Chapter 1 - 1

Chapter 1 Entering the Game

Zheng Wudi owned a 40-square-meter apartment, which she bought outright. Of course, this wasn't because she was a high earner, but rather thanks to compensation from a demolition project. The apartment was decorated very warmly and in a very girlish pink.

Actually, the apartment's decor was modeled after Zheng Wudi's childhood room. After Zheng Wudi was born, her parents decorated it in a way most girls would like.

However, Zheng Wudi was rebellious and completely went against the grain.

Zheng Wudi had disliked this decor style since she was little and had always been itching to change it.

After Zheng Wudi's relentless pestering, her parents finally agreed.

But before she could even find a renovation company, Zheng Wudi's parents died in a car accident.

Fearing she would forget these memories, Zheng Wudi decorated her new apartment to resemble her old room.

It was 1 PM, and the sun shone through the balcony onto the bed.

Zheng Wudi, wearing a fluffy dinosaur pajama set, lay on her bed, scrolling idly through her phone, sighing as she scrolled, "So boring! It's just too boring! I'm tired of scrolling through my phone!"

She had been laid off from her small company last November. At first, Zheng Wudi was full of confidence in her job search, but the current job market was simply too difficult to describe!

Zheng Wudi searched for a month and encountered too many bizarre companies; there were jobs with only two days off a month, and others that considered social insurance and housing funds as employee benefits... Thankfully, her remaining demolition compensation, plus the money she saved from three years of work, was enough for her to live a life of leisure.

Ding-a-ling-a-ling... Her phone rang, and Zheng Wudi flew to grab the takeout left at her door.

Zheng Wudi placed her phone on the table, chose a video to watch while eating, and slowly opened the takeout box, savoring the rich sauce of the Northeastern Malatang. She slurped a mouthful of corn noodles deeply, letting out a satisfied sigh. "Delicious! This shop is truly amazing; I never get tired of it! I'll leave a good review after I finish!"

Zheng Wudi ate her fill, humming a tune as she carried the takeout box to the trash can. Just as she was about to lie back on the bed, a sudden dizzying sensation overwhelmed her... By the time she came to her senses, she was no longer in her familiar apartment.

Zheng Wudi's eyes widened as she surveyed her surroundings. She saw only a Highway ahead, the road surface smooth and paved with asphalt. There were green belts on both sides of the Highway, but they looked artificial, as she had never seen a season where plum blossoms bloomed and willows grew lush simultaneously.

Strange, truly strange!

Had she transmigrated? Why was there no one on the Highway in front of her?

What was going on? Why was this Highway so long, with no other roads intersecting it?

Was she on an expressway? It didn't look like it!

Zheng Wudi was puzzled. Since she had transmigrated, why hadn't she been given any identity information?

The location of her transmigration was also a bit different from what was written in novels!

Zheng Wudi analyzed her transmigration identity while looking at the Highway before her.

Suddenly, an interface appeared, similar to what one might see in a game, and a game explanation sounded in her ears.

"Welcome, Blue Star players, to the HighwaySurvival Game. This is Zone 33026. Please read the game rules carefully below:"

"1. Players entering the game must be between 13 and 65 years old; those outside this age range will have time frozen in their original world! Game success, unfreeze! Game failure, no life will survive on the entire Blue Star!"

"2. Death in the game is real death. Life is priceless, cherish life!"

"3. At the start of the game, there will be one chance to draw a vehicle as a means of transport. Other supplies need to be acquired by oneself. Additionally: the system will give everyone a New Player Gift Pack (Newbie Gift Pack), which can be claimed from the game panel!"

"4. There will be scattered treasure chests along both sides of the Highway. Please try to collect them; they are key to survival!"

"5. Upgrade your vehicle as much as possible; this will help you resist more damage. Friendly reminder: a vehicle that is too low-level will not be very safe after the newbie period!"

"6. Driving hours: 8:30 AM-11:30 AM, 2:00 PM-5:00 PM. Vehicle mileage will not increase during daytime rest periods. Night driving is dangerous, as monsters will spawn. Within five meters of your vehicle is safe!"

"7. Do not trust other players. They may be your allies, or they may kill and rob you! Note: if a player dies, their vehicle will also disappear with them, but the deceased player's supplies can be acquired!"

"8. You can open the game panel with your mind to view more information!"

"9. At the end of the newbie period, there will be disasters! The system will announce them in the system bulletin and @ all players in the chat area. Of course, clever players can also get disaster hints in advance from supply boxes!"

"10. The newbie period lasts for seven days. During this period, collecting treasure chests carries no risk! Please cherish this brief and precious seven-day period, players!"

"Friendly reminder: staying in place will lead to unfortunate events!"

Zheng Wudi saw a two-minute countdown timer at the bottom of the game rules interface. Fearing the rules would disappear, she immediately opened the game panel and found the game rules explanation section in the bottom left, instantly breathing a sigh of relief.

Zheng Wudi relaxed and carefully examined the game panel that appeared before her.

In the upper left corner of the game panel were several sections: System Bulletin, Personal Information, Vehicle Information, Backpack, Trading Zone, Regional chat area, etc.

Zheng Wudi remembered the vehicle draw mentioned in the game rules and the claim for the Newbie Gift Pack, so she opened the game bulletin, which had a red dot, to check it.

There were two unread notifications in the game bulletin.

Zheng Wudi clicked on the vehicle draw information, and a game roulette wheel popped up, but there was only one option to draw: an electric scooter!

What the hell was this? It said 'draw a vehicle,' and she thought there would be many choices! But the entire panel was just electric scooters; no matter how she drew, there was only one option. Was this the "vehicle draw" the system spoke of?

The system was quite humorous, wasn't it?! It clearly only had one outcome, but for the sake of appearances, it gave her a choice.

Zheng Wudi laughed out loud in exasperation, but still pressed the draw button.

A brand new black electric scooter appeared in front of Zheng Wudi.

With no hope for a better vehicle, Zheng Wudiplaced her hopes on the Newbie Gift Pack. After opening it, the interface displayed item descriptions:

A military shovel, three bottles of water, four palm-sized white steamed buns, a low-level solar panel, a binding strap, a complete set of stainless steel outdoor cookware (frying pan with handle * 1, 2L cooking pot with handle * 1, hanging pot * 1), a set of apprentice-grade assault jacket and pants, and a pair of apprentice-grade hiking boots.

Zheng Wudi held up the military shovel in front of her, swinging it to simulate a future monster-fighting scenario.

As a system-issued item, the military shovel's quality was superb.

Zheng Wudi rubbed her finger along the sharp edge of the military shovel, tsk-tsk-tsking. Its sharpness was such that killing a pig wouldn't take much effort, and it felt very light in her hand, requiring no great strength. The system was quite thoughtful, how nice!

Zheng Wudi pressed the steamed bun. "Hmm! It's a solid, large steamed bun. With Zheng Wudi's appetite, it could barely last her two or three days."

This solar panel was also very practical; according to the instructions, she wouldn't have to worry about the electric scooter running out of power.

Zheng Wudi carefully examined the Newbie Gift Pack in her hand, then opened the game panel and clicked on her Personal Information.

The game had just started, so there was nothing particularly special in her Personal Information.

Zheng Wudi changed her nickname to "momo" and was about to open the chat area to see what they were talking about, as there were already 999+ unread messages and she wondered what was making it so lively!

Just as the chat area interface was about to open, Zheng Wudi noticed that her Player Items section seemed to have changed.
