"Gabriel, listen to me carefully," Maximillian rasped, his voice echoing in the cold expanse of the president's office. "The Sin family is an ancient power in this Country. If you can marry into that bloodline, the doors that would open for you are limitless." He leaned forward, his eyes gleaming with a desperate greed. "Now is the perfect time. Michael Thorn is shackled to a fiancée, this is your opening. Approach her."
Gabriel looked at his father with nothing but pure, unadulterated disdain. The man was obsessed with power even as his own life was slipping away. "Worry about your own body, old man," He replied coldly. "You have advanced cancer and surgery in a few days. Leave my life out of your calculations."
He slammed the office door shut, the sound a final punctuation mark to their conversation. He didn't head for the luxury cars the Muller family had provided; instead, he straddled his motorcycle, the roar of the engine providing the only solace he knew.
