Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Rage in the Dark

The corners of Wang Zhenbang's mouth twisted into a savage grin.

"Oh? You like it rough?"

His sneer morphed into a beast-like growl. He had completely lost his mind. Those filthy hands no longer held back.

Tearing. Kneading. Violating.

The sound of fabric ripping blended with the thunder, becoming the harshest accompaniment in this stormy night.

"Let me go! You beast!"

My screams had already turned hoarse. My throat tasted of blood.

Every struggle only earned me harsher suppression. He pinned me down beneath him with crushing force.

One thrust. Two. Three.

Heavy, brutal impacts—each one like a blunt weapon smashing against my bones. Every inch of my skin was screaming. Every nerve was snapping.

In the suffocating dizziness, I took one last glance at the bookshelf. That teddy bear. The teddy bear with a camera hidden in its left eye. The red light was still flashing. Once. Once more. Like a beating heart. Like a stopwatch counting down the seconds.

Hold on, Lin Wan. Just hold on a little longer.

As long as that red light stays on, all of this is worth it.

Wang Zhenbang's movements grew increasingly frenzied. He was venting, marking his territory like a wild animal.

The pain reached its breaking point. The world began to spin. The light blurred. The thunder grew distant. Even my own cries sounded far away.

All that remained was the sickening, rhythmic pounding.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

It felt as if someone was hammering directly on my skull. My consciousness started to scatter, like a small boat sinking in a violent storm.

Finally, after countless despairing impacts, I could no longer hold on. My eyelids grew heavy as if filled with lead. My head lolled weakly to the side. And then I blacked out completely.

...

I don't know how long it had been.

A bone-piercing chill jolted me awake.

Had the rain stopped?

No.

It was because the clothes on my body were gone.

I forced my eyes open. My vision was blurry; it took a long while before it finally focused.

The sofa beneath me—or rather, the makeshift bed pieced together from it—was completely soaked.

I couldn't tell whether it was rainwater, sweat, or red wine.

I reached out and touched it.

Sticky. Wet.

A slippery, nauseating sensation met my fingertips.

It was blood.

Mixed with some other unspeakable fluid.

Dark red and brownish streaks snaked along the leather grain like ugly centipedes.

A massive wave of humiliation crashed over me like a tsunami, drowning me instantly.

My stomach churned violently.

I turned my body sharply to the side and retched, but nothing came out—only acidic bile that burned my throat.

My body felt as if it had been taken apart and put back together wrong. Every joint ached. Every patch of skin was on fire.

I lost my virginity.

The thought sprouted like poisonous weeds in my mind, growing wildly.

I, Lin Wan, had stayed clean my entire life.

Yet tonight, in this thunderstorm, I had been completely defiled.

Tears poured out uncontrollably.

Not from grievance.

From hatred.

A hatred so intense I wanted to carve Wang into a thousand pieces.

My hands trembled as I tried to wipe away the filth on my body, but the motion froze halfway.

No.

It wasn't over yet.

Enduring the heart-piercing pain, I slowly turned my head and looked toward the bookshelf.

Toward that teddy bear.

In the darkness, that faint red light was still flickering.

Stubbornly. Calmly.

Like an eye that would never close.

It had seen everything.

Wang Zhenbang's twisted, ferocious face. His violent hands. My desperate eyes. The mess on this bed, the crime that filled this room.

Every image. Every sound. Every piece of evidence.

Had been captured completely, clearly, and irrefutably—

etched into that tiny hard drive.

I lay there in the pool of sticky blood and fluids, yet the corners of my mouth slowly curved into a strange, eerie smile.

Wang Zhenbang.

You thought you had conquered me?

No.

You have personally delivered yourself to the guillotine.

This hunt…

has only just begun.
