Chapter 50 - Cassius Breakdown

After Elias left the town hall, alongside his companions, Catherine and Patricia. The village elders and I are stunned, ever since I begged my brother to do the right thing, he insisted on completing the job alone. I sensed his drastic change of becoming a luminous knight.

Even if he accepted the request, I was felt bad from my brother about from what I had said. It was a disgrace, I recalled the words that pierced it's heart anew, he wouldn't change his schemes, instead, he would only rely on his little sister, which is me.

From what I had witnessed, Elias smiled on himself. Even if I was dumped into another world, no matter the situation. I always put of being his little sister before anything else. Even if one of my families had transformed into a completely different person. It was really something to be praised.

Considering how nicely my brother had been treated this far, it would have been easy for Elias to just say "You don't know what I've been through!" or "How could you possibly understand!" Like I said in the beginning, he had every right to call everything I'd said shallow words from someone who's been too much.

As I was about to leave the town hall, Cassius steps back and commented me,

"Eirene! Wait, I have something to tell you!"

"Cassius?"

"I'm sorry I'd dragged you to this, it's all my fault. It's all my fault that my party died, it's all my fault about the village. I've never planned from becoming an adventurer, I should've died."

Cassius wept out while the village elders grew tense, His foolish act had led this from the start. All from the missing party, the chimera attack and coincidentally, the attack of the high orcs. Cassius doubts himself that he is the one who caused all of this. He grieved in despair.

"Fuck! Fuck! I should've stayed in the manor, I should've become a proud nobleman. Why? Why did I become an adventurer? Why did I dragged into this? All because of money? Fame?"

As hearing Cassius dwells, I sensed that he was in a mental breakdown, not only Elias was affected, but Cassius was felt guilty about his actions, it's self-motivation shattered in an instant. There was not a single hope from Cassius, only grief.

Trying to calm himself down, I slapped his face for dramatic effect, and lend out a heartwarming message.

"Snap out of it Cassius, Lord Phillip didn't give up on you. He sent me just to protect you, to induct a search through you. You should be ashamed on yourself. All your families care for you, so there was nothing bother dying in guilt? Isn't there a reason you survived down that cavern? Huh?"

Cassius face went blank, like a dead fish that come out of the aquarium, it's message struck deep through his heart, the same as I did for Elias. His hope didn't lost, his dream replenished in an instant, and it's love from his family has been restored.

"Yeah? People do care about me, I immediately remembered my parents. I was too stubborn about being an adventurer. The truth is, I was scared, I was more of a coward. Lord Phillip motivates me to become an adventurer, but maybe do God gave me a second chance."

As he said that, I instantly remembered the ruler of Town Allure, Lord Phillip, bowed his head through an adventurer. I think of it he looked like he'd learned proper manners from Snow Flower, the previous ruler.

As Cassius desperate cries arose, he wipes his tears with its worn-out sleeves. And we proceed to go out. As we were stepping on the door. One of the village elders asks through me.

"Eirene! Before you leave, I want you to protect our villagers from these monsters. I know that this is reckless, but it is our only option."

"Roger that!"

"We will remind our village to evacuate. As sake of our safety, we would push your lives before that. Considering that you will face a thousand monsters all by yourself."

We left the town hall along with Cassius, based from Elias's intel, the hordes of high orcs will arrive two days. There is no exact time, but he reminded that there are a thousand high orcs marching at the Rebelbub Village, from which is more of a challenge.

My first option is that, I will spam my blood arrows at a safer distance. Since my blood bow has a built-in homing arrows, almost one of my shots will not miss. The downside is that, my mana will be easily depleted. So it is a no-go from me.

My second option or possibly my favorite option is to engage the high orcs myself, with the use of my blood sword. Since my blood sword contains self-healing when dealing damage. It is basically unkillable when in the hands of my sword. But I wasn't sane from me to do it. As going the horde of monsters alone would be suicide.

"Roxy, come listen to me!" Plasma cleaving through my thoughts

"What is it? Plasma?"

"Come to think of it? It's been a month since your first awakening of your blood curse. But you barely made any progress at all. You drank exactly 85 liters of blood. Still lower than I expected."

"Come on Plasma, you know blood is disgusting. Despite it's yummy flavor, it feels weird to know that drinking blood from the public is a crime."

"Crime? Are there any legal laws considering drinking blood. I never heard that law since I was born."

"Born? So you do have a previous life after all. Tell me Plasma, I'm curious!"

"No you can't, but I had access from your past memories on Earth. As far from what I can tell, I never knew the Roxanne Albatross that existed from Andromeda, I bet Marcel was grieving from your death, even in a long time."

"Plasma, you know what. Shut up!!"

As I was mad about Plasma's response, Cassius noticed and asks me a simple question.

"Eirene, excuse me? Is there bothering you?" Cassius said politely

"No, it's nothing. I'm just speaking to myself."

"Huh? Strange, I heard a manly voice responded to you. Meh… I guess you do speak for yourself. You're quite weird Eirene."

"No worries Cassius, I swear I'll protect this village."

After our conversation, we headed to the silver diamond inn, where we will be staying for the night. Because of the village elders request, we rented the room for free. Not a single penny was wasted.

There, I went into my old room as before. The ashes flew around the fireplace, the chandelier loses its light, and the midnight wind started to arise.

Thoughts of the day ran through my mind as I closed my eyes. I thought of Cassius running me around like a partner, and of the way and I had been stick at his beck and call the whole evening.

The soft bed made contact through my soft skin, and I fell into slumber
