Chapter 52 Winter Solstice
Bai Tang, lost in thought about work, fell asleep on the sofa.
Fortunately, their house was well-heated, otherwise Bai Tang would definitely have been freezing.
Bai Tang dozed off for about an hour when someone knocked on the door.
Hearing the noise outside the door, Guantou walked to the sofa and licked Baitang awake.
Bai Tang was still confused when she hugged the can tightly: "What's wrong, can?"
The canned food was meowing as if to say: Someone is knocking on the door.
Bai Tang took a few seconds to come to her senses and heard someone knocking on the door.
It was obvious that Gu Yu had arrived.
So Bai Tang said as she went out, "Stop knocking, I heard you, I heard you."
Gu Yu said from outside the door, "It's so cold outside, let me come inside and warm up."
Bai Tang opened the door for her and let her in.
As Gu Yu walked into the house, she said, "Today is the Winter Solstice, and my dad brought back some dumplings from the base from his workplace at noon."
My dad asked me to bring you some. It's not much, but you can try it anyway.
As they entered the house, Gu Yu handed two pounds of vegetarian dumplings to Bai Tang. Bai Tang took the dumplings and asked Gu Yu to sit down first.
She put the dumplings that Gu Yu brought in the kitchen, figuring they wouldn't spoil since it was cold.
Then he went and poured Gu Yu a cup of hot water.
Bai Tang: "You can keep it for yourselves. We're not exactly well-off in terms of food these days."
Gu Yu: "You are the first true friend I made at this base. I will definitely think of you if I need anything."
After Gu Yu finished speaking, she put down her water glass and rushed towards the canned food.
After Gu Yu's previous mistreatment, the canned food is now completely unaffected.
It simply lay down and did nothing, letting Gu Yu touch it in various ways.
Bai Tang said to Gu Yu, "When you go back later, bring some of the tea that my family stocked up on for your dad."
There's nothing good to give in return.
Bai Tang wasn't without good things, but she couldn't find a reason to bring them out, so she could only return the favor with a box of tea, which wouldn't seem like she was taking advantage of Gu Yu.
Gu Yu said, "Oh, no need for that. I brought you dumplings, not to exchange them for anything."
Bai Tang: "Only through give and take can things get better in the future."
Then Bai Tang went to the bedroom and pretended to take out a box of pre-rain Longjing tea and hand it to Gu Yu.
"I don't have any good tea, this is all I have right now. I hope your dad won't mind."
Gu Yu said casually, "No, he can't drink any really good tea these days. This will keep him happy for a while."
After talking for a while, Gu Yu was about to leave.
Bai Tang saw Gu Yu off, and then one of Gu Yu's men came to pick her up and take her back.
Bai Tang returned to the house after she left.
She checked the time; it was already past five in the afternoon. She took out all the ingredients she had prepared for the festival.
In addition, there were the dumplings that Gu Yu had just brought.
After the dumplings were cooked, Bai Tang put them into her spatial storage to prevent them from eating cold dumplings if anyone came back late.
While boiling dumplings, Bai Tang also chopped radishes into chunks, preparing to cook a hot radish soup, and sprinkled some shrimp into the soup.
While Bai Tang was cooking the second pot of dumplings, Gu Yanxu and the others returned in turn.
Seeing the kitchen light on, I entered the kitchen and was greeted by the aroma of dumplings.
Gu Yanxu walked to Bai Tang's side: "Let me do it."
Bai Tang pushed him away and said, "You guys have been busy all day. I'll cook them right away and bring them to the living room in a bit."
Then they all waited to get the dumplings and start eating.
Soon all the dumplings were cooked, and they each carried a different flavor of dumplings back to the living room.
After working for half an hour, Bai Tang couldn't help but sigh, "Forget it, I'll try to eat ready-made meals first in the future. Cooking is also physically demanding. I'd rather just give up."
Then Bai Tang couldn't help but feel relieved again that the grilled skewers and desserts she had prepared for dinner were readily available.
While eating dumplings, they chattered about the changes at the base.
Lin Fan said, "This afternoon, everyone in our base's canteen was asked to pick up a serving of vegetarian dumplings to take home for the Winter Solstice."
Although the base cannot guarantee that everyone will have dumplings, it has done its best to ensure that everyone who goes there can get a small bowl of dumplings.
The others said, "We don't have time to collect it, but the leaders said that everyone will receive an extra ten contribution points."
Bai Tang: "It's okay, whether we accept it or not, we have some at home, so we won't fight with them for this one."
The group spent a warm and cozy winter solstice together.
Bai Tang: "I hope we can still be a family like this in the future."
Gu Yanxu looked at Bai Tang and said, "Yes, we'll definitely stay together in the future."
The others teased Gu Yanxu and Bai Tang, saying, "Sister-in-law, you two will definitely stay together in the future!"
After they finished eating the dumplings, Bai Tang asked them to bring over the radish soup that was warming up on the stove, so that everyone could have a little to warm themselves up.
Bai Tang also brought out some grilled skewers and desserts.
When Bai Jiyang and Lin Fan, those two lively characters, saw the skewers and desserts, they decisively put down the radish soup and then rushed to eat the skewers.
After a lively dinner, Bai Tang finished tidying up the rest of the things.
He also told them to make sure they got rid of the smell when they washed up, so that no one could smell it.
After all, there are quite a few people in the base who have nothing to eat right now, so their noses are incredibly sensitive.
Bai Tang sprayed some air freshener in the living room and then went to wash up, so that Gu Yu wouldn't smell the barbecue skewers when he came to find her again.
After washing up, Bai Tang came out and lay down on the bed next to Gu Yanxu.
Bai Tang: "I'm thinking about whether I should go out and find a job. I don't think it's good to just stay at home every day, after all, the extreme cold still has about two more years to go."
Gu Yanxu hugged Bai Tang, patted her head, and said tenderly:
"It's okay, you can do whatever you want. If you want to find a job, then find a job. If you don't want to find a job, then stay home. I'll support you."
Bai Tang looked up and interrupted Gu Yanxu: "Hmm? What you said is wrong. With so many supplies in my space, I should be the one supporting you."
Gu Yanxu nodded: "That's right, that's right, you're the one supporting us, rich wife~ please take care of me~"
He was about to kiss her when Bai Tang raised her hand to stop his head from reaching out.
"Stop, you have to go to work tomorrow, go to bed early."
Gu Yanxu simply covered himself with the blanket, ignoring Bai Tang's refusal.
...(Amiable dividing line)...
The next morning, Bai Tang did not get up. The rest of them ate the leftover food in the kitchen, which was made by Gu Yanxu.
After the others had all left for work, Bai Tang finally woke up.
Bai Tang thought to herself: I need to be more restrained.
Then he got out of bed to find food. When Guantou saw Baitang come out, he enthusiastically pounced on her, acting coquettishly and asking to be touched.
Bai Tang took the canned food directly into the space and then casually grabbed some breakfast to tide her over.
She was thinking about whether she could do something at the base, since she was just idling around all day with nothing to do anyway.
