Chapter 199 - Chapter 199: The Enlightenment of March 7th

A sudden rush of adrenaline surged through Guinaifen, reminding her of the high-stakes pressure of the Masters Tournament.

The battlefield shifted in the blink of an eye. Beautifly held off both opponents just long enough to slow their advance. Articuno's Blizzard unleashed, catching Blaziken and Gardevoir within a howling wall of frost amplified by the snowy weather.

Having absorbed Blaziken's Quick Attack, Beautifly retreated with fluid grace, avoiding the crossfire of the storm entirely.

"Blaziken, Flame Charge!"

"Gardevoir, Light Screen!"

Blaziken coated itself in rolling fire, blunting the brunt of the icy gale.

Rather than deploying a flat barrier like in standard competitive circuits, Gardevoir conjured multiple translucent, geometric panes of luminous light. The facets caught the ambient glare of the blizzard, refracting the frost into dazzling prisms.

Because Guinaifen's team absorbed the assault with composed theatricality, her Charm gauge barely dropped. Her skillful counter-measure even generated a small bump in points, though the overall score gap still remained wide.

"Beautifly, Gust!"

"Articuno, Hurricane!"

Seeing the opposing side hold the line, March didn't hesitate to press her advantage.

Ice moves dealt reduced damage to Blaziken, making Flying-type attacks the ideal offensive tool.

The two Flying-type techniques coalesced into a colossal vortex, sweeping up sheets of snowflakes from the field before hurtling toward Guinaifen's side.

On paper it was a Flying-type offensive, yet framed by the tempest, it carried all the biting aesthetic of an ice storm. The swirling snowflakes gave the transparent currents a crisp, sculpted presence.

Watching the churning vortex of frost and wind, March felt a strange spark of intuition flicker in the back of her mind, yet the concept remained just out of reach. She furrowed her brow, disliking the sensation of having the answer on the tip of her tongue without quite grasping it.

"Blaziken, keep pushing with Flame Charge!"

"Gardevoir, Teleport into Mystical Fire!"

Guinaifen knew that trading at long range against an Ice-Flying composition would slowly drain her team. She had to close the distance to force a melee scramble.

Using its flaming aura as a battering ram, Blaziken charged directly through the storm. Two consecutive Flame Charges boosted its speed to a blur, powering through the wind blades.

The gale left shallow nicks along its fiery guard, but thanks to its resilient conditioning, the minor cuts meant nothing to its forward momentum.

Gardevoir vanished, reappearing directly behind March's duo.

Bringing a hand to its lips in a playful homage to Xianzhou street performance, it exhaled a sweeping plume of Mystical Fire. With a sharp turn of its head, the ethereal flame spread wide, boxing in both Beautifly and Articuno from behind.

Caught in a sudden pincer, March felt the pressure spike.

"Beautifly, Articuno, use Fly!"

The command slipped out in a moment of panic.

The instant the words left her mouth, March froze, realizing Beautifly was physically incapable of using the move Fly.

Before she could correct herself, she clapped both hands over her mouth in pure astonishment.

Beautifly fired off a sleek strand of String Shot, anchoring itself firmly to Articuno's back.

With a powerful downbeat of its wings, Articuno launched straight into the upper atmosphere, soaring clear out of the flaming pincer.

Bursting through the heavy snow clouds, the legendary bird emerged into the bright sunlight above.

The frost clinging to its plumage melted into sparkling beads of light, catching the sun like a mythical avian deity descending from the heavens. Perched upon its shoulders, Beautifly spread its wings, the crystalline droplets on its colorful wings turning into a sea of glittering prisms.

A soft, collective gasp rippled through the stadium.

Down below, the perspective was entirely different. Looking up, Guinaifen and March could see only the thick, roiling ceiling of the snow cloud, obscuring the duo from view.

The sudden loss of vision made Guinaifen hesitate to commit to another strike.

She inwardly regretted not having Blaziken carry Sunny Day to clear the adverse conditions, though in ordinary Contest routines, a sunny sky offered little visual distinction and had felt unnecessary to practice.

Down on the platform, watching Beautifly anchor itself to Articuno's feathers, March felt the puzzle pieces finally snap together.

The elusive concept she had been struggling to define was simple: freedom, and trusting the independent spirit of her partners.

She had always subconsciously viewed the Pokémon as complex, scripted programs.

In a technical sense, that was true. Yet through massive algorithmic training and dedicated development, Julian's systems had elevated them far beyond simple scripted routines. Their neural behaviors mirrored genuine awareness and personality.

Argenti and Sushang's partners hadn't developed their natural flair through rigid commands; they had absorbed their Trainers' habits into their natural instincts.

Welt's training sessions had never been about memorizing fixed flowcharts. He had been teaching her and her team to internalize the core nature of wind and snow.

Wind represented freedom, boundless and adaptable to any obstacle.

Snow brought structure, cool composure, and quiet, serene elegance.

When combined without rigid restrictions, they naturally amplified each other.

Her Pokémon had already begun developing their own intuitive responses during their training. She had simply been the one holding them back by trying to manage every single step from a playbook.

Uncle Yang's lessons couldn't be handed over as simple instructions; they could only be unlocked once a Trainer trusted the process in the heat of a real trial.

"Then the stage is yours! Fly freely, Beautifly, Articuno!"

"Brave Bird, into full-power Flash!"

The casual mindset of merely participating melted away. In its place returned the true March 7th: vibrant, spirited, bold, and entirely confident that the championship was within reach.

Her commands became fluid and fearless.

A rift tore through the dense cloud cover.

A colossal bird-shaped aura of pure energy plummeted from the heavens, its core radiating a blinding flash of golden-white light so intense that it looked as if a miniature sun were crashing to earth.

The radiant avian avatar cut through the sky, drawing gasps of pure wonder from the arena stands.

Watching from the box seats, Welt noticed the sudden brightness in March's eyes and let out a quiet chuckle.

"She finally understands..."

In this state of mind, Welt was certain that March held the momentum to carry this match to the end.
