———

The classroom buzzed with noise.

Girls whispered. Boys complained. Teachers lectured.

And in the very back row…

Saint slept.

Head resting on his arm, silver hair falling over his eyes, completely unbothered.

"Mr Asakura!"

The teacher's voice snapped through the room.

No response.

A piece of chalk flew—tap—right against his forehead.

Slowly… Saint opened one eye.

"…What?"

The class froze.

Even annoyed, his voice carried a quiet weight. The kind that made people hesitate.

"Pay attention," the teacher snapped.

Saint blinked once… then closed his eyes again.

"Not interested." Saint said indifferently

Laughter broke out.

The teacher's face turned red.

Across the room, Aidan Clarke clenched his pen.

Unbelievable.

Top grades. Top athlete. Student council.

And yet—

Everyone was looking at him.

Not Aidan.

Not the perfect one.

No.

They looked at the boy who didn't care.

———

PRINCIPAL OFFICE

The knock was lazy.

"Come in."

The door creaked open, and Saint stepped inside like he owned the place.

Hands in pockets. Shirt slightly untucked. Expression unreadable.

Behind the desk, Principal Hoshino (55) watched him carefully.

She had seen hundreds of students.

Troublemakers. Geniuses. Liars.

But Saint…

He didn't fit into any category.

"Sit."

Saint dropped into the chair without a word, leaning back, eyes half-lidded.

Silence stretched.

Then—

"Do you enjoy causing chaos?" She said playfully

Saint didn't even blink.

"…Not really."

Her brow furrowed. "Then why?"

No answer.

She leaned forward, voice softer now.

"Smoking on school grounds. Skipping classes. Setting off the fire alarm."

A pause.

"…That's not you."

Saint's eyes shifted slightly.

For the first time—barely noticeable—there was a flicker.

Then it disappeared.

"You don't know me," he said flatly.

Principal Hoshino shook her head.

"No. But I knew the boy you used to be."She said

That landed.

Not visibly.

But something in the air tightened.

"You were polite," she continued.

"Quiet. Observant. Always watching, always thinking."

Her gaze sharpened.

"You weren't careless."

Saint let out a quiet breath, almost a laugh—but colder.

"People change."

"Not like this."

Silence again.

This time heavier.

More personal.

She stood, walking around the desk slowly, stopping in front of him.

"Saint…"

Her voice dropped.

"…what happened to you?"

For a moment—

Just a moment—

His eyes met hers fully. And what she saw—

Made her chest tighten.

It wasn't anger.

It wasn't rebellion.

It was emptiness.

And something far darker behind it.

"…Nothing," he said.

A lie.

She knew it.

He knew it.

But neither pushed further.

"Your mother—" she began.

Saint's expression hardened instantly.

"Don't."

The word cut sharp.

Clean.

Final.

Principal Hoshino froze.

"…Selene cares about you," she said carefully.

"I know."

"Then why are you hurting her like this?"

That question lingered.

For a second too long.

Saint looked away, gaze drifting toward the window.

"…I'm not."

"You are."

Another silence.

Then—

He stood.

Conversation over.

"I'm done here."

"Saint."

He paused at the door.

Her voice softened again.

"…You don't have to carry everything alone."

His hand rested on the handle.

For a brief second—

He didn't move.

And in that second…

He almost looked like the boy she remembered.

Almost.

"…I'm not alone."

But the way he said it—

Cold.

Distant.

Like a fact, not comfort—

Made it clear.

Whoever was with him now…

Was not someone she would want to meet.

The door opened.

"Saint—"

Too late.

He was already gone.

Outside the Office

The hallway buzzed again.

Students whispering.

Watching.

Always watching.

Saint walked past them without a glance.

Unbothered.

Untouchable.

From around the corner—

Mira Kurose leaned against the wall, arms crossed.

"Took you long enough."

Riven Takahashi smirked. "You get a lecture?"

Saint shrugged.

"Something like that."

Mira studied his face carefully.

"…You okay?"

A beat.

Then—

The familiar smirk returned.

Lazy. Careless.

"Yeah."

Lie.

She didn't call him out on it.

Riven stretched. "We heading out?"

Saint glanced toward the exit.

Then toward the classrooms.

Then—

Back to them.

"…Yeah."

As they walked away—

Far behind them—

Principal Hoshino stood at her window.

Watching.

Worried.

Because she knew one thing for certain—

That boy…

Was walking down a path he might never come back from.

The Hidden King

The abandoned gym behind the school was silent.

Except for the faint sound of a lighter clicking.

Saint leaned back, exhaling smoke lazily.

Mira sat across from him, arms crossed.

Riven lay on the floor, staring at the ceiling.

"You skipped all day again," Riven said.

Saint shrugged.

Mira's phone buzzed.

She glanced at it… then looked up.

"Another gang."

Saint didn't react.

"They're moving into our territory."

Still nothing.

"…Orders?" she asked.

Silence.

Then—

Saint stood.

The air shifted instantly.

Gone was the lazy, bored student.

In his place—

Something else.

Cold.

Sharp.

Dangerous.

"Handle it." Saint said.

Mira smirked. "Thought you'd say that."

Riven grinned. "Man, they're screwed."

Saint walked past them.

"Don't make it messy."

————

Back at school—

Fire alarm

Smoke curled from the bathroom.

Students screamed as alarms blared.

Teachers rushed.

Water systems activated.

And in the chaos—

Saint walked out calmly, hands in pockets.

A teacher grabbed him. "Did you do this?!"

Saint glanced at him.

Bored.

"…Yeah."

"WHY?!"

He shrugged.

"I was bored."

Across the hallway—

Aidan stared in disbelief.

Lyra and Yue stood frozen.

And Selene—

Who had just arrived—

Looked at Saint like she didn't recognize him anymore.

Two years ago.

Age sixteen.

Saint disappeared.

No goodbye.

No explanation.

Selene called.

Again.

And again.

And again.

No answer.

But far away—

In a hidden underground facility—

Hiroshi Sato watched a screen.

Saint's file glowed on it.

Subject: SA-01

Status: Successful

Hiroshi adjusted his glasses.

"A perfect result…"

The car accident.

The experiment.

The survival.

None of it was chance.

He had chosen Saint.

Even as a child.

Even knowing it would destroy everything.

And now—

Saint had become something beyond human.
