Cherreads

Chapter 25 - 25

Chapter 25 Are you alright?

"You have so many supplies, and you still want to share them with us? How can you be so shameless?"

Upon hearing this, the others in line and those who had received their supplies and were about to go upstairs turned around to look.

Such a trivial scheme, it's utterly boring. Yu Miaomiao found Lin Miaorong's pointless tricks both amusing and tedious.

But Lin Miaorong felt that even a small amount of food was still food. She already had so many supplies, so she could share the relief supplies for the two of them with the other residents in the building.

She also wanted to use this sentence to arouse suspicion among the people, so that those with ulterior motives would remember it and try to steal or rob their supplies.

In the apocalypse, there is no order. As long as one person succeeds, she can sit back and watch the tigers fight without getting hurt, achieving two goals at once.

"Is it any of your business?"

Are you alright?

Voices rose and fell in the crowd, but Lin Miaorong did not hear the doubts she wanted to hear.

"You think you're worthy to covet the boss's things? What business is it of yours if she earned them through her own abilities?"

The men who had once followed Zhang Fengqiang had all witnessed Yu Miaomiao's ruthlessness. Not only did they not dare to make a fuss, but if they spoke up for their leader, they might be able to lead their brothers to roam the apocalypse.

You have to distinguish between a full meal and a full meal, right? Besides, what if the boss gets upset and pulls out a gun?

Yu Miaomiao and Lu An have long been an inviolable red line in the building, and no one would want to invite trouble. Now that municipal supplies have been distributed, there is more hope for the future. Making trouble out of nothing might lead to an even faster death. The building has been very peaceful recently, except for Lin Miaorong, who always wants to stir up trouble.

"The Qing Dynasty is over, and you're still playing those palace intrigue games? The base's supply distribution team didn't say I couldn't get my supplies, so your nonsense is ridiculous."

After Yu Miaomiao finished speaking, she quickly went upstairs, and Lu An followed behind, waving his fist at Lin Miaorong.

Lin Miaorong stood there, stunned, biting her lip tightly, both angry and annoyed. This trick had always worked before, but now it was no longer effective on Yu Miaomiao.

Seeing that there was no excitement to watch, the rest of the crowd also left. Zhang Fengqiang's wife, Ye Xuan, shook her head, turned around and left with her son. This girl still couldn't see things clearly. Some people have a protagonist's halo. No matter how much you mess around, it will only backfire on you.

The only way to protect yourself from such people is to avoid them.

Back home, the three little ones were already waiting at the door. When they saw them carrying things back, they shook their heads and came over, "Meow, human, let me see what prey you brought back?"

Tuanzi leaned forward to smell the packaging bag, and detected a musty smell that lingered even after the rice had been soaked in water. She then disgustedly scratched at the floor with her little paws.

"Meow, this is bad, you can't eat it, human, it will make you sick."

Sesame Paste also leaned over to smell it, and it was indeed spoiled. She picked it up with her mouth and threw it into the trash can.

After Lu An intercepted the item, the girl was still frantically rummaging through it. Seeing this, Yu Miaomiao quickly put the item into her spatial storage to prevent the three little ones from ruining the outer packaging.

In the days that followed, the two of them had no plans. With no activity in the building, they could lie down peacefully.

The first batch of vegetables planted in Yu Miaomiao's space have sprouted, and she called Lu An to discuss how to harvest them.

The green vegetables all grew white and tender. There were no pests or diseases in the space. Moreover, thanks to the space's inherent properties, the soil was fertile and the growth was vigorous. They hardly needed any fertilizer and were allowed to grow freely.

This perfect growing environment immediately sparked their desire to farm.

After harvesting the first batch of vegetables, the two began to discuss what to plant next to eat. Yu Miaomiao arranged all the seeds from her space on the ground and then faced a dilemma.

"I want to eat strawberries, and I also like cherries. Watermelons are also good. What should I plant?" Actually, there are countless fruits and vegetables readily available in the space, but the fun of growing them yourself lies in the process. She used to be busy with life, but the apocalypse has given her the opportunity to fully enjoy and experience life.

"Let's plant cherries. Everyone says cherries are delicious but the trees are hard to grow. I wonder how difficult it would be to try." Lu An put on her glasses and flipped through her well-worn plant guide. Reading e-books for too long made her eyes uncomfortable; paper books were much more enjoyable to read.

"First, you need to choose neutral or slightly acidic soil, emmm..." Yu Miaomiao leaned closer, reading the book. They couldn't be too particular about the soil, and they had no way to test the pH level, so they could only try planting it first.

They rummaged through a pile of seeds and found cherry seeds. Some of the seeds were bought from a farm in the United States, where they selected varieties that had large fruit, ripened early, and were high-yielding. The other part were local varieties, which are well-known in northern China and are the ones the two of them liked to eat.

Plant two varieties at the same time to compare and see which one is more suitable for the available land, and then you can mainly plant this type of cherry later.

Without further ado, she divided the field into two plots, marked them with a red line to distinguish the two different varieties. In fact, the difference would naturally become clear once the fruit ripened, but Yu Miaomiao always liked to do things that didn't really matter.

After planting the seeds, you can wait for them to sprout. Cherry germination rates are quite high, so no special treatment is needed.

After planting the cherry trees, Yu Miaomiao began to think about clearing land. After the space was upgraded, a large area was not specifically planned. She wanted to choose an area as a medicinal field so that she could plant some mutated herbs that had medicinal value and were harmless.

As she thought about it, she suddenly regretted that when she was stockpiling supplies, she should have stockpiled some agricultural machinery. That way, planting and harvesting by hand would only involve planting a little bit and wouldn't feel tiring. Instead, it would feel novel. However, in the long run, manual planting is not a sustainable solution.

If she can buy or exchange them at the base later, she definitely wants to get a few. Just imagine how wonderful it would be to be able to plant, harvest, and store everything automatically while lying in bed!

"What are you thinking?" Lu An suddenly slapped Yu Miaomiao on the shoulder, startling her so much that she almost drew her sword a second ago.

"I'm wondering what we're going to eat later?"

"What do you want to eat? I'll make it for you." After leaving the space, Lu An went to the kitchen to find ingredients, then looked at the freshly picked vegetables, and thought for a moment, "How about hot pot?"

"Okay, I want to eat baby bok choy and dried tofu!"

"OK!" They hit it off immediately, a perfect understanding between dining buddies and best friends.
