Chapter 99 Night Walk
Soon the cars in front slowed down and gradually came to a stop.
Gu Yanxu also stopped the car, and then he and Bai Tang got out and sat on the sofa in the RV to rest for a while.
Bai Tang handed the bread in her hand to Gu Yanxu.
Gu Yanxu said pitifully, "Honey, my arms are sore and weak."

Gu Yanxu immediately stood up and said honestly:

Gu Yanxu took care of personal matters in the RV's bathroom.
Then I climbed onto the RV bed to rest for a bit.
Bai Tang got out of the car and went to the driver's seat, and then Lin Fan's voice came through the walkie-talkie.
"Moshi Moshi, is the boss here?"
Bai Tang picked up the walkie-talkie and replied, "No, the boss went to rest."
Lin Fan: "Hey, it's my sister-in-law."
Bai Tang: "It's me, what's wrong?"
Lin Fan: "It's okay, it's my turn to drive now. I'm a bit bored and wanted to chat with the boss, but I didn't expect my sister-in-law to drive instead."
Bai Tang replied, "It's the same if we chat for a bit. You guys are all doing alright, aren't you?"
Lin Fan said into the walkie-talkie, "We're doing great, don't worry, sister-in-law."
While they were driving, Bai Tang put the canned food into her spatial storage and let Mu Mu play with it.
Because the road conditions weren't very good, I was worried that the canned food might get bumped or knocked over in the car.
So Bai Tang openly brought the canned food onto the RV, but actually stored it away in the space after getting on the RV.
During the ten-minute break, Bai Tang took the can out to air it out and soothe it before putting it back in the space.
Thankfully, the canned food was well-behaved and didn't run around in the space.
The ten-minute study session ended quickly, and Chen Weiliang's voice came through the walkie-talkie:
"We are all ready to move forward."
Soon the car in front started moving forward, and Bai Tang started her car to follow.
The following section of the road was not particularly smooth because the road surface couldn't withstand the extreme heat and cracked.
This resulted in the road not being very easy to travel on, and the cars at the front of the convoy had already tried their best to find a good section of road to drive on.
Bai Tang drove for two hours, during which time Lin Fan and Bai Jiyang kept talking to her on the walkie-talkie, so she wasn't bored at all.
Bai Tang was just worried that their constant talking might disturb Lin Feng and Lin Zhou's rest.
Bai Tang asked the two of them, "How can they sleep while you've been talking like this on the way?"
Lin Fan said from the other end, "Don't worry, sister-in-law. Lin Feng sleeps soundly. Even if the sky falls, he might not be able to handle it."
Bai Jiyang whispered, "Brother Linzhou slept quite soundly, and I kept my voice down the whole time."
Bai Tang: "Okay, that's good. Try not to disturb their rest."
During a rest stop, Lin Fan and Bai Jiyang knocked on the door of Bai Tang's RV.
Bai Tang opened the door for them, and after the two came up, Lin Fan went straight to the bathroom.
Bai Jiyang urged him from the doorway, "Hurry up!"
Bai Tang chuckled at the sight and whispered a word of advice:
"Keep your voices down, there's someone sleeping in the car."
Gu Yanxu was sleeping on the bed above the driver's seat, where Bai Tang used to sleep as well.
This way, it's convenient to call someone promptly if anything happens.
After Bai Jiyang and Lin Fan finished taking care of their personal matters, they sat down to rest on the sofa in the RV.
Bai Tang returned to the driver's seat and waited for the departure notice.
Ten minutes passed quickly, and Lin Fan and his companion returned to their respective cars.
The convoy slowly continued forward, driving for about half an hour.
Suddenly, Chen Weiliang's voice came through the walkie-talkie:
"Everyone, please stop the car. There are some obstacles ahead that prevent our vehicles from passing."
Please be aware of your surroundings.
After the car in front stopped, Bai Tang also slowly stopped her car.
Bai Tang was wondering whether to wake Gu Yanxu when she heard his voice.
"What happened up ahead? Why did it suddenly stop?"
Bai Tang turned to look at him and said, "I don't know exactly what happened either."
Then I heard Captain Chen say on the walkie-talkie that there were obstacles ahead.
Gu Yanxu got off the bed and sat in the passenger seat.
Gu Yanxu said, "I'm still a bit sleepy. Let's be on guard around us, since we're in the middle of nowhere."
Bai Tang said, "Go back and get some more sleep. I'm here for you."
Gu Yanxu rubbed his eyes and said, "It's okay. When the company was busy before, not sleeping for 48 hours was no problem."
Something might have happened outside, and I can't leave you to face it alone.
At that moment, Lin Fan's voice came through the walkie-talkie again:
"Sister-in-law, I heard someone on the walkie-talkie ahead say that there seems to be a large patch of mutated plants on the highway ahead that have penetrated the road, making it impossible for cars to pass."
Bai Tang: "When did you start hanging out with the people in the car in front of you?"
Lin Fan said, "They're from Captain Zhao's team. Please call me the social butterfly."
Gu Yanxu continued, "Then, social expert, did your friend tell you how the person in front of you planned to resolve this?"
Lin Fan coughed twice first, then said:
"As far as I know, Captain Chen plans to burn those mutated plants to death with gasoline."
Bai Tang continued, "I guess Captain Chen is hesitating whether or not to use fire."
Because gasoline is so precious, even though they were poor but traveled with plenty of it, they probably brought a lot of gasoline with them.
However, gasoline is a non-renewable resource; every drop used is a drop less available.
Lin Fan scratched his head and said, "What if we can't use less gasoline?"
Bai Tang said, "Use alcohol or wine to act as gasoline."
Both alcohol and spirits can cause explosions and fires; spirits will burn violently when they come into contact with an open flame.
Hopefully, we can burn a path through it; otherwise, we'll have to take a detour.
Sure enough, after Bai Tang finished speaking with them, Chen Weiliang said into the walkie-talkie:
"The road ahead is blocked, and we don't have enough gasoline to support our extra trip."
Therefore, we need to use alcohol and liquor to burn the mutated plants in front of us.
We don't have nearly enough alcohol and spirits, so we hope everyone can contribute. We won't force anyone to help if they don't want to.
Chen Weiliang's words sparked a discussion within the team.
Because when traveling, no one carries a lot of alcohol or liquor; at most, a group might have one or two bottles of medical alcohol as spares.
