I was anxious about today.
The spirits were screaming at me.
Even though we were well-rested and well-fed, today's activity was paintballing in the mountains- a survival game because apparently Lance's script had a war scene in it.
The perfect day for an accident.
Not to mention, still no Decimus.
My stomach twisted at the thought of going back into the woods.
As we gathered with our paintball gear, I repeated in my head: Just survive until the end of the game. Simple. That was it.
Then I can relax with my twins.
I glanced around, my gaze landing on Ayla. She was chatting with a group of friends, but the moment she caught me looking, she smirked.
Fuck, why's she doing that?
Lucas, sensing my unease, squeezed my shoulder. "You okay?"
"Yeah, just... thinking," I admitted. "I'll be fine as long as I stay away from anything dangerous."
Lucas frowned. "I'll keep an eye on you."
"No, that's-"
