Chapter 69 - 69

Chapter 69 Crisis

"ah!"

Screams echoed through the underground city.

Even the robots that were diligently moving stones stopped what they were doing and looked towards the source of the sound for a few seconds.

Yu Miaomiao had just stepped out of the mission hall when she saw a group of armed personnel escorting a group of medical staff and wounded patients out of the hospital.

Everyone ran out in a panic. Yu Miaomiao even saw a member of Yi Tie's team, his head drooping down, seemingly still unconscious, being pushed out in a wheelchair.

Hospital, evacuation, screams.

These keywords quickly brought a person to Yu Miaomiao's mind.

Then she saw a familiar figure in the lead of the armed forces – Chu Bai – and she understood the situation pretty well.

She didn't expect the mutant incident to escalate so quickly; in just a few days, a second case appeared and became out of control.

It wasn't until she saw a green object crawling out of the hospital's main entrance that she realized it was either the second case or Li Yi.

Li Yi's body had been stitched up, but he still couldn't walk upright. He tried to straighten his upper body and dragged his lower body forward.

It seems that, besides being disgusting, it also has a pitiful and tragic quality.

The monster moved very slowly, allowing the entire hospital to be safely evacuated. Armed forces were positioned at the forefront, constantly monitoring its movements.

All that could be heard was sporadic hisses coming from his mouth, but it was impossible to make out what he was saying.

This state can no longer be described as human.

Aside from crawling, it made no other attacking movements, so the armed forces did not launch an attack first, fearing that doing so would anger the monster, especially given the large number of people present.

Not long after, Yang Silu, who was directing the excavation work at the entrance of the underground city, also arrived at the scene.

Yu Miaomiao also saw He Liang and his patrol team arrive at the scene and continuously disperse the onlookers.

He Liang even took the time to wave to Yu Miaomiao; he was in much better spirits now than he was during the apocalypse.

However, the crowds that kept pouring into the square to watch were becoming increasingly overwhelming and could not be controlled at all.

Even Yu Miaomiao was caught up in it, and before long, she even got a VIP seat in the front row.

She decided to stand in the crowd and watch, wanting to know what had caused Li Yi's condition.

If there is a real possibility of it spreading, she must immediately work with Lu An to prepare a plan to evacuate the underground city.

However, considering that the dungeon existed until Yu Miaomiao died in the previous life, it shouldn't be destroyed so quickly.

Li Yi half-crouched at the hospital entrance, his eyes still adjusting to the underground city lights, squinting as he scanned the crowd.

When he saw Yu Miaomiao in the crowd, his eyes revealed his ferocity, and he roared as he crawled toward her.

The surrounding crowd retreated in fright, leaving only Yu Miaomiao standing there, staring intently at Li Yi with a look of inquiry in her eyes.

At this moment, Chu Bai also noticed Yu Miaomiao in the crowd. She seemed to be the woman who was with Lu An last time.

When Chu Bai looked at Yu Miaomiao, he found that her expression was normal, without a trace of fear.

His calm and indifferent demeanor bore a resemblance to Lu An's.

"Captain, isn't that the team leader we investigated last time, Yu Miaomiao?"

Chen Haohua saw that stunning profile and immediately recognized her as the person they had met when they visited the villa area last time.

Chu Bai didn't send his team to stop her; he wanted to see what Yu Miaomiao would do.

Moreover, Li Yi showed no intention of attacking anyone else, but when he saw Yu Miaomiao, he roared incessantly, indicating that his target had always been this woman named Yu Miaomiao.

"What's the situation with this person?" Yang Silu had obviously noticed this as well, and asked his secretary in a low voice.

"She is the captain of Yu An's team of registered superhumans at the base. Her name is Yu Miaomiao. She is a space-type superhuman and received a very high score when she entered the base."

The secretary didn't hesitate and quickly retrieved the information, reading it aloud to Chief Yang.

"I remember now, when Chu Bai came to report last time, wasn't it the team that had a dispute with Yi Tie's team?"

"yes."

This piqued Yang Silu's interest in what was to come. He had initially thought that the emergence of mutants within the base would create intractable problems for the base.

It now appears that, apart from the mutation, this mutant still retains some rationality and at least knows who he hates.

"Isn't this Li Yi? How did he end up like this? It's true what they say, karma really works."

"Yes, wasn't he already dead? How did he turn into such a monster?"

"I thought he was strange before. His face was so pale, he didn't look normal at all. I thought he had some incurable disease."

"Oh, so it's because it did too many evil deeds that it turned into a monster."

Besides Yu Miaomiao's curiosity, other people with superpowers also mingled in the crowd to find out what was going on.

They all had some grudges or disputes with Li Yi, but they were all the ones who lost in their struggles with him.

Only when the monster crawled closer did someone finally recognize it as Li Yi.

The superhumans began to whisper among themselves, and these harsh words immediately aggravated Li Yi's sensitive nerves.

He abruptly abandoned his attempt to climb towards Yu Miaomiao and instead launched an attack on the superhumans who were discussing the matter.

This was something neither Yu Miaomiao nor the other superhumans had expected.

However, the superhumans had nothing to fear about him when they saw him like this. They used to be afraid of his poison, but now he crawls on the ground, slower than a tortoise.

Those superhumans were so contemptuous that they didn't even bother to attack, simply keeping a distance that wasn't too close or too far, toying with Li Yi.

"Ahhh..." Li Yi roared furiously, suddenly standing up from the ground, his body swelling several times its original size, with thick green juice splattering everywhere.

The splattered juice landed on the ground, instantly forming a cloud of scorching mist.

Several superhumans who couldn't dodge in time were splashed with the liquid, their thick winter clothing was burned off, and their exposed skin was corroded, creating chaos at the scene.

Seeing that the situation was not good, the armed forces immediately opened fire and killed the person.

At this moment, it is probably too late.

The bullets hit Li Yi as if they were hitting cotton, slowly being absorbed into his body through his skin.

The more times Li Yi was shot, the larger and faster his body swelled.

Under the heavy firepower of the armed forces, Li Yi's body was almost reaching the ceiling of the underground city.

"Stop right now! Can't you see that the firepower will only make him more arrogant?"

Yu Miaomiao dodged the cracks in the ground caused by Li Yi's frantic hammering.

Run quickly to Chu Bai's side and ask him to order the soldiers to stop attacking.

Chu Bai also realized the problem and immediately ordered his troops to escort the civilians to a safe area and cease fire attacks.

At this moment, Chu Bai's gaze flickered as he looked at Yu Miaomiao. Yu Miaomiao remained calm and composed, seemingly unaffected by anything or any unexpected event.
