Sam: Mom? Are we going to see Grandma?

Maya: Soon, Sam. I have to settle the… old house first.

Panel 4

Close up on Sam's face. He looks worried.

Sam: Is the cottage going away?

Panel 5

Maya looks away, looking guilty.

Maya: It's just… it's too hard to keep up now that she's moved to the assisted living apartment. It's not "home" anymore.

Panel 6

Sam hugs his knees.

Sam: But that's where the memory tree is.

Transition to: The cottage again. Maya and Sam arrive. The garden is overgrown.

Panel 2

Maya looks at the cottage with a complex expression—nostalgia mixed with annoyance.

Maya: It's so small. I don't know how she stayed here so long.

Panel 3

Sam runs toward a large willow tree in the backyard.

Sam: Memory tree!

Panel 4

Sam is looking into a small, weathered wooden birdhouse hanging on the tree.

Sam: It's still here!

Panel 2

Maya walks up, looking down at her son.

Maya: Sam, we are here to pack, not play. The realtor is coming in two days.

Panel 3

Sam holds up the rock.

Sam: Grandma said this is the "Heart Stone." She said when you hold it, you know you are safe.

Panel 4

Maya looks at the rock. A memory flashback panel: Young Maya crying, holding the same rock, young Elara comforting her.

Panel 5

Maya brushes hair out of her eyes.

Maya: She said a lot of silly things.

Realtor: Fantastic! Ready for the listing photos? This place has "tear-down potential" written all over it!

Panel 3

Maya looks shocked.

Maya: Tear-down?

Panel 4

Realtor: Oh yeah, people love the land. They just rip the old structure out, put up a modern cube.

Panel 5

Sam holds the Heart Stone tightly.

Sam: No!
