Chapter 1 - DETERMINATION

"Ah..!?"

"It hurts.."

"Mom, Dad..!?, where are you

the pain awakens his consciousness, his eyes can't— See anything at all, caused by the billowing Smoke and sand that bind his eyes, "where are all of you, please hel.." his lips stop speaking. The pain he holds can no longer be restrained by words, his heart no longer emits the flame of life's spirit.

"Is this the end..?, wasn't this what I wanted all along," he whispers in his mind.

His breath gradually disappears, worsened by the billowing sand that erodes His lungs. "Maybe this is for the best.."

His consciousness begins to fade, devoured by time, His breath begins to stop, worn away and torn apart by the bindings of sand and smoke.

His strength is gone, his mind has drifted away, leaving his body. but at the end of his life, he is stunned by his mother's whisper that seems faint, yet is deeply remembered by him,

That voice is like a melody and energetic to him, The whisper says, "mother.., mother wants to see you grow and live to become a strong person."

That whisper is a message he received when he was at his lowest point.

(Sounds of crying, screams, are heard from all directions.) (The sounds of stone walls collapsing are heard very clearly everywhere.)

His hand that had loosened now grips tightly again, his determination that had disappeared begins to rebuild little by little, his body starts crawling forward again, trying to keep living. "I.. I want to keep living..!! For my father and mother," he shouts loudly, while hitting the ground beneath him.

With a thin, weak body, full of wounds all over, and his legs numb, he moves forward enduring thousands of pains he feels—like crawling over thousands of sharp blades ready to injure his body at any time.

"Ahh..!!," he screams, his tears can no longer be held back and wet his face.

Moments after he moves forward, a very large explosion is heard. a strong gust of wind blows toward him, causing the rocks, soil, and billowing smoke and sand to be swept away by that immensely powerful wind.

(Bushh..!!)

For a moment his eyes cannot see clearly, But when his vision begins to improve, what he sees is something that even his mind cannot process.

With widened pupils, trembling hands and lips, his determination falls into the deepest pit of fear.

(Silence covers everything, even the sound of his heartbeat can no longer be heard.)

The sight he sees is a place of torment that has manifested upon the surface of the world,

Before his mouth can scream, his entire body has already gone numb from the horror he sees.

"Wh... what is this!? Is this still my village?" he mutters.

"Dar.. the sound of explosions rumbles again everywhere."

What appears now is only a village that has been devoured by fire, houses made of stone destroyed just like that, some collapsed, some completely gone-no longer fit to be called shelter, human corpses piled up irregularly are seen everywhere, like useless trash-their condition can no longer even be called human, some bodies are burned completely while protecting their children, some are split into two while impaled on wooden stakes revealing the brain, intestines, and other human organs.

"Wh.. where can I go..!? Where should I take shelter...!?" he says repeatedly.

In this state, his body keeps moving forward, but his mind and heart have already surrendered to life.

At a time like this, he sees the shadow of his mother.

A faint glimpse of his mother, standing upright in neat and elegant clothing amidst the destruction, makes him regain the flame of life called spirit. "Mo.. mother, have you come to pick me up..!?" the tears that fall onto his cheeks he wipes-With his clothes that are covered in blood and sand clinging to them.

A smile appears beautifully drawn on his face- His eyes widen, his mind now filled only with sweet and bitter memories with his mother.

The sunlight shines across every corner of the place, as if the universe is giving him a message and encouragement.

(The sound of explosions turns into the sound of cries of loss.)

His body crawls forward-making his clothes covered with dirt and his wounds opening wider. "Mother... I promise I will live and grow well..!" he murmurs softly yet with strong meaning.

"Sert-sert:" the sound of his clothes rubbing directly against the ground.

Even though blocked by the ruins of buildings, he still tries to move forward, he exhausts his strength to keep going.

"Akh... bastard," he shouts in pain.

For a moment as he is about to reach his mother's figure, the sound of breaking wood is heard from above beside his body.

(Darr..)

The wood breaks apart and falls onto half of his body—that wood strikes his tailbone, to the point the sound of the bone breaking is heard clearly.

Screams and cries are heard repeatedly from his lips, but his heart does not want to stop and die here-with all his strength he endures the pain by biting his own lips, until gradually his lips begin to tear and bleed, "damn... damn" he shouts in his mind.

(With all his strength, the wood still does not budge.)

"Why... why do I have this damn body, God..!?"

Again and again he tries to crawl while carrying the broken wood on his body, his hands grasping the ground to keep moving forward— Making his hands filled with dirt and sand, gradually his nails begin to come off.

But he still wants to move forward and keep moving forward without caring how destroyed his body becomes—veins all over his body begin to show and writhe out irregularly.

His spirit never fades and in the end his effort is not in vain—his hand manages to touch his mother's foot, but his consciousness slowly disappears, his vision begins to darken. "Mo.. ther".

But he does not want to appear weak again in his mother's eyes. "Mother... am I great ..!?" he says softly.

His mother's body appears standing firmly, yet does not respond, answer, or even turn toward him at all, her gaze is empty like a body without anything inside.

"Mother... do you not care about me," he says in despair.

His eyes begin to wither, his body begins to turn bluish, his hand that was gripping tightly begins to weaken and gradually releases from his mother's foot.

What he is doing- is it a glimmer of hope… or merely a hallucination born from regret?"
