Chapter 29 - Chapter 30 – The Final Call

The sun blazed over Durban's Kingsmead Cricket Ground. Flags of India and Pakistan fluttered in the stands, creating a sea of color and excitement. The inaugural T20 World Cup Final, 2007, had the world watching. India would face arch-rivals Pakistan—a match already electric with tension—but the biggest talking point was the young Rithvik, called up last minute due to Yuvraj Singh's injury.

Dhoni's Pre-Match Interview

Minutes before the toss, cameras caught Dhoni addressing reporters:

Reporter: "MS, how has the team prepared for Pakistan, and what's the strategy with Yuvraj injured?"Dhoni: "Well, it's a big loss, no doubt. Yuvraj is a match-winner, but cricket gives opportunities. Rithvik has been performing exceptionally in domestic cricket and U19 tournaments. He's calm, innovative, and has the temperament we need. I trust him to step in if the top order collapses."Reporter: "Do you see him handling the pressure of a World Cup final?"Dhoni: "He's worked hard, and the system is supporting him. We're a team, and we'll back him fully. Let's see what he can do."

Across the nation, TV channels replayed Dhoni's words:

"A bold move by Dhoni! Calling up a debutant in a World Cup final against Pakistan—fans are thrilled and anxious!"
