Right before setting off on their international honeymoon travels, Michael had decided to handle a few final loose ends at the company. Wanting to surprise him, Evelyn had spent the morning under the housekeeper's guidance learning how to cook her very first dish: a simple box of rice topped with tomato and fried eggs.
She walked over to the executive sofa and sat down, unlatching the lid of the thermal lunch box with an excited flourish. "Eat it!" She pushed the box right in front of the man.
Michael looked down at the charred, unrecognizable black mounds inside the container, his eyebrows twitching in shock. "What is this?"
He had seen a lot of things in his life, but he had never seen anything like this!
"It's scrambled eggs with tomato over rice! I made it myself! Try it!"
She pulled out a spoon with a bright, expectant grin and enthusiastically handed it to her husband.
Michael stared at how quickly her mood had flipped, almost choking on his own breath.
