Executive Floor, Thorn Group Headquarters
Evelyn stepped out of the private elevator onto the 66th floor. Her heels sank into the carpet, which normally muffled every step, but driven by rage, every stride echoed with a sharp, heavy thump-thump-thump.
Over in the secretarial hub, several assistants immediately stood up and bowed respectfully. "Good morning, Mrs. Thorn!"
"Where is Michael Thorn?" she demanded, her eyes flashing.
The primary female secretary had seen Evelyn a few times before; always radiant, warm, and sweet. She had never seen Mrs. Thorn like this, her commanding aura rivaling the President's own terrifying presence!
"The... the President is currently holding a board meeting on the 22nd floor!" the secretary stammered out, her voice trembling slightly.
Without another word, Evelyn turned sharply on her heel and marched straight back toward the elevator bank, leaving behind a group of bewildered secretaries exchanging nervous glances.
