The next morning in class, Sharon arrived early and sat down at her desk.
A few minutes later Dylan walked in.
Instead of sitting quietly like usual, he stopped beside her desk.
"Guess what," he said.
"What?"
"I actually understood yesterday's homework."
Sharon looked impressed. "Really?"
"Yep. I might be becoming smart."
"Don't push it," she said.
Dylan grinned.
Then something unexpected happened.
He smiled at her.
Not his usual teasing smile.
A genuine one.
Without thinking, Sharon smiled back.

Then Mia suddenly appeared beside Sharon.
"Well well well," Mia said dramatically. "Look who's smiling at Dylan."

"We were just talking," she said quickly.
