Chapter 10 - Unique Event (2)

...

Shadow of the Curse

Heavy rain lashed against the roof of the Zewilste Palace, shattering the suffocating silence. Inside the grand hall, which now felt icy cold, a thick tension hung in the air. The atmosphere was heavy, as if the very walls of the palace were trembling with the fear that had gripped the royal family.

...

Inside a room - Kingdom of Roses

Queen Eivana leaned weakly against a luxurious sofa, her face pale as death. Her hands clutched tightly at her swollen belly, cold sweat beading on her forehead. Beside her, Prince Andrew sat with a pained expression; his left arm was suspended in a sling, swollen and bruised clearly visible even through the bandages. Princess Seraphina sat silently in the corner, her eyes empty as she stared at the floor. Her long hair, once the signature blazing red of the Roses family, had turned stark white like snow, creating a terrifying contrast against her skin.

King Erico paced back and forth with frantic steps. His eyes were bloodshot, dark circles prominent beneath his lids—a result of sleepless nights and nightmares that continued to haunt him.

King Erico (stopping, looking at his wife with anxious eyes):

"Eivana... my love, how do you feel now? The royal physician said it is unnatural... the amniotic fluid is red... it looks like blood, not the water of life."

Queen Eivana (speaking softly, her voice trembling):

"It hurts, Erico... my belly feels like it is burning from the inside. As if there is something inside that does not wish to be born into this world, or something that is angry at being forced out. I am afraid... I am afraid for our child."

Andrew (grunting in pain as he tries to move his arm):

"Everything happened so fast, Father. When I fell from the cliff this morning, I felt invisible hands pushing me. It wasn't an accident... it felt like someone wanted me hurt."

Seraphina slowly lifted her face. Her voice sounded flat, devoid of any emotion.

Seraphina:

"Look at me, Father... Mother. This red color... our pride, gone just like that. My hair turned white in the blink of an eye while I was praying. As if... as if our strength is being sucked away, replaced by despair."

King Erico held his head, closing his eyes tightly as the shadows of his nightmares resurfaced in his mind.

King Erico:

"And those dreams... every night I see it. This palace destroyed, fires burning everywhere, and I see all of you... wounded. I see a dark future, an inevitable destruction. It feels real, so terrifyingly real!"

Suddenly, the door burst open violently. A guard ran in, panting heavily, his face as pale as a corpse.

Guard:

"Your Majesty! Forgive the intrusion, but this is regarding Prince Xevac!"

The entire room fell silent instantly.

King Erico (stepping forward, his voice booming with suppressed panic):

"Xevac?! Where is he?! He should have returned from the Tower of Kingdom long ago!"

Guard:

"We have searched the entire Tower, Your Majesty. Every room, every corridor... Prince Xevac... is gone. There are no traces, no messages. It is as if he vanished into thin air."

Queen Eivana let out a small scream and clutched her stomach again, her face twisting in agony.

Queen Eivana:

"Ahhh... no... not again... my stomach... it feels so hot!"

Andrew struggled to stand despite the pain, while Seraphina covered her mouth with her hand, her eyes widening as she watched her hair turning even whiter under the lamplight. King Erico looked out the window, illuminated by flashes of lightning, realizing one horrifying truth.

King Erico (whispering softly but filled with despair):

"Zeco... this is your doing, isn't it? You gave us hope, but it was only the beginning of your torture..."

A bolt of lightning struck, illuminating the terrified faces. Tonight, in the Kingdom of Roses, no one felt safe anymore.

The atmosphere in King Erico's study was far quieter than the main hall had been, yet the tension in the air felt even thicker. The rain outside still poured heavily, hammering against the glass windows as if trying to shatter its way inside.

King Erico stood frozen in the middle of the room. His own words about Zeco echoed in his mind, piercing his heart like thorns. "Is it really him? Or is it just my fear speaking?" he wondered. The pain he felt came not only from anger but from doubt. He felt guilty for making accusations, yet every clue seemed to point in the same direction. Still, he knew... this was all just speculation. There was no concrete proof yet.

Taking a deep breath, Erico tried to calm himself. He rearranged the stacks of papers on his desk, tidying the mess, as if order could help control the chaos unfolding in his life right now. His eyes then fell upon a corner of the iron cabinet—a medium-sized old wooden box with faded carvings.

Erico walked closer, his fingers trembling as he touched the surface. He unlocked it slowly. Creak...

Inside lay a thick book with a cover made of rough, cold leather. There was no title, only a strange symbol radiating a dark aura. Erico reached out, his fingers almost touching the leather...

"Do not touch that, Your Majesty."

A heavy, cold voice came from the slightly ajar door. Erico flinched in shock and immediately pulled his hand back.

There, leaning casually yet vigilantly against the wall in the shadows, stood Karrens Bluehost. Thewomen crossed his arms over his chest, his gaze sharp and serious, as if he had been watching the King's every move for some time.

King Erico (tense, then turning with a mix of surprise and firmness):

"Karrens... How long have you been there? You startled me."

Karrens Bluehost (not moving, his voice flat but emphatic):

"Long enough to see Your Majesty about to make a fatal mistake. What are you thinking, King Erico? That book is not a toy, nor is it a tool merely to satisfy curiosity."

King Erico (looking back at the book inside the box, his voice heavy):

"I have to know, Karrens. My heart hurts... it hurts because I am accusing someone without proof. I suspect Zeco, but is this truly his doing? Or is there another force playing behind the scenes? I need answers. I need facts, not just assumptions that are destroying my sanity."

Karrens Bluehost (stepping forward, his shadow stretching long across the floor):

"The desire to know is natural, but this book will not give you the truth easily. For every page you open, every word you read... there is a price, Your Majesty. The price is your sanity, or perhaps even your life itself."

King Erico:

"I don't care about the risks! Look at my family, Karrens! My wife is in agony, my children are wounded and changing, and another is missing! If there is even the slightest chance this book can tell me who is truly responsible, I have to take it!"

Erico reached out again decisively. However, in the blink of an eye, Karrens was beside him, his strong hand gripping the King's wrist firmly but without hurting him.

Karrens Bluehost (staring directly into Erico's eyes, his voice rising slightly):

"Listen to me carefully! This Chronos Void Grimoire does not just contain history, but also ancient spells and curses. If you read it now, with your heart restless and your mind clouded by prejudice... the book will manipulate you. It will show you what you want to see, not what is actually happening. You will only become more confused, and that is exactly what our enemy wants!"

Erico fell silent. Karrens slowly released his grip. The King lowered his head, breathing heavily.

King Erico (whispering softly):

"So... I must just do nothing? Let all this continue without knowing anything?"

Karrens Bluehost (leaning back against the wall, remaining vigilant):

"Not nothing. But be patient. Do not let your emotions and suspicions consume you, King Erico. If Zeco is truly guilty, the evidence will reveal itself. But if you force the truth through this dark path... you might end up being the one to destroy the Kingdom of Roses with your own hands."

Karrens stepped back slowly, retreating into the shadows.

Karrens Bluehost:

"Close the box, lock it again. Channel that pain and suspicion as fuel to seek justice, not as a means to destroy yourself."

King Erico looked at the book one last time, his immense curiosity battling against cold logic. Finally, with a heavy heart, he slowly closed the lid of the wooden box.

Traces of the First Traveler

The sound of rain outside grew even louder, as if echoing the heavy conversation inside the room. King Erico slowly locked the mysterious box again, patting its surface gently as a sign that he had heeded the advice. However, his eyes remained fixed on Karrens Bluehost, who stood tall before him.

Erico stepped forward. His face, previously filled with anger, now softened into a look of sincere pleading.

King Erico:

"I will do as you say, Karrens. I will not touch that book again. But... in return, I want you to give me something. Not gold, not power... I only want the truth."

Karrens Bluehost (staring intently, his eyebrow slightly raised):

"What truth do you mean, Your Majesty?"

King Erico:

"About the past. About my grandfather, King Alderic Roses. In ancient records, he once wrote that... 'All this greatness, and also these troubles, began with a fateful meeting with a unique traveler.' I do not know who that person was. Who did he mean? Who is the traveler that brought such great change to our family?"

Silence fell for a moment. Karrens Bluehost turned his face away, looking out the window where water streamed down violently. His fingers clenched tightly into fists, a sign of inner conflict. Doubt was clearly visible in his cold eyes.

Karrens Bluehost (speaking slowly and heavily):

"That is very ancient history, Your Majesty. A secret deliberately kept sealed tight so it would not stir up new storms. Digging too deep will only bring up filth that has long been buried."

King Erico (stepping closer, his voice pleading):

"Please, Karrens. I am not just a King who must rule anymore; I am a father whose family is being punished for something that might have happened decades ago. If I know the root cause, I can fix it. I beg you..."

Hearing that sincere plea, Karrens let out a long sigh. His tense shoulders relaxed slightly. He finally turned back, his gaze now deeper, as if peering through the mists of time long past.

Karrens Bluehost:

"Very well... I will tell you a little of what I know. Only a little, because even I do not know everything."

Karrens walked toward the dead fireplace, his voice beginning to sound like he was reciting an ancient legend.

Karrens Bluehost:

"The person you seek... is named Rovela Silvio. He was not a nobleman, not a great mage, nor a mighty warrior. He was simply a wanderer, an adventurer who traveled from one end of the world to the other, solely to unite 'something' that no other clan had ever done before."

King Erico (eyes wide open, memorizing the name in his heart):

"Rovela Silvio... So he is the one Grandfather mentioned in the Old Files?"

Karrens Bluehost:

"Most likely. From what I heard, they met when King Alderic was still young, leading the small Kingdom of Roses and often wandering outside the palace. Rovela was the type of person... unique. He possessed a smile that could make anyone trust him, yet hidden behind it was knowledge far beyond his time. It is said that he was the one who first introduced ancient technology and magic to the Kingdom of Roses, allowing this nation to rise and become as strong as it is today."

Erico fell silent, imagining the figure being described.

King Erico:

"So he was a hero? A good man who helped our family?"

Karrens Bluehost (suddenly turned with a serious expression, making Erico flinch):

"Do not jump to conclusions, Your Majesty. Rovela Silvio did give power, but also a heavy 'responsibility'. There was an agreement made between them. A pact that perhaps still remains a mystery, passed down through generations of the Roses family."

Karrens stepped closer, whispering right beside the King's ear.

Karrens Bluehost:

"They say Rovela didn't seek wealth or thrones. But he wanted everything united, without distinction of race, faction, or anything else!"

King Erico (trembling):

"Where is he now? Is he still alive? I must meet him!"

Karrens Bluehost (shook his head slowly):

"That is what I cannot answer for sure. Rovela Silvio is a man who comes and goes like the wind. Some records say he died hundreds of years ago, but others swear he is still alive, his face never aging. His existence... is the greatest mystery."

Karrens leaned back against the wall, bringing the conversation to a close.

Karrens Bluehost:

"That is all you are allowed to know for today, Your Majesty. Rovela Silvio, the Unique Traveler. The root of everything."

King Erico stood frozen. The name Rovela Silvio echoed repeatedly in his mind. If Zeco was the problem of the present, then Rovela was the key to the past.

A few moments later.....

The door burst open, and Queen Eivana rushed in, her face flushed with pain, her hands clutching her swollen belly tightly. Her breathing was ragged, and sweat poured down her face despite the cold air in the room.

Queen Eivana (voice strained):

"Erico... Karrens... Quick! It feels... it feels like the baby is coming now! I can't hold it back anymore!"

King Erico immediately ran to his wife, supporting Eivana's weakening body.

King Erico (panicked but trying to stay calm):

"Eivana! My love, stay calm! We don't have time to move to the delivery room or call the midwives!"

Karrens Bluehost (eyes sharp and alert, acting immediately):

"No time! If we leave this room, the negative energy outside will attack! Your Majesty, help the Queen to that sofa!"

Without another word, Karrens raised both hands. His eyes glowed with a brilliant blue light.

Karrens Bluehost:

"Barrier: Sanctuary of Silence!"

A low rumble echoed. A transparent layer of pale blue energy appeared, enveloping the entire study room, separating them from the outside world. The sound of rain and thunder vanished instantly, replaced by total, peaceful silence.

Karrens Bluehost:

"Inside this circle, there will be no excessive pain and no disturbances. This will be our temporary delivery room."

Karrens swiftly gathered clean cloths and simple supplies available in the room. He stood before the Queen, his expression serious yet calm.

Karrens Bluehost:

"Focus, Queen Eivana. When I give the signal, push with all your strength. King Erico, hold your wife's hand and give her strength!"

Several minutes felt like hours. The Queen's cries of effort and Karrens' short commands filled the barrier. Until finally...

WAAAAHHH!!! WAAAAHHH!!!

The loud, piercing cry of a baby shattered the silence. The voice was so strong it seemed to vibrate in the air.

Karrens carefully lifted the tiny body, wiping away the remaining blood and the reddish amniotic fluid. A faint smile appeared on his face as he saw the baby crying with such vitality.

Karrens Bluehost:

"It is done... A strong baby boy. He..."

Suddenly...

SRETT!!

Karrens' vision blurred. The faces of the King and Queen vanished. The study room disappeared completely. He was no longer holding a warm infant, but standing in a place of utter darkness, illuminated only by a single giant eye floating in the void.

[ZONE: SUBCONSCIOUS REALM - LORD OF EYE]

Karrens Bluehost (standing tall, vigilant):

"So this is how you greet me... Lord Of Eye? You dare infiltrate through the soul of a newborn baby?"

A voice echoed from all directions, flat and emotionless, yet pressing heavily upon the mind of anyone who heard it.

Lord Of Eye:

"You... Guardian of the Roses family... You are interrupting this beautiful process. This child... is a perfect vessel. His soul is pure, easy to inhabit."

Karrens smirked, not out of fear, but out of challenge. He puffed out his chest, and a cold blue aura began to radiate from his body, pushing back the surrounding darkness.

Karrens Bluehost:

"You are gravely mistaken if you think I will let you take over a baby's soul as you please. My subconscious realm... is far harder to crack than you imagine!"

Karrens Bluehost:

"SOUL HAND! FORTH!"

Karrens stepped forward, his body dissolving into pure energy. He did not merely defend; he attacked back! He forced his own subconscious mind to clash directly against the domain of Lord Of Eye!

BOOOOM!!!

A massive collision occurred in the invisible dimension. The black sky cracked, one side filled with Karrens' icy blue light, the other swarming with the enemy's terrifying eyes.

Lord Of Eye:

"How dare you pierce through my defenses?! A lowly soldier like you does not deserve to set foot in my domain!"

Karrens Bluehost (shouting with authority):

"I AM PROTECTOR! As long as I breathe, you will never touch a single member of the Roses family! Receive the full power of Bluehost!!"

"SOUL BURST!!"

Karrens swung his hand, and waves of blue energy froze every eye that dared to approach. The battle in the subconscious realm raged on, while in the real world, Karrens stood perfectly still holding the baby, his eyes closed tightly, his body trembling slightly as he endured the fierce war happening within his own soul.

The battle within the subconscious realm produced no grand explosions or spurts of blood. No physical wounds were visible, yet the collision of mental energy was so devastating that the dimensional space around them trembled and began to fade, growing faint like mist about to be blown away by the wind.

Karrens Bluehost and Lord Of Eye stood facing each other, their breaths heavy despite having no physical forms in this realm. Karrens' icy blue aura fought desperately against the shapeless darkness.

Suddenly, Lord Of Eye ceased his attack. The shadowy figure instead lifted the corners of his lips, revealing a wide, terrifying smile filled with hidden meaning.

Lord Of Eye:

"You fight well, Guardian... Indeed very well. But you forget one thing... Emotion is a soldier's greatest weakness."

From his dark palm, he tossed a small object floating before Karrens.

The object spun slowly in the air. It was a pale blue pendant, carved with the head of a wolf standing tall beneath the moon—the unmistakable emblem of the Bluehost Family.

Karrens' eyes widened in shock. His face turned deathly pale.

Karrens Bluehost (voice trembling, caught off guard):

"That... this pendant... it belongs to my family! How did you get this?! Where are they?!"

Shock, confusion, and worry seized his heart instantly. It was a fatal mistake.

CLANG!!!

An invisible dark strike pierced directly into the core of his soul. Karrens cried out in agony, his body thrown backward until it slammed against the dimensional wall. He fell to his knees, clutching his chest as if it were shattering into pieces.

Karrens Bluehost:

"Aghhh...!! My soul... it feels... broken..."

Although the wound was invisible to the physical world, the pain was real and crippling. His power plummeted drastically.

It was at that moment that the void created by their fierce clash was suddenly filled.

WUUUUNG!!!

A brilliant, pure white and warm light radiated from the center of the space. The light was so holy and powerful that it swept away the remnants of clashing dark and blue energy. This was the Subconscious of the newborn baby. Still pure, still innocent, yet possessing an innate strength capable of neutralizing anything.

Karrens lay weak, his eyes heavy to open, while Lord Of Eye was forced to retreat, repelled by this pure light. However, before vanishing completely, he performed one final act.

Lord Of Eye:

"Hah... The pure light of life... Perfect for storage."

His dark hand moved swiftly, etching a glowing black symbol directly onto the baby's unseen aura.

Lord Of Eye:

"With this, I place the Seal of Restriction! Your magical power shall sleep, and memories of a dark past shall be locked away tight! You will grow as a normal child... until the time I decree arrives!"

The symbol glowed momentarily before disappearing, merging deep into the baby's very being.

Lord Of Eye looked down at Karrens, helpless on the dimensional floor, his face twisted in mockery.

Lord Of Eye:

"Look at you, Karrens Bluehost... You have failed. You call yourself a protector, yet you couldn't even shield an infant's soul from a seal. You are weak because you still possess a heart."

He drew closer, whispering directly into the ear of the nearly unconscious guardian.

Lord Of Eye:

"This child will live... but he will never know who he truly is, nor what power he holds. And you... you will live with that guilt until the day you die. Farewell, Failed Guardian."

The figure of Lord Of Eye dissipated like smoke, leaving Karrens alone in the darkness that slowly transformed back into the royal office.

REAL WORLD

THUD!

Karrens Bluehost's body collapsed onto the floor. He still held the baby tightly to prevent it from falling, but his head lolled limply. His face was deathly pale, and cold sweat drenched his entire body as if he had just run a marathon without rest.

Seeing this, King Erico and Queen Eivana panicked immediately.

King Erico:

"Karrens! What happened?! You look so pale!"

Karrens could only gasp for breath, his eyes fixed on the infant in his arms with a gaze filled with sorrow, anger, and powerlessness. He knew that something had been planted inside the child—something that would prevent him from ever truly becoming himself.

Karrens realized that the baby now bore a seal, restraining both his power and his memories.

In the western wing of the palace was now calmer, yet still guarded with utmost vigilance. Karrens Bluehost's private room was filled with royal physicians and healers busily attending to him. His face was still pale, his breathing steady but weak; the wounds to his soul had taken a severe toll on his physical body.

Outside the door, rows of Elite Knights stood rigid with drawn swords, forming an impenetrable wall of defense. No one was allowed to disturb the guardian's rest, and no danger was permitted to draw near.

Meanwhile, in the warm and cozy room next door, King Erico and Queen Eivana sat together. The exhaustion from childbirth was still visible on Eivana's face, but her eyes shone with pure happiness as she gazed at the tiny baby wrapped in a silk blanket.

Erico gently turned over the baby's small palm. There, clearly imprinted, was a golden birthmark forming the intricate pattern of Red Rose petals.

King Erico (whispering in awe):

"Look at this, Eivana... The Mark of the Red Rose... The symbol of our pure bloodline."

Queen Eivana (touching the mark softly, her eyes glistening):

"It is so beautiful... But I remember the stories, this symbol was supposed to have gone extinct and vanished from our lineage since the time of our great-grandfather. Yet he possesses it..."

King Erico (sighing deeply, looking at his son's face):

"Legend says that those who bear this mark possess great ambition and captivating power. However, often that ambition turns into destructive greed. I pray... I hope this child does not follow that dark path."

Erico kissed the baby's forehead lovingly.

King Erico:

"Become a wise King, my child. Not a ruler who frightens his people with power, but a King who protects with wisdom. Do not let this mark make you arrogant, but let it be the reason to become better than us."

Eivana smiled weakly, then looked up at her husband.

Queen Eivana:

"It is time to give him a name, Erico... What name will you bestow upon our heir?"

Hearing the question, Erico stood slowly. He held the baby carefully and walked toward the large, open window. The cool night wind drifted in, carrying the scent of the palace gardens.

Outside, the sky was clear, and the full moon shone brilliantly.

Erico lifted the small body slightly upward, as if presenting him to heaven and earth. Then, in a voice that was low, soft, yet full of authority, he began to hum an ancient song. A melody he used to hear when his brother, King Theodore III, still ruled.

🎵 "Hmmm.... Oh little man, you shall become King...

King of all people, uniting those at war...

You are the hope... for humanity far and wide..." 🎵

The song echoed gently in the room, filled with meaning and hope. The moonlight seemed to answer the call, descending to shine directly upon the baby in Erico's arms, making the infant's skin glow with a golden radiance.

King Erico (stopping his song, then speaking loudly and firmly):

"With the power inherited from our ancestors, and with the pure love of his parents... I name thee..."

"EDINOWL ROSES!"

"Edinowl Roses..." he repeated, as if savoring every letter of the name.

King Erico:

"Live in peace, grow in courage, and shine bright like an owl in the night... Edinowl."

Behind him, Queen Eivana watched the scene with her heart overflowing. Tears of happiness welled in her eyes, and a wide smile spread across her face as she saw her husband and child bathed in the lunar glow.

Queen Eivana (whispering softly):

"Edinowl... A beautiful and noble name. Welcome to the world, my son..."

Little Prince Edinowl Roses had officially been born into the world, carrying an ancient mark and great hopes. But remember... deep within him lies a seal, restraining his true power and memories.

[6 YEARS LATER]

The sun shone brightly over the Kingdom of Roses, yet the atmosphere inside the palace felt different. There were no grand celebrations, no lavish feasts. Life went on, but it was shrouded in extreme caution and deep sorrow.

IN EDINOWL'S CHAMBERS

In a spacious room that felt more like a golden cage, a six-year-old boy sat on a luxurious carpet. It was Prince Edinowl Roses. He was handsome, bearing the strong features of the Roses family, yet his eyes often stared blankly toward the high, barred windows.

He was never allowed to leave the palace grounds. Even walking in the gardens required heavy security.

Seraphina Roses sat beside him. Her hair, once blazing red, remained pure white like snow, giving her an elegant yet mysterious appearance. She was gently combing her little brother's hair.

Seraphina:

"There we go, Edi... Your hair is neat now. Tomorrow, big sister will teach you how to read ancient maps again, okay?"

Edinowl Roses (looking down, playing with a wooden sword):

"Sister Sera... When can I go outside? I want to see the villages, see the river like in the storybooks. Why does Father always say no?"

Suddenly, footsteps approached. Andrew Roses entered the room. His left arm, once broken, had healed, though it sometimes felt stiff when the weather changed. His face, once cheerful, had grown mature and serious, burdened with responsibility.

Andrew:

"Don't ask that, Edinowl. The outside world is dangerous. You are safe here with us. Brother and Sister Sera will always be here to play and protect you."

Edinowl looked up, gazing at his two loving older siblings.

Edinowl:

"But... I'm bored staying here all the time. I want to know what it feels like to run fast on green grass."

Seraphina (smiling sadly, patting his head):

"Someday... when the time comes. For now, be a good boy and study here. We won't let anyone hurt you."

They both knew there was something different about their youngest brother. There was an unspoken fear in their Father's heart, as if the outside world was ready to devour Edinowl at any moment.

IN THE PALACE DUNGEON

Deep underground, in a dark and damp cell that was nonetheless livable, a young man sat staring blankly at the stone walls. It was Xevac Roses.

He was found three years ago amidst the chaos of the "Exarion War," a great conflict far beyond their borders. His body survived, but a part of his soul seemed lost. Only King Erico knew his son had returned. Even Queen Eivana, before her passing, knew of it, but they decided to hide his existence from the world for his own safety.

The cell door creaked open slowly. Light from the corridor flooded in, blinding the eyes. King Erico Roses entered carrying a tray of food. The King looked older now, wrinkles clearly etched on his face, the weight upon his shoulders heavier than ever.

King Erico (placing the food down, his voice low and heavy):

"Eat, Xevac. Your body needs strength."

Xevac did not move. He did not look at his father.

Xevac Roses:

"How much longer... Father? It has been a year I've been here. Like a prisoner. Yet I came home safely."

King Erico (massaging his temples, breathing heavily):

"You know the reason, Xevac. When you were found on that battlefield... something had changed within you. The energy you carry is unstable. If outsiders knew you are here, or if the enemies discovered your whereabouts... danger would be everywhere."

Xevac (chuckling softly, yet the sound was heartbreaking):

"So I am better off locked away than considered a lost son? Not even Andrew and Sera know I am here..."

King Erico fell silent. A father's heart broke seeing his child like this.

King Erico:

"Forgive Father... Forgive me, son. This is for your safety. And for the safety of Edinowl as well."

IN THE KING'S CHAMBERS

Memories shifted briefly to one year ago, when Queen Eivana was still alive but gravely ill, just before the ceremony naming Edinowl as the 3rd Prince.

[FLASHBACK - 1 YEAR AGO]

Queen Eivana lay weak in bed. Her face was pale, her breathing ragged. Edinowl's inauguration was only days away, but the Queen's body could no longer hold on.

King Erico held her hand tightly, tears finally flowing freely.

Queen Eivana (voice very soft, almost inaudible):

"Erico... my love... Don't cry..."

King Erico:

"Don't speak like that! You have to be strong! We will see Edinowl being named Prince! You have to watch our children grow up!"

Queen Eivana (smiling faintly, tears streaming down):

"I am so tired... I just want to rest. Protect them... Protect all our children. Xevac... Andrew... Sera... and Edinowl..."

Her gaze turned distant, as if seeing into the future.

Queen Eivana:

"Edinowl... he is a remarkable child. I believe in him... But please... do not let the weight of the world crush his pure heart, like what happened to us..."

Queen Eivana's hand slowly went limp and fell to the side. Her eyes became empty. Her breathing stopped.

King Erico:

"No Eivana!! NO EIVANAAAA!!!"

[BACK TO THE PRESENT]

King Erico stood alone on his balcony, gazing at the reddish-orange evening sky. This palace was large, filled with people, yet it felt so empty and quiet without the Queen.

He had lost his wife just before his son's happy moment. He had one child imprisoned, one wounded physically and mentally, one whose appearance had changed drastically, and one whom he had to cage within strict security for his own protection.

King Erico (whispering to the wind):

"What else must I sacrifice, O God? What sin has the Roses family committed to bear all this suffering..."

The situation of the Roses family was now truly dire. The Queen was gone, Xevac was confined, Edinowl was trapped in luxury, and Andrew and Seraphina struggled to stay strong.

Bright sunlight filtered through the gaps in the thick curtains, illuminating the spacious yet silent study room. At an intricately carved wooden desk, Edinowl Roses sat with his back straight, though his eyes occasionally drifted to watch birds flying freely outside the window.

Opposite him sat Master Elvar, an elderly man wearing glasses and a neat robe. He was a royal linguist and historian, specially appointed to tutor the young Prince.

Master Elvar:

"Very well, Your Highness Edinowl. Today we will learn the Ancient Language of Roses. The word for 'Peace' in our ancestral tongue is pronounced... 'Vaelthyr'. Try to say it."

Edinowl (repeating loudly and innocently):

"Vael... thyr... Peace."

Edinowl put down his pen and rested his chin on his small hands. His eyes were filled with immense curiosity.

Edinowl:

"Master Elvar... Is it true what Father says, that the world is huge? Much bigger than this palace garden?"

Master Elvar flinched slightly, his hand pausing mid-page turn. He knew this question would come sooner or later. Looking slightly awkward, he glanced at the door as if making sure no one else was listening.

Master Elvar (clearing his throat, ahem ahem):

"Erm... Of course, Prince. The world is vast. Far, far bigger than just these palace walls."

Edinowl (eyes sparkling):

"Then... what is it like out there? Is it scary? Are there monsters like in the storybooks? Or... do people there fight all the time?"

This question left Master Elvar silent. He remembered King Erico's instructions: "Do not speak of bad things, do not speak of war, do not make him afraid or overly curious."

Master Elvar smiled faintly, trying to sound reassuring.

Master Elvar:

"There are no monsters, Your Highness. And no great battles. The world outside is... beautiful. Truly beautiful."

He began to speak, choosing the sweetest and safest words possible.

Master Elvar:

"Out there, there are green meadows stretching all the way to the horizon. Children like you can run fast, play tag, or fly kites without worrying about anything. The rivers are crystal clear, and the villages look so neat and peaceful."

Edinowl:

"Really? What about the other kingdoms? Are they good friends with us?"

Master Elvar:

"Of course. Everyone lives together safely. There is no smoke of war, no cries of pain. Only laughter, music, and bustling trade. All kingdoms are now enjoying the era of Vaelthyr... The era of eternal peace."

The teacher lied slightly, or rather... he only told the good parts. He hid the facts about political tensions, the past Exarion War, and the lurking dangers. In his eyes, a six-year-old was not ready to know the cruelty of the world.

Edinowl (smiling widely, imagining it all):

"Wow... That sounds so fun! So everyone out there is happy, right, Master?"

Master Elvar (nodding slowly, feeling relieved yet guilty):

"That is right, Prince. Everything is fine out there. This world is a peaceful place to live."

Edinowl looked back out the window, this time with a smile on his face. He grew even more curious, hoping that one day he could see with his own eyes the beauty his teacher described.

...

[THE NEXT DAY - IN THE MAIN THRONE HALL]

The atmosphere in the Main Hall that morning was formal yet warm. King Erico Roses stood tall upon the throne. His face looked firm and healthy, though his eyes held a depth of sadness invisible to ordinary people.

Standing before him, respectful yet dignified, were Princess Seraphina and Prince Andrew.

King Erico (looking at his children with a sharp yet loving gaze):

"You requested an audience early this morning. What important matter brings you before me like this?"

Andrew stepped forward and bowed respectfully.

Andrew Roses:

"Father... We ask for permission to take a short journey to the Kingdom of Throne, specifically across Disidess Region... the Glovass Region."

King Erico furrowed his brow slightly. He leaned back against the throne, interlacing his fingers in front of his chin.

King Erico:

"Glovass? That is quite a distant and dangerous area to visit carelessly. What is your reason? Is it official royal business, or do you simply wish to wander for pleasure?"

Seraphina lowered her head slightly, while Andrew answered firmly, concisely, and clearly.

Andrew:

"Not for pleasure, Father. Over the past few months, we have been investigating old traces. We found new clues... that in that area, someone has been seen who bears a striking resemblance to... Xevac."

The name hung in the air. King Erico flinched almost imperceptibly, his eyebrows rising high and his expression turning serious upon hearing the name of his son who was once lost.

King Erico (whispering softly but clearly):

"Xevac... You have found traces of him?"

Andrew:

"We cannot be 100% sure, but this is our best chance, Father. We want to confirm the truth."

King Erico fell silent for a long time. He stared into the distance, battling with his own thoughts. He knew Xevac was safe beneath the palace, but he could not tell them that. Yet, letting them search was also a good thing.

Finally, King Erico let out a long sigh and nodded slowly.

King Erico:

"Very well... Father grants you permission. You may go to Glovass."

Andrew and Seraphina's faces immediately lit up with relief. However, King Erico's gaze turned cold and serious once more.

King Erico:

"But there is one absolute condition you must follow. Never—listen closely—never speak of your mother, Queen Eivana, while you are there. Do not reveal her true condition."

Seraphina (eyes glistening slightly):

"Then... if someone asks how Mother is doing?"

King Erico (voice heavy and firm):

"Just say... 'Mother is well, she is resting.' Or... better yet, stay silent and change the subject. I do not want this sad news to spread and be used against us as a weakness by our enemies. Understood?"

Andrew & Seraphina:

"Understood, Father."

IN THE CORNER OF THE HALL

Peeking shyly from behind a large pillar was a small head. It was Edinowl Roses. He had just woken up looking for his father and siblings, but instead overheard that serious conversation.

His eyes sparkled with questions. He tried to process the words he had just heard.

'Xevac... Xevac...'

Edinowl (thinking to himself):

"Who is Xevac? A third brother? Why is his name never mentioned at home? Why did Father look so shocked? And why are they talking about Mother...?"

Curiosity took over his young heart. He hated having things hidden from him. If his older siblings were going to find answers, then he wanted to go too! He wanted to know who Xevac was, and he wanted to see the outside world that Master Elvar had described yesterday!

Quickly and quietly as a shadow, Edinowl stepped back and then ran lightly toward his room.

IN EDINOWL'S CHAMBERS

Upon arriving, Edinowl immediately opened his small wardrobe. He took out a tiny backpack he usually used for playing.

Skillfully, he packed some dried bread, a water bottle, a small map he had stolen from his study desk, and his beloved wooden toy sword.

Edinowl (muttering to himself as he tied the straps):

"I have to go... I have to follow Brother Andrew and Sister Sera. I want to know who Xevac is... and I want to see that peaceful world for myself!"

He put on his little cap, then slipped out through the back door of his room that connected to the servants' corridor. The plan for a secret escape had begun!

No sooner had Edinowl's small feet stepped out of the shaded back entrance of the palace than he felt his shadow suddenly covered by two enormous figures.

He froze in his tracks. Slowly, he looked up... and up... and up.

Standing before him were two people radiating immense power. To the left stood a woman with a slender yet strong build, her hair tied neatly, her face beautiful yet firm—Commander Eleonor Silvio. Beside her stood another woman with an aura that was cold yet calming, her posture straight and gaze sharp—Commander Karrens Bluehost, who had fully recovered and was now a vital part of the Roses Kingdom.

They had just finished their patrol and were heading to make their report, only to stumble upon an unexpected sight.

Edinowl (eyes wide open, his backpack feeling heavy, mouth slightly agape):

"Eh... C-Commanders..."

Eleonor lowered her gaze, looking at the small backpack dangling from the boy's back, then at Edinowl's panicked face. She turned to look at Karrens, and Karrens looked back at her.

Without a word, as if connected by telepathy, the two commanders suddenly chuckled. Warm, clear laughter that broke the tension.

Commander Eleonor Silvio (smiling broadly, her voice soft yet authoritative):

"Well now... Look at this, Karrens. It seems we have found a little traveler preparing to conquer the world, haven't we?"

Commander Karrens Bluehost (smiling slightly, bending down on one knee to be eye-level with Edinowl):

"Indeed, Lady Eleonor. Look at his supplies... dried bread, water bottle, even a map. Quite a thorough plan for a six-year-old."

Karrens then looked straight into Edinowl's eyes with a questioning but friendly gaze.

Karrens Bluehost:

"Now, little Prince Edinowl... May we ask where you are headed looking so ready? Are you off to find treasure, or just for a morning stroll?"

Edinowl bit his lower lip, feeling caught red-handed. He hugged his backpack tightly.

Edinowl:

"I... I want to go with Brother Andrew and Sister Sera! I want to see the outside world! I want to find out about... about Xevac!"

Hearing this honest answer, Eleonor shook her head with a smile. She bent down and effortlessly lifted Edinowl's tiny body onto her shoulder.

Eleonor Silvio:

"Oh dear, what a shame, little one. Long journeys are dusty and tiring. We should report to your father first, don't you think?" she said as she hoisted Edinowl Roses onto her shoulder.

"Hey... put me down...!" Edinowl whined, but his small hands were no match for the Commanders' strength.

Karrens walked beside them, occasionally pinching Edinowl's chubby cheek.

Karrens Bluehost:

"Hahaha... Don't struggle just yet, Your Highness. King Erico just arrived at his office. I'm sure he will be delighted to see how 'diligent' his son is, preparing so early in the morning."

IN KING ERICO'S STUDY

The office door swung wide open. King Erico had just placed his royal history book on the desk, still catching his breath after walking from the main hall.

Suddenly...

"DAAAAAD!! HELPPP!!"

King Erico jumped in shock and turned immediately. He saw Eleonor and Karrens entering, carrying a squirming little 'package'.

King Erico (eyes wide, then letting out a long sigh):

"What is going on here? Why is Edinowl on your shoulder?"

Eleonor Silvio (smiling widely as she lowered Edinowl carefully):

"Report, Your Majesty. We found this little 'spy' trying to sneak out through the back gate. Look at his equipment, it's all complete as if he's going to war."

Eleonor took off the backpack and placed it on the King's desk. A soft thud was heard as the bread and water bottle hit the surface.

Karrens Bluehost (standing tall with arms crossed):

"Apparently... he wants to follow Prince Andrew and Princess Seraphina to Glovass. He wants to see the outside world and find answers."

King Erico looked at the bag, then at Edinowl's face, which was now bowed down in fear, his little feet shuffling nervously on the floor.

King Erico (walking closer, then kneeling down in front of his son):

"Edinowl... So you planned to run away secretly without telling Father?"

Edinowl (voice small and sulking):

"...Sorry, Father. But Edi is curious... Edi wants to go. Master Elvar said outside is peaceful and beautiful..."

King Erico was not angry. Instead, he gently stroked his son's hair and smiled faintly.

King Erico:

"You naughty but brave child... The world is indeed beautiful, but it is not yet time for you to go that far. You are still too small for such a long journey."

The King then stood up and looked at the two commanders.

King Erico:

"Thank you for catching him before he truly disappeared. Take him back to his room and ensure he cannot get out again until his siblings have departed."

Eleonor & Karrens:

"Yes, Your Majesty!"

The two of them escorted Edinowl away. The little boy looked up at Karrens and Eleonor with pleading eyes.

Edinowl:

"But... Commanders... won't you help me?"

Karrens Bluehost (whispering softly as they walked out):

"Sorry, Prince, for now the King's order is law. But don't worry... perhaps your journey will begin sooner than you think."

Edinowl's escape plan failed completely, caught by the two strongest people in the palace. But Karrens' last words held a double meaning...
