Chapter 33 - Chapter 33 Tunnel Chase

Shen Muyu became more focused than ever after entering the forked tunnel. She encountered the forked tunnel relatively late and was afraid that those who had entered earlier might be lying in ambush before her.

"Xiao A, tell me immediately if anything seems amiss." Xiao A's radar can see further and is more accurate than hers, which will protect her to the greatest extent possible.

Da Bai sensed the tension emanating from Shen Muyu, and its eyes changed accordingly. It was no longer the playful and adorable creature it had been before; its eyes became resolute.

"Stop the car!" Little A shouted urgently after driving for a short while.

Shen Muyu, who was already focused, instantly stepped on the brakes. Both the man and the dog were pulled forward by inertia, and would have been hit if they hadn't been wearing seat belts.

"What's wrong, Xiao A?" Shen Muyu asked, puzzled as he looked at the empty tunnel ahead.

"Master, there are many nails scattered on the ground ahead," Little A's electronic voice announced.

Shen Muyu was taken aback, then leaned forward and looked carefully. Sure enough, some iron nails were slightly reflected under the headlights, but because the road was full of sand and gravel and the surrounding light was insufficient, they were not visible at all without careful observation.

Shen Muyu narrowed his eyes slightly, then took out a pistol and a bulletproof steel plate and got out of the car.

She used a diamond axe to chisel a hole in the bulletproof steel plate last night and then tied it with hemp rope, making it a makeshift protective shield.

The tunnel wasn't very wide, and it was almost entirely covered with nails. Perhaps to minimize the damage, they were laid out for a length of three or four meters, with a rough estimate of three or four hundred nails.

Shen Muyu used the steel plate to push the nails in the middle to both sides, clearing a passage for people to pass through.

Without saying anything, Shen Muyu got into the car, but this time she slowed down a little.

The car's tires were just ordinary tires; if it hit those nails, it would definitely have blown out. In addition, the tunnel was a bit narrow, and if the driver lost control of the steering wheel, it could easily crash into the stone wall.

The tunnel became narrower as they went further, and Shen Muyu encountered three more nail traps along the way, but with Xiao A by his side, nothing serious happened.

The further you go in the nail array, the fewer nails there are. Just now, only a dozen or so were scattered here and there. Shen Muyu estimated that the other side was almost out of nails. After all, the drop rate of iron blocks is not high, and it is already quite good that they have this many nails in stock.

As the stone wall tightened, Shen Muyu's car speed actually increased. Now, the distance between them was so great that they were practically hugging the stone wall. He couldn't even open the car door. Even if the tire blew out, the pressure from the stone wall would prevent any major accidents.

As for the minor scrapes, Shen Muyu didn't care anymore. She could just replace the bulletproof plates. Her most important task now was to catch up with the car in front of her, otherwise she would suffer along the way and wouldn't be able to find a single resource box.

In this race where speed was prioritized over style, Shen Muyu finally caught a glimpse of light ahead.

The two cars were driving very slowly, probably to minimize the risk of a collision, and the distance between them was constantly decreasing.

Just as Shen Muyu had gotten a general idea of what the car in front looked like, it suddenly accelerated. Shen Muyu smiled slightly and accelerated as well.

The two cars were speeding through the extremely narrow tunnel as if they were courting death.

Because the road was uneven, Shen Muyu's car bumped into the stone wall with slight swaying, and the screeching friction sound was particularly noticeable in the tunnel.

Big White seemed to be very sensitive to the sound and silently buried its head.

Shen Muyu caught a glimpse of this scene out of the corner of her eye, a hint of heartache flashing across her face. However, this was a crucial moment, and she could only ask Da Bai to hold on. She would definitely make it up to it that night.

The car became very heavy due to various facilities and parts, but the engine remained unchanged, so acceleration was very difficult. After accelerating to a relatively high limit, it could not go any higher, so Shen Muyu had no choice but to use this speed.

The car in front had plenty of horsepower, but it had to control its speed after each collision. Even so, the gap between the two cars continued to widen.

Shen Muyu pursed her lips, still pressing the accelerator firmly without giving up. She didn't believe the car in front would keep driving like that forever; she would eventually catch up.

Finally, the narrow tunnel ahead suddenly widened, and Shen Muyu noticed that the car in front suddenly veered to the side, and then the window was rolled down and some things spilled out.

Shen Muyu knew those were nails without even looking. After exiting the narrow tunnel, she changed direction and, with Xiao A's guidance, perfectly avoided the nails.

Just as the nails were being placed, the car in front had no choice but to slow down. After all, it takes skill to maintain control of the steering wheel while ensuring that the nails don't puncture your rear tires.

The car in front slowed down, but Shen Muyu didn't. The gap between the two cars narrowed immediately, and taking advantage of this opportunity, Shen Muyu aimed directly at the rear of the car in front and crashed into it.

The impact wasn't very strong, since the car in front was also accelerating. However, the driver of the car in front lost control of the steering wheel due to the sudden collision, causing the car to swerve and inevitably slow down.

"Dabai, come here!" Shen Muyu called out, and Dabai immediately stretched out its head.

Shen Muyu shifted her body to the side, and the front half of Da Bai's body squeezed in completely.

"Dabai, hold the steering wheel down and don't let it move." Shen Muyu reached out a hand and pressed Dabai's paw onto the steering wheel.

Big White understood what she meant, and immediately lay down on the back of the car, pressing its hind legs firmly against the driver's seat.

Seeing this, Shen Muyu rolled down the car window, took out a pistol, and shot at the car in front.

The two cars were very close, and Shen Muyu hit the tire of the car in front without much effort. However, the first shot only hit the rim, and it took two more shots to blow the tire out.

Because of the tire blowout, the car swerved and crashed into the stone wall. Shen Muyu stepped on the brakes in time to avoid hitting it.

The front of the car in front was dented from the impact, and the hood was also deformed, with smoke coming out.

Shen Muyu didn't move, quietly observing the movements of the car in front. After a while, the car door was opened, and a person struggled to climb out.

The person didn't seem to be seriously injured; he climbed out and stood up.

Using the car headlights, Shen Muyu could see the man clearly. He was a man in his thirties or forties, with stubble around his mouth, making it almost impossible to see his face.

He walked towards Shen Muyu's car with his hands raised, shouting that he hadn't brought anything with him and begging Shen Muyu not to kill him.

Shen Muyu thought for a moment, picked up her gun, opened the car door, and got out of the car. But she didn't go far; she just stood at the car door, which blocked her way.

"I didn't mean any harm. What I did before was to protect myself. I didn't mean to hurt you." The man kept rambling on, but he didn't stop walking. He kept raising his hands and tentatively moving forward.

Shen Muyu simply stared at him, her expression indifferent, and said nothing.

Finally, the man walked to a spot not far from the car. While he was muttering to himself, he suddenly seized an opportunity, pulled something out of his sleeve, and lunged at the car.

Shen Muyu immediately raised his hand and fired a shot. Although the bullet hit the man and he staggered back a few steps due to the impact, Shen Muyu still fired several more shots.

After the man collapsed to the ground and lay motionless, Shen Muyu suddenly bent over and vomited.
