The Hospital Wing — Morning
Ruby Rose woke up to a headache and a ceiling she didn't immediately recognise.
She blinked at it for a moment, then looked down.
A mess of white hair was resting in her lap, its owner slumped forward in the chair beside her bed, deeply and completely asleep.
Ruby: (softly) Oh, Kaito. I must've worried you.
She reached down and patted his hair. He stirred slowly, the way he always woke — not all at once, but in stages, like he was returning from somewhere far away.
From the other side of the room:
Yang: He's so peaceful when he's sleeping.
Weiss: You know, it would be very easy to put a pillow over his face.
Yang: Come on, Weiss. You can't still be mad about the itching powder.
Weiss: He is so insufferable — claiming this and that, acting like
Kaito: (eyes still closed) That's just jealousy. You're just weak.
Weiss: I cannot believe we're missing the assembly about the Forever Fall casualties to sit in here
Kaito: Did anyone important die?
Weiss: well. One team didn't make it.
Kaito: Who?
The Assembly hall
The hall was full and very quiet.
Ozpin: As you know, the Grimm incursion in Forever Fall resulted in injuries across most of your year. The majority of your classmates came through, if not unscathed, then alive. (a pause) However it is a sad day for this academy. Team CRDNL did not survive.
