Chapter 1 - Chapter 1:The Noble Bastard [1]

Amid a gentle breeze and towering green trees that wrapped them in their shade from the shining sun above, two people sat at a table with tea and desserts.

"It's been a while since we left the Duchy, hasn't it?" the older woman said, sitting across from Kael.

Kael, who had been watching the clouds, turned his head toward her. "…Yes, it has been a while since we left that place together, Mother." His gaze drifted down to his reflection in the tea.

Relina hummed softly with the breeze, closing her eyes as she felt its gentle touch against her skin.

Lost in thought, Kael reflected, 'It's been three and half years since I came back to the past.'

The unwanted memories came back to him, Kael exhaled, 'I hope you're satisfied with the progression, you bastard'

Just the reminder of 'him' makes him irritated.

CLANG! SWISS! CLANG!

The sword was swung at the horrid version of Kael, with such looks he couldn't be recognized as a human at all.

"You're too slow, oh so called 'Hero'!" Kael screeched and swung his inhumane hand against Theodore Leif.

Theodore blocked Kael's fists with his silver sword, gleaming like a jewel. "Kael Rowan, I've never been this disgusted with anyone... you'll die by my blade for what you did!"

Theodore crouched down under Kael's charged fist and punched him in the face making him waver. Theodore clenched his blade and stabbed him in the right shoulder.

Kael let out a loud scream but despite that he grasped Theodore by the shoulders and kicked him in the stomach, making him fly towards the nearby house.

Kael held the handle of the sword and threw it far away, in an instant he dashed towards Theodore and stopped on him, only to see no one there. "Where did he go!" He spun his head right and left.

"I'm here you scum!" Theodore shouted and fell from the sky, stepping on Kael's head and clashing him into the ground. "EVELORA! NOW!!"

That caught Kale off guard, behind the large boulder nearby stood a girl with a silver lock. "O radiant sun, flame of the heavens-" She clenched her silver staff.

Kael struggled to get away and unleashed abysmal power, trying to push Theodore away, "-burn away the darkness within and around me-" Evelora's voice echoed around the battlefield, now her staff shining in gold.

Kael managed to get his fist free and charged at Theodore, but before he could land him his hand was sliced away, beside Theodore stood a man with raven hair. "You truly are a disgrace to your family."

Kael gritted his teeth, "Ryan!"

Ryan looked at Kael in Disgust, "I truly feel bad for dad and your mom, brother, to give birth to such an insolent bastard that tarnished our family name with mud!"

"-let your golden fire grant me strength to punish the corrupted." Evelora finished her prayers and in an instant golden light washed over Kael's cursed, abyssal body, shattering it to pieces.

"AAAHHHHH!" an unpleasant scream came out from Kael.

On the ground, severely injured Kael pants, barely holding himself together. The injuries he suffered were fatal and he felt every inch of the pain his body suffered during the fight.

Tip of the blade made its way to his throat. Theodore standing right in front of Kael with his sword pointed at him. "Any last words?"

Kael gritted his teeth. "How dare you! HOW DARE YOU ACT LIKE YOU'RE INNOCENT!!!" It felt like he just became a little child that cried in her mother's embrace, but instead of tears his eyes cried with blood and rage.

"I'll kill you! I'll make you pay for what you did to my mother! I'll make sure to make your life a living hell! no matter how many times i die! I'll come for you THEODORE!!!" At that moment Kael Rowan, third son of the Duke Rowan took his last breath, his head sliced by the holy blade of Theodore Leif.

Kael Rowan was only remembered as a villain.

Just as his eyes got closed, he woke up in a field of flowers. "Where.. am i?"

[You're in my domain, little aegis] a soft voice rang through the domain. Kael spun his head and saw a massive white snake with red eyes that shines brighter than the sun itself.

Kael looked at its eyes for a while before asking. "Who are you?"

The snake moved closer to Kael, [Ophion, God of Serpentine.] The expression of Ophion resembles that of a grin.

Kael's eyes widened, "a God?" He started to sweat, 'is it here to punish me for what I did? But if a God exists doesn't that mean heaven and hell also exist? Why punish me by itself instead of just throwing me into the fiery pit?' He narrowed his eyes.

With a bitter expression, he bowed his head slightly, looking at the ground filled with flowers. 'It's not like I can just go against a God… and it's not like everything I did was any good either.' Waiting for the punishment from God.

The snake wrapped itself around Kael in an instant. [I'll give you another chance, my Aegis, don't disappoint me this time.]

What?

And an unconsciousness got him, when he opened his eyes once again it was not in the field of flowers, the domain of a God, instead it was a fancy room, filled with all luxury things.

In confusion he immediately got up from his bed only to lose the nerves of his feet and fall into the ground. "Ouch! Ugh…" he hid his eyes with his palms due to the sharp light. "Why is it so bright!?"

"Huh? Is that me?" in the mirror, he saw his reflection, red wavy hair that's yet to reach his shoulder, purple eyes with white-ish pupils. "Why do I look… so young?"

He touched and squeezed his own face and then remembered what Ophion said. [I'll give you another chance, my Aegis, don't disappoint me this time.]

Another chance.

Chance in life.

"I'm back in the past?"
