Chapter 30 - Catalyst Solutions

One Year Later

The office was bright. Floor-to-ceiling windows allowed the afternoon sun to flood the room, reflecting off the clean, white surfaces and the lush green plants that lined the walls. There were no green glowing veins in the walls. No hidden monitors.

Adrien sat at a mahogany desk, reviewing the quarterly reports for Catalyst Solutions—the world's leading firm in renewable bio-energy.

"The wind farm in Sector 4 is ahead of schedule," he noted, looking up as the door opened.

Lily walked in, wearing a professional blazer over a neon-pink t-shirt. She was carrying two coffees and a very large bag of gummy bears. "Boring. Tell me something exciting, like how I just hacked the city's traffic grid to give Leon a green light all the way from the harbor."

"Lily, that's illegal," Adrien sighed, but he was smiling.

"It's not illegal if you own the grid," she winked, setting a coffee on his desk.

The door burst open, and Leon strode in, looking sharp in a tailored suit that he still managed to make look like a flight jacket. He was followed by Ashley, who was reading a digital tablet with a focused intensity.

"Traffic was amazing today," Leon grinned, leaning down to steal a gummy bear from Lily's bag. "It's almost like the universe wanted me to get here early."

Ashley looked up from her tablet, her eyes meeting Adrien's. "The merger is complete. Vane Tech and Apex are officially history. We own the patents, the labs, and the legacy. What's our first move as the new board of directors?"

Adrien stood up. He walked to the window, looking out over the city. It was the same city, but it felt different now. Hopeful.

"Our first move?" Adrien asked. He looked back at his team—his family. "We take the day off. I think I know a place that serves the best coffee in the Neutral Zone."

Leon laughed, throwing an arm around Ashley's shoulders. "I'm in. But I'm choosing the music this time."

"Not a chance, Sleepy," Lily chirped, grabbing Adrien's hand and pulling him toward the door. "I've got a playlist that'll blow your mind."

As they walked out together, the camera pulled back, rising above the office, above the skyscraper, and into the warm orange glow of a city sunset. The past was a ghost, the memories were a gift, and the future was theirs to write.

THE END.
