Chapter 211 Waiting
Chu Bai accepted the suggestion of the Official Base captain and slowly walked towards the simple shack.
Although it doesn't look very sturdy, it can at least provide some shelter in this situation.
Upon entering the shed, Chu Bai immediately began preparing to contact Chief Yang.
He took a portable communication device out of his backpack and checked the signal reception.
Because the communication facilities here may be affected to some extent, Chu Bai needs to find a location with a better signal to make a call.
"Everyone, take a break," Chu Bai told his teammates. "I'll try to contact Chief Yang. If all goes well, we should get a reply soon."
Chu Bai walked up to Yu Miaomiao and the others, and Yu Miaomiao immediately understood his intention.
He wanted to contact K directly.
Yu Miaomiao did not refuse, since K was originally part of the Underground City base.
"This is Chu Bai, requesting to speak with Chief Yang," Chu Bai said into K's communicator. "Repeat, this is Chu Bai, requesting to speak with Chief Yang."
While waiting for a response, Chu Bai observed his surroundings to make sure no potential dangers were approaching.
After a while, there was a lot of noise coming from the communicator, followed by a familiar voice: " Chu Bai? This is Director Yang Silu. How are things on your end?"
Hearing the response, Chu Bai breathed a sigh of relief: " Chief Yang, we've encountered some difficulties."
Are we being prevented from entering the base because of some communication problem?
Next, Chu Bai explained in detail their situation and the Squad leader's decision.
Chief Yang paused for a moment, then replied, "I understand. I will handle this immediately and see if special permission can be arranged. Please be patient and ensure your safety."
"Thank you, Chief Yang," Chu Bai said gratefully.
After hanging up the communication, Chu Baiinformed the team members of the situation.
" Chief Yang will help handle this issue; we just need to wait a little longer."
Try to conserve your energy; there may be more challenges ahead.
The team members nodded in understanding, each finding a corner to sit down. Some closed their eyes to rest, while others began to check and maintain the equipment.
Everyone is preparing for the unknown and hopes that things can be resolved as soon as possible.
But on the other side, it's a completely different scene.
"Mr. Gu, Director Yang Silu is calling again."
A female secretary sat in the lap of this man surnamed Gu, complaining in a somewhat coquettish tone.
"We don't need to evacuate at all. They acted on their own initiative and didn't allow us to refuse. It's really annoying."
"Hmph, this old bastard, he thinks he can just send a bunch of rabble into my city? He really thinks I'm his subordinate."
The man surnamed Gu looked disdainful, waved his hand to indicate that the person who came to report did not need to be paid attention, and then went about enjoying wine and entertainment with his female secretary.
Gu Lin's attitude was clearly out of step with the urgency of the situation; he seemed more concerned with his own enjoyment than with the outside world.
Under such circumstances, his decision could pose a greater risk to the base.
But the female secretary just smiled and continued to drink and chat with him, as if the crisis outside had nothing to do with them.
---
Back to Chu Bai's side, as time ticked by, everyone seemed a little anxious.
Although Chief Yang promised to resolve the issue as soon as possible, the exact timeframe remains unknown.
Chu Bai tried to keep his teammates calm while also thinking of other solutions.
"If we don't get a response for a long time, we need to consider backup plans," Chu Bai said. "We can't just sit here and wait; we must prepare for the worst."
The team members nodded in agreement.
Chu Bai began assigning tasks: one group was responsible for monitoring the surrounding environment to prevent any accidents, while the other group was responsible for organizing supplies for unforeseen circumstances.
"If they won't let us in, we might as well give up here and go directly to the Nuclear Power Plant."
Lu An was getting anxious. The crisis at the Nuclear Power Plant was urgent, and they were still wasting their time here.
Just then, the communicator rang again.
