't chaotic enough yet, and had decided to throw another log on the fire.
Reading between the lines, the System's whole agenda seemed to be: turn every last resident of Hell's Kitchen into a wizard.
As for Muggles — Ethan figured Hell's Kitchen would have a hard time producing any at all, given the Tablet of Life's influence.
With the Tablet's boost in play, even a literal pig could probably ascend into some kind of super-pig.
Looked like the Hell's Kitchen Community School was going to need its own dedicated School of Magic wing. Though that would mean pulling in the Kamar-Taj crowd for a proper sit-down first.
Sometimes Ethan genuinely wondered if the System was doing this on purpose — like it knew Strange was about to become Sorcerer Supreme any day now, and decided to lower the bar on his prestige just for laughs.
If Ethan had to rank the two schools of magic, Kamar-Taj would win without question.
Kamar-Taj's magic was fundamentally broken in the best possible way — never mind anything else, portal magic and the Mirror Dimension alone put it leagues ahead of Hogwarts.
Not that Hogwarts-style magic was weak, exactly — but Kamar-Taj's magic didn't even need a wand, and it could be cast instantly.
Hogwarts magic, by comparison, was more practical and a lot easier to pick up.
Spells like the Killing Curse, or the one that wiped memories clean — those, in Ethan's view, were genuinely useful tools.
In Ethan's mental model, Hogwarts would function like compulsory public education for the general population — and only wizards who graduated with strong marks would go on to study further at Kamar-Taj.
That tracked with why Kamar-Taj had always had so few practitioners: partly the brutal entry requirements, and partly because Kamar-Taj magic carried real risk.
Only people of genuinely unshakable will could hope to wield it — after all, every drop of a Kamar-Taj sorcerer's magical energy was borrowed from a dimensional deity. Even the Ancient One herself had borrowed hers from Dormammu, lord of the Dark Dimension.
None of them generated magical energy of their own — a key difference from Hogwarts wizards, who could produce their own magic internally.
The only real headache was figuring out how to talk the Kamar-Taj sorcerers into actually teaching classes. Ethan himself didn't have a single trained wizard on hand to start with.
What was he supposed to teach with, exactly? Stand in front of a classroom personally every day? Not happening. The only real path forward was sitting down with the Ancient One and Strange and hashing it out.
Get the Kamar-Taj sorcerers to finish learning the Hogwarts curriculum first, then start recruiting students after that.
Of course, it wasn't as if he had zero people to work with. Ethan looked down at the two template cards in hand and felt a headache coming on.
Both Dumbledore and Grindelwald were formidable wizards, and Ethan's first thought on seeing the two cards went straight to Magneto and Professor X. The two of them practically embodied one side each of the mutant world's eternal light-and-dark rivalry — and, fittingly, they'd also been locked in a decades-long frenemy dynamic since youth, just like their Harry Potter counterparts.
The one difference being, presumably, that Magneto and Xavier had never actually been in love with each other. Which got Ethan wondering what exactly the writers had been thinking, putting Dumbledore and Grindelwald together like that.
The only explanation Ethan could come up with was some kind of retroactive rewrite for the sake of representation. And really, personality-wise, Magneto and Xavier lined up remarkably well with Grindelwald and Dumbledore regardless.
Dumbledore and Xavier were both headmasters — one running a school for mutants, one running Hogwarts — and their temperaments matched too. The only real difference: one was bald, and the other had hair and a beard long enough to mop the floor with.
As for Magneto and Grindelwald — no explanation needed there. Both men were fully committed to the "conquer the world through force" school of thought.
The real question was whether the mutants in question would even want to become wizards.
Ethan figured he'd need to have a conversation with both of them before actually applying either template card.
Still, the idea of the two of them as wizards had a certain undeniable charm. Ethan couldn't help wondering whether Magneto would use his magnetism to wield a thousand wands simultaneously.
And picturing Professor X flying around on a broomstick — that alone would be worth the price of admission.
All told, Ethan wasn't exactly thrilled with this pull. Not that it was useless, per se, but none of it did much to meaningfully raise his overall combat strength.
He could hardly picture himself throwing a Killing Curse at Thanos, could he? Leaving aside whether it would even work — it just wasn't a cool way to go about it!
And what, exactly, was he supposed to do with a complete boxset of the Loki TV series?
