Chapter 1 - The Multiversal Shop

I originally posted this in my book of Snippets story but I thought it was so good that I had to make this a real story.

*******

"Haaaa…." I sighed to myself while I played on my phone as this life sucked.

You know how it is right, something shit happens and you died, then it was supposed to be either you end up in heaven, be reincarnated or sent straight to hell, you know the usual of how these stories go.

I saw plenty of anime or even read fanfics of people being reincarnated and getting to live new and exciting lives? Well I'm not that.

Somehow, someway, I ended up being the summon of another reincarnator and was forced into the roll of an employee at this Multiversal shop.

Which doesn't sound too bad as I get to meet many characters from across the Multiverse from anime, cartoons, video games, comics, movies and books.

One slight problem though, I am basically invisible to the customers, not to say that they don't notice me but it's like something makes them not want to talk to me unless they want to buy something.

Then again maybe these people have all been to this shop multiple times before and know what they are willing to give up to trade for the items in this shop for a few Store Credits.

But if I try to strike up conversation suddenly the words die in my mouth not allowing me to talk outside of shop related questions and making the sales.

The owner didn't need me here to get to know the customers the owner only needed me to make sales for the shop and that's it.

I mean I can talk like normal while their isn't any customers but when there are I have to go full business mode or else I don't earn my own store credits to buy things for myself.

This store has everything, and when I say anything I do mean anything, from food made from the god of cooking, weapons strong enough to slay gods and destroy worlds, starships that can go FTL speeds, to items that can heal any ailment and revive the dead and even your own personal selection of slaves.

If you can imagine it this shop sells it and for every hour I work I earn myself 1 SC, now that doesn't sound like a lot I know but that single SC could buy someone the equivalent of 1 ton of gold if I wanted too as the price of SC is based upon how powerful/rare/complex/mystical an item is and since gold is found in every universe it's practically worthless within the store.

"Scor~" thinking about this I looked down to my left to see a small rabbit standing up and looking at me with a smile on their face as this was the only friend I had in this place.

I knelt down and pet their head, "I'm glad your around Scorbunny, or else I don't know what I would do with myself." I said as I looked at the pokemon I had purchased after a few days of being stuck in this world.

Yep when I said anything I meant it as even Pokemon could be purchased, however the shop only allows me to have one pet with me while I work at a time so I decided to get one of my favorite starter Pokemon to have for myself to keep me company.

I had been working this job for over a month and I have seen several customers from all over the Multiverse have shown up but it was pointless to remember them as I couldn't interact with them besides selling them what they desire and making trades with what they had.

Though one time it seems a lover of the owner had appeared and demanded to know where he was as he hadn't been to her world in a long time and all I could say was that he hasn't been back in well over a month and I had no way of contacting him either.

I looked up at the nearby wall seeing a count down going 42,952 hours 37 minutes and 12 seconds, that counter appeared after a month of the owner being completely absent and started off at 43,830 hours meaning almost 880 hours or roughly a bit over a month has passed since that counter has started to count down.

Though time flows differently in this place as it's felt like a day has passed but it's been a month, but I think that's due to the fact time returns to its normal speeds when someone is coming to the shop to buy something.

Even though I get paid by the hour that's store hours, so even though a month passed for the count down timer I only earned 10 SC for working 10 hours, luckily this shop isn't like a sweat shop so there are store hours going from 6AM to 4PM Store Time.

So I have really worked here for over a month Store Time in the wider multiverse in reality it's more like 31 months had passed if the timer meant anything.

But time here wasn't a straight line but a flat circle instead so really time only mattered to me when it was my time as while time 'passed' it didn't mean anything as eons could pass and it meant nothing at all to me because I could meet whoever I want and no time could have passed at all.

"Now go back and play with the others alright? I'll get you all a meal after I'm off work." I say to which Scorbunny nods and smiles before going back into the private back room of the shop and entering into another door leading to a Pocket dimension.

I don't just earn SC by the hour but from sales as well letting me get a 5% commission from the sale, but unlike the owner who earns a 50% commission from any sale in the shop at that.

So if someone buys something worth 100SC the owner gets 50SC while I get a measly 5SC as a result.

But luckily for me a few people across the Multiverse have extremely powerful items or skills in their possession that they willingly trade off in order to get rare items in their world that are common in other worlds.

So I had earned a hefty sum of SC and bought myself a pocket dimension for myself to live in with my own little home where Scorbunny and the few other Pokemon I bought can relax and play in.

*Ding Dong Bing Bong*

[It is now 4PM the Multiversal Store is closed for the day]

An automated system message went off that made me sigh in relief, "What a boring day." I mutter to myself as I begin to take off the suit I was forced to wear for my shift as I stretched and cracked my neck before heading off to the backroom and opening my personal door into my own Pocket dimension.

My Scorbunny along with a Eevee, Pichu and Vulpix were all running around and playing with each other.

Seeing this I smiled before I went inside to prepare food for them, four small bottles of MooMoo milk, along with me making some Poffins and cookies for the little ones and making a sandwich for myself with premium grade ingredients.

After I finished I called my Pokemon together for dinner to which they all happily ate together along with me.

After we finished they went out to play some more, when they are done they could come back inside to watch some cartoons from the Pokemon world before going to bed.

Meanwhile I went up to my bedroom and looked at my Deep Dive Virtual Reality Chair along with my gaming set up and bed that I had in my room.

I was an advid gamer in my old life so games were my only solace during this indentured servitude I found myself in.

So I laid back in my chair before pulling on my headset and dropping myself within the game world I had found myself playing for the last month or so.

[Welcome to Yggdrasil]

The screen said as I logged in before I fully appeared within my guild base as I looked around the meeting room to see a familiar skeleton along with a few others discussing what has been going on since I left.

"Ah [Orion] welcome back." the skeleton in magical robes said when he and the rest saw my arrival.

"It's good to be back guys, so what did I miss?" I ask before the clan begins to discuss what we are going to do today.

With people like these this job I'm forced into is at least bearable to live in.
