Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: A Cliche Hero’s World

Watching her short knife and the money she had painstakingly stolen today both be taken away by Satoru Gojo, Felt's teeth itched with rage, yet she dared not make any provocative moves.

She could only glare at him resentfully, like a little wild cat whose food had been snatched away.

"I worked so hard to steal that! And besides, I didn't even manage to steal anything of yours!"

"You—how can you act like a bandit!"

Felt knew that stealing was wrong, but for the sake of her ideals and her future life, she had been scrimpingly and saving every bit of money she could. Now, seeing Satoru Gojo take it all made her heart practically bleed.

Furthermore, this guy was clearly so strong and obviously not an ordinary person, yet he actually stooped to robbing her of such a small amount of money. Shouldn't someone like him be the type to not even spare it a glance, or find even touching it beneath them?

"A bandit?"

Satoru Gojo chuckled as he tucked the money into his own pocket, even patting it ostentatiously to ensure it wouldn't fall out.

Then, he crouched down in front of Felt. "Clearly, you tried to steal from me first. I'm just taking a little bit of interest."

As he spoke, Satoru reached out and pinched Felt's small face, then ruffled her hair into a messy bird's nest before standing up, thoroughly satisfied.

"Next time before you steal something, check first to see if the person is someone you can afford to provoke."

As he spoke, he slipped a candy he had on him into her pocket and turned to leave.

Felt stared at his departing back, gritting her teeth, yet utterly helpless. She couldn't beat him in a fight, so she could only chalk it up to bad luck.

However, just as she was about to leave, she noticed her short knife lying quietly by her feet; she had no idea when it had been placed there. Felt quickly snatched up the knife and tucked it back into the small of her back.

When she looked up again, Satoru Gojo's figure had already vanished.

Felt fished the candy Satoru had left out of her pocket—a beautiful candy wrapper with a faint, sweet aroma. Although she had never seen it before, Felt recognized what it was. Looking at the candy, Felt pursed her lips, put it back in her pocket, gave a soft huff, and walked out of the alley to merge back into the flow of people.

Carrying the money he had obtained from Felt, Satoru Gojo went straight to a bookstore. Having money made things much more convenient, no matter which world you were in.

He bought a book on the foundational script of this world and had the shopkeeper briefly explain the meaning of each character. It cost him exactly one silver coin.

Satoru Gojo soon gained a functional understanding of the world's writing system. For him, a minor feat like photographic memory was hardly a challenge.

Now possessing the ability to read, and after a few inquiries to the owner, Satoru bought a history book before finally leaving the shop. He had spent a total of one silver coin and twenty-three copper coins.

The currency here was divided into four types from lowest to highest: copper coins, silver coins, gold coins, and holy gold coins. The exchange rate for each was $1:100$.

Quickly flipping through the books in his hands, Satoru Gojo gained a clearer understanding of this world.

"It really is quite similar to those fantasy light novels," Satoru Gojo remarked, looking at the history book.

This world was quite complex, divided into four major nations: Lugnica, Vollachia, the Kararagi City-States, and the Holy Kingdom of Gusteko.

He was currently in the Royal Capital of Lugnica. Lugnica was a kingdom with over a thousand years of history and a population of roughly 50 million. Its territory encompassed various climates and many different races, such as demi-humans. Furthermore, it featured traditional fantasy elements like magic and dragons.

Beyond that, there was the matter of "Witches." Rumor had it that four hundred years ago, a being known as the Witch of Envy swallowed half the world. Ultimately, she was defeated by the combined efforts of the Sage, the Divine Dragon, and the Sword Saint, saving the world.

After reading through this so-called history, Satoru Gojo felt like he was reading a "toilet paper" novel—a very cliche "Hero Saves the World" type of story. It was simply a matter of swapping out a Demon King for a Witch.

"The only things that are slightly interesting are the so-called 'Divine Protections' and 'Authorities'."

According to the book, a Divine Protection was something anyone in this world might possess—a blessing granted by the world at birth. Some Divine Protections were unique to certain races. Most people were born without one; those born with one knew of its nature without needing to be told.

Authorities could be seen as the opposite of Divine Protections, or perhaps their superior counterparts. No Divine Protection could ever overcome an Authority. However, Authorities only manifested in those who had absorbed a Witch Factor—the legendary Witches. Both types of abilities held extremely powerful strength.

"Going by this world's classifications, my Six Eyes should count as a Divine Protection unique to the Gojo family," Satoru Gojo analyzed silently, referencing his own situation.

"Well, all in all, it's not a boring world."

Satoru Gojo didn't have much interest left in things like Jujutsu anymore, because even now, he stood nearly at the pinnacle of the Jujutsu world. He only needed a little more time before he would inevitably stand at the very top as the strongest existence.

However, things like magic, Divine Protections, or Authorities were things he had never seen before. Unknown existences always commanded more attention. If possible, he wanted to see for himself what these things would look like under the observation of the Six Eyes.

Having understood these things, the Satoru Gojo who had just shown a bit of drive reverted once more to his previous lazy demeanor.

"Alright! Now, let's go taste the specialty desserts of this country!"

Satoru didn't care to think too much about anything else. He would take things as they came. Besides, that so-called "protagonist" hadn't appeared yet; right now should be considered "free time."

With a tourist's mindset, Satoru Gojo began searching for desserts that caught his fancy. As it happened, his path took him past the fruit stall from earlier.

The fierce-looking middle-aged man felt a surge of anger the moment he saw Satoru Gojo. But before he could speak, Satoru tossed four copper coins onto the table and snatched another apple.

"Your apples are great. I like them."

The middle-aged man blinked. Seeing Satoru Gojo's thumbs-up and the four copper coins, the anger on his face vanished. He gave a grunt, swept up the coins, and nodded to Satoru.

Eating the sweet and juicy apple, Satoru Gojo's figure vanished into the crowd in an instant.
