Chapter 123 - 6th Section

CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY THREE

### The Sixth Section

The sixth generating section crossed threshold on the thirty-first day after the withdrawal.

Li Shan announced it at dawn.

"The sixth section is generating," he said. "Independent. Permanent."

Six of six.

All six sections the growing season work had targeted for threshold within six months had crossed the line. Three had crossed during the suppression deployments despite the counter-frequency. Three had crossed in the weeks after.

All six now generating independently.

Whatever Shadow Sect's option three looked like — whatever adaptation they eventually chose — those six sections were past the point of suppression.

Jian Yu stood at the platform and extended the domain.

All six were present in the peripheral awareness. Not developing sections reaching toward threshold. Generating sections producing their own cultivation frequency. Steady. Independent. The specific quality of something that had crossed from building to being.

"It is done," Bing Xi said from the Frostbite position stone.

"This phase," he said.

"Yes," she said. "This phase."

She said it without correction. She had meant this phase and he had said this phase and they both understood that the work always had a next phase and that this was the correct way to say it.

He stepped off the platform.

He went to the camp table.

He wrote.

Not a relay message. Not archive documentation.

Three paragraphs. The wielder's record addition. The specific entry for this morning.

He wrote: *The sixth section crossed threshold this morning. Six of six. All the sections the growing season work targeted for the first phase have reached generation. Permanent. Independent. The Shadow Sect's suppression cannot touch them.*

*I stood on the platform and read all six simultaneously at Sharpening stage range. They felt like — I do not have a precise word for it. Not pride. Something that was pride's quieter relative. The specific quality of having done the thing you set out to do and finding that the doing was what you expected and also more than you expected.*

*Master Feng said don't waste it. I have been answering that instruction for fourteen months.*

*Six generating sections. A formation that held against the Void Anchor application. An archive that begins with River-Stone three centuries ago and documents every practitioner who felt something real in the land before they had words for what they were feeling.*

*I do not think this is what he meant by it.*

*I think this is exactly what he meant by it.*

He folded the three paragraphs and sent them to Li Shan.

Li Shan's response: *Added to the wielder's human record. No edits. Perfect as written.*

*Also: Shen Bo says congratulations. He says he knew the six sections would all make it. He has known since the spring community's founder chose the hill because it felt right. He says this as someone who is being extremely insufferable about being right.*

*Also from Shen Bo: the River-Stone sequence reconstruction is complete. The full sequence went to the clearing practitioners and the hub's support network yesterday. Practitioners across the realm received it this morning.*

*River-Stone's complete sequence. Three centuries later.*

*Available to anyone who wants it.*

He read that message three times.

The River-Stone sequence complete and distributed.

Three centuries from one practitioner with a sword and a clearing in the southern lowlands to the full sequence in the hands of every practitioner in the network.

Don't waste it.

Nothing had been wasted.

Not one day.

He counted fourteen breaths.

He stayed at fourteen.

The winter morning was cold. He could feel all of it — the cost had cleared, the temperature was present, the specific committed cold of Ice Sect's outer territory in deep winter was fully there.

He felt it and counted fourteen breaths.

He was glad to feel the cold again.
