Chapter 1 - Take Ajo Bhulte Parini,Ch-4

Title: Take Ajo Bhulte Parini (Chapter 4)

The morning in Saradana village felt unusually quiet. The soft mist over the green fields carried a strange heaviness, as if the village itself knew something had changed forever. Rahul stood near the old banyan tree where everything had once begun. His eyes were tired, but they held a stubborn hope he couldn't let go of.

It had been three days since Piyali left without saying a proper goodbye.

No message. No explanation.

Only silence.

Rahul clenched his fists as memories flooded back—her laughter echoing in the narrow village lanes, the way she used to look at him when the sun set behind the river. Everything felt alive then. Now, everything felt empty.

"Why did you leave like this, Piyali?" he whispered to himself.

Just then, his friend Arjun approached him slowly. He had been watching Rahul for days, worried about how quiet he had become.

"Still waiting?" Arjun asked gently.

Rahul didn't reply immediately. His eyes remained fixed on the distant road.

"She said she would never leave," Rahul finally said, his voice breaking slightly. "Then why does it feel like she erased me completely?"

Arjun sighed. "Sometimes people leave not because they want to, but because they have no choice."

Rahul turned sharply. "What do you mean?"

Arjun hesitated, then said, "I heard something… but I don't know if it's true."

Rahul's heartbeat quickened. "Tell me."

"They say Piyali's family arranged her marriage suddenly. A rich family from the city. They took her away before anyone could question it."

Rahul felt like the ground beneath him had disappeared.

"No… she would have told me. She promised," he murmured.

But deep inside, doubt began to grow.

That evening, unable to bear the uncertainty, Rahul decided to visit Piyali's house. The small mud house that once felt warm and welcoming now looked lifeless. The door was half-closed, and the courtyard was empty.

He knocked softly.

After a few moments, Piyali's mother opened the door. Her eyes looked tired, as if she had cried a lot.

"Aunty… where is Piyali?" Rahul asked, trying to keep his voice steady.

She looked at him for a long moment, then said quietly, "She has gone far away, Rahul."

"Where?" his voice rose in desperation.

"She is married now," she said, lowering her gaze.

The words hit Rahul like a storm.

"No… that's not possible. She loves me," he said, almost pleading.

Tears welled up in her mother's eyes. "Love doesn't always win, son. Sometimes circumstances are stronger."

Rahul stepped back slowly, his world shattering piece by piece.

"But… did she say anything? About me?" he asked, his last hope trembling.

Her mother hesitated, then handed him a small folded letter.

"She left this for you," she said.

Rahul's hands shook as he took the letter. It felt heavier than anything he had ever held before.

He walked back to the banyan tree, the place that now held all his memories. Sitting down, he slowly opened the letter.

Inside, Piyali's familiar handwriting greeted him.

*"Rahul,

If you're reading this, it means I couldn't keep my promise. Please don't hate me. I had no choice. Baba was very ill, and this marriage was the only way to save our family. I tried to fight, I really did… but I lost.

You were never just a part of my life—you were my entire world. Every moment with you will stay in my heart forever.

I know you will feel betrayed, but believe me, I am more broken than you. If love means letting go, then maybe this is our fate.

Please live your life, Rahul. Don't stop dreaming because of me.

But remember one thing…

I will never forget you.

Take ajo bhulte parini."*

Rahul's vision blurred as tears rolled down his cheeks. The letter slipped from his hands onto the ground.

"So this is how it ends…" he whispered.

But somewhere deep inside, a strange determination began to rise.

"No," he said, wiping his tears. "This is not the end."

The night grew darker, but Rahul stood up, his eyes now filled with a new fire.

"If she had no choice… then I will create one," he said firmly.

For the first time in days, Rahul wasn't just broken—he was ready.

Ready to fight.

Ready to bring her back.

No matter what it takes.

The wind blew softly through the banyan leaves, as if carrying his promise across the distance—to wherever Piyali was.

And somewhere far away, in a city full of noise and lights, Piyali stood by a window, holding onto the same memories, her heart whispering the same words—

"Take ajo bhulte parini…"

Author Thought (Parikshit Halder):

True love never fades, even distance and destiny fail to erase deep memories forever.
