Chapter 6: Money Really Does Nurture a Person

Inside the apartment, the WeChat request had just been accepted.

Zhang Yang greeted her and casually opened her Moments to get a quick understanding of her. He knew that at this moment she was probably browsing through his Moments as well.

His Moments were actually quite unremarkable. There was no deliberately crafted online persona, and besides, there was nothing much to create anyway. As for this woman, however, her Moments were colorful and lively-everything from the company's afternoon tea to meals at restaurants. Every little detail was documented carefully.

It was clear that she was the type of girl who yearned for an exquisite lifestyle deep down.

She hadn't replied yet, and Zhang Yang wasn't in a hurry. He got up to take a shower first. When he came out of the bathroom wiping the water off his body, he picked up his phone to check.

Half a minute earlier, she had just replied with a simple "Hello."

Zhang Yang sat halfway on the bed and chatted with her casually.

After all, they were strangers who had never met. There was naturally no instant familiarity. The conversation remained lukewarm, and the intervals between her replies grew longer and longer.

"Let's meet sometime when there's a chance." Zhang Yang wasn't enthusiastic about building familiarity over WeChat.

Whether it would work or not would naturally be clear once they met.

Right before going to sleep, she finally replied, "Let's wait a bit. I've been quite busy lately."

Zhang Yang felt nothing about it and casually deleted the chat.

The bed was by the window. He lay there with his hands behind his head, looking at the night sky over the Shanghai, letting his thoughts wander until sleep slowly overtook him.

Morning came, and as always, he exercised without fail.

He had arranged to go to the nearby Porsche Center this morning to pick up his Cayenne.

Going from having no car at all to suddenly owning a luxury car worth over a million after taxes-and a highly recognizable Porsche at that-Zhang Yang naturally felt quite excited.

After all, this was a Porsche!

Even though luxury cars were everywhere in the Shanghai, driving out a Porsche Cayenne would still make people look at you differently.

While taking a taxi to the Porsche Center, Bei Wei sent Zhang Yang a message.

"Brother Zhang, I've arrived at the company. Let me know if anything comes up."

"Alright. By the way, don't order takeout at noon. I'll bring you something. What do you want to eat?" Zhang Yang replied.

"Anything is fine. I'm not picky." Bei Wei sent a playful emoji.

A little after nine in the morning, Zhang Yang arrived at the Porsche Center and reported his personal information.

"This way, Mr. Zhang." The salesgirl in black stockings at the Porsche Center spoke softly and skillfully led Zhang Yang to see the car on display.

Under the lights, the Porsche Cayenne was quietly waiting for him.

The black jade color scheme was eye-catching, and the family-style front design was highly recognizable.

The luxury car that he once could only admire from afar was now right in front of him, and it truly belonged to him. Zhang Yang felt an uncontrollable surge of emotion.

He wanted to act calm and indifferent, pretending nothing special was happening, but it was difficult.

He wasn't some naturally composed big shot, nor did he need to hide his emotions behind deep scheming. Happiness was happiness, and the excitement inside him simply couldn't be suppressed. Besides, why should he hold it in?

He opened the car door and sat inside, experiencing it with great curiosity.

The salesgirl beside him was very experienced and had seen all kinds of customers. Naturally, she wasn't surprised at all. She simply maintained a polite smile and waited patiently.

A moment later, Zhang Yang stepped out of the car with satisfaction.

The car payment and insurance had already been prepaid through the system. Now it was just routine paperwork, and the process went very quickly.

At Porsche, if you paid extra when picking up the car, there would be a special delivery ceremony, such as a waterfall of flowers. But that kind of thing was usually reserved for beautiful female customers. Zhang Yang didn't bother with that and kept everything simple.

"Mr. Zhang, congratulations on becoming a Porsche owner."

When everything was ready, the salesgirl in black stockings handed over a document bag containing all the paperwork, along with the car keys.

Zhang Yang took the keys. They were light, yet they felt heavy.

He got into the car, gently pressed the accelerator, and drove the brand-new Cayenne onto the streets of the Shanghai.

In the Shanghai, it was just another ordinary luxury car. But in Zhang Yang's heart, this car was unique.

Money could nurture a person, and confidence naturally gave someone a different aura. At this moment, earning ten thousand a day, driving a Porsche, and having limitless possibilities ahead of him, Zhang Yang suddenly seemed spirited and full of vigor.

There were still several thousand left from yesterday's ten thousand, and today's ten thousand had already arrived again. While driving, Zhang Yang glanced at the phone he had been using for quite a long time, turned the steering wheel, and headed straight to the nearest Apple Store.

IPHONE 14 PRO MAX 1TB

He went straight for the top configuration, priced at 13,499.

This way, the phone in his hand could finally retire. Holding a phone worth over ten thousand, with its solid weight and silky-smooth high-refresh-rate screen, truly felt different.

"Right, I promised to bring food for Bei Wei." Zhang Yang muttered to himself and walked straight into a Japanese restaurant.

Coincidentally, this place also offered takeaway service.

The exquisite bamboo packaging box was filled to the brim with sea urchin, tuna, eel, wagyu, and caviar. It looked extremely lavish.

Of course, the price wasn't cheap either-1,500 for one set.

A moment later, Zhang Yang carried the Japanese bento box toward his Porsche.

Around eleven o'clock, downstairs at the company.

Zhang Yang carried the Japanese bento he bought for Bei Wei and leisurely took the elevator upstairs.

The company was quiet.

From a distance, he saw Bei Wei sitting in front of the computer, staring at the screen in boredom. She hadn't put on much makeup today, but her black hair draped over her shoulders, giving her a fresh and simple look.

"Thanks for your hard work. Here's your lunch." Zhang Yang called out to Bei Wei from afar.

"Brother Zhang, you finally came. I'm starving." The moment Bei Wei saw Zhang Yang, she was overjoyed and ran over like a gust of wind. "By the way, what did you bring me?"

"Here, go eat." Zhang Yang casually placed the bento box on the table.

Bei Wei stopped in her tracks, her eyes widening slightly.

This neat and exquisite packaging clearly wasn't cheap, alright?

When she lifted the lid, it was packed with sea urchin, all kinds of sashimi, and wagyu beef with beautiful marbling…

"Brother Zhang, am I dreaming?"

Zhang Yang admired the way her small mouth hung open. "You said to bring anything, so I took the liberty of bringing Japanese food. Last time at the group dinner, you ate all the salmon, didn't you?"

"Ah? Brother Zhang, you still remember that… But last time it was cheap Japanese food. Something this expensive-I would never dare to eat it." Bei Wei was immersed in the happiness of Japanese food freedom. "I'm so happy I could cry."

"So exaggerated? Where are the tears?" Zhang Yang examined her carefully.

"There are tears, but they're flowing from the corner of my mouth." Bei Wei smiled shyly. "By the way, Brother Zhang, let's eat together?"

"I just ate. You can enjoy it yourself." Zhang Yang waved his hand.

Before coming here, he had already eaten a little. Besides, he was someone trying to lose fat, so eating like this wasn't appropriate. As for Bei Wei, she was naturally gifted-no matter how much she ate, she stayed this slender.

At noon, inside the quiet company, Bei Wei simply sat there enjoying her Japanese feast.

The sea urchin was sweet and fresh, the salmon tender and springy. The satisfaction was simply at its peak.

Zhang Yang returned to his workstation and handled some of the work at hand.

Duty shifts didn't require staying all day. Around four or five in the afternoon, he could leave. There wasn't much work anyway-one or two hours was enough to finish everything.

In the afternoon, he leaned comfortably against the ergonomic chair, watching the golden sunlight by the window while occasionally glancing at Bei Wei not far away.

She was lying on the desk as if dozing, her long black hair spread across the table.

"Brother Zhang, why do you keep looking at me?" As if sensing his gaze, Bei Wei raised her head and pursed her lips shyly.

"Because you're good-looking. Xiang Youde sits opposite me, and I never look at him." Zhang Yang made himself a cup of tea and added some goji berries, making it look very health-conscious.
