Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Taylah spent the next week resting, rarely leaving her room. She only came out to eat, but every time she did, she threw up whatever she had eaten. Constant nausea and morning sickness plagued her.

She saw the doctor for check-ups and took medication to help with the sickness, but her depression weighed heavily on her. Arjan's harassment haunted her, leaving her sleepless at night. She wanted to end this painful chapter of her life.

Determined to seek justice for herself and her unborn child, Taylah made a decision. She would confront Arjan. Dicentra didn't interfere with Taylah's choice. She always encouraged Taylah to be strong and silently vowed to stand by her side, ready to protect her if needed.

One bright morning, Taylah emerged from her room, ready for something important. She wore a simple dress and light makeup. Dicentra, who was setting the dining table, noticed her and sensed that today was different.

"Dicentra... I'm going out for a while," Taylah said softly, like a little bird. Dicentra turned to her. "First eat your breakfast, and then you can go. I have no objections," she said, pointing to the chair. Taylah couldn't refuse, so she sat down and started eating. Dicentra served her. Although she didn't eat much, she had just enough to please Dicentra. After finishing her breakfast, Taylah headed out straight to Davier's company.

Upon reaching the reception, she said, "I'm here to meet President Arjan." She placed her hands on the desk. "Do you have an appointment, miss?" the receptionist replied, her tone arrogant. "Another desperate girl wanting to see the president. Dream on," the receptionist thought to herself. "Tell President Arjan that the daughter of the Edwards family is here to see him," Taylah insisted, refusing to give up.

The receptionist ignored her and continued with her work. At that moment, Taylah heard a commotion; everyone started murmuring. Arjan and Ethan emerged from the elevator, deep in discussion about work, unaware of their surroundings. They walked toward the entrance but were blocked by Taylah. "Arjan... I need to speak with you in private," she said, meeting his dusty blue eyes.

Ethan was taken aback when he saw Taylah. Everyone in the Edwards family had been searching for her, and her sudden appearance was shocking. He wondered why she wanted to talk to his brother. For a moment, he was confused; her boldness caught him off guard. His heart raced.

Her pale and skinny appearance struck a sharp pain in his heart. Although he was the one who ended their engagement, he later regretted it, but she had disappeared.

The guilt consumed him. It had only been more then one month without Taylah it seemed, but to him, it felt like a decade. She used to follow him everywhere like a loyal puppy, yet he never appreciated her presence. Just hearing Dia's words made him realize he had lost something precious. Now, he knew it was too late for regrets.

"There's nothing to discuss," Arjan interrupted her and turned to leave, with Ethan following closely behind. The staff around them began to murmur and gossip.

"I'm pregnant," she shouted, drawing attention. People quickly took out their phones to record the scene. Arjan and Ethan stopped in their tracks, both shocked and surprised by her words. Taylah approached Arjan and declared, "I'm pregnant with your child. You need to take responsibility, Mr. Arjan Davier." She mustered all her courage to confront the person she despised the most.

"Are you threatening me?" he scoffed.

"I'm just here to take what's mine," she replied before leaving the company. He didn't expect her to stand up to him, leaving Ethan momentarily speechless.

In the past, she had been sensitive and naive, but he wasn't sure what she was like now. They left the company without caring about the consequences. Meanwhile, staff members who recorded the encounter shared the videos and photos online, causing it to go viral within an hour.

The video quickly became a trending topic, creating chaos for Davier's company. Their stock prices began to drop due to the gossip.

The Edwards family found out about the situation and were furious. To fix the mess, the Davier family announced Taylah as Arjan's fiancée, while Dia became engaged to Ethan. This turn of events turned Dia's world upside down. She had tried to undermine Taylah, but instead, her plan led to Taylah becoming Arjan's fiancée.

They searched for Taylah again, but she didn't pay any attention to the news. Dia's plan had backfired, and little did Taylah know that something big was about to happen.

She felt she had no choice but to return to her family before the situation worsened. As she silently packed her clothes, a deep sadness washed over her.

"Are you really leaving, Taylah? I'm worried… Please don't go there," Dicentra's voice trembled. "They will do something. They could harm you," she continued, her fear evident.

"I'm so grateful to have you and Louis as friends during this time. Don't worry, I'll be fine. They won't bully me anymore because I'm going to marry Arjan," Taylah said, forcing a weak smile that tugged at Dicentra's heart.

She didn't know what Arjan would do after their marriage, but she wasn't afraid of him anymore. After a brief pause, Taylah finished packing her belongings.

She said her final goodbye to Dicentra and left the apartment. Louis drove her to the Edwards mansion. As he dropped her off, he asked, "Are you sure you want to go there?"

Taylah smiled reassuringly. "I'll be fine. Don't worry, Louis." She took her things and walked through the majestic gate, while he sighed and drove away.

For a moment, she hesitated, her heart racing. Memories of the torment she had faced in that house flooded her mind, and her body began to tremble. Gathering all her strength, she walked inside the mansion.

Taylah entered the mansion, and an eerie silence enveloped her. As she walked further inside, Dia suddenly slapped her. Reacting quickly, Taylah grabbed Dia's hand and retaliated with a slap of her own.

"Ouch! You bitch! How dare you slap me?" Dia exclaimed, fuming with anger.

"It's your setup, Dia. You're the one who made me do this—just blame yourself. I'm just an 18-year-old girl who has suffered a lot because of your selfishness. Don't push me; you won't like the consequences," Taylah said, releasing Dia's hand and walking toward her room. Everyone else fell silent, surprised by her sudden assertiveness.

Once in her room, she locked the door. Everything was unchanged, covered in dust. She sighed and placed her luggage on the table before heading to the cupboard. There, she picked up her mother's photo and held it tightly.

"Mom, I don't know what's going to happen, but I will get revenge for your death. I know they are responsible. I just want to know the real reason," she whispered, clutching the photo.

She sat on the floor and curled up, seeking comfort in her memories.
