In a world where everyone is born with talent…
I was born with nothing.
Talent in this world comes in four traits. Every person possesses one of them—Strength, Intelligence, Beauty, or Richness.
Those born with richness become nobles and rulers.
Those with strength become soldiers and warriors.
Those with intelligence work in research, magic, and business.
And those with beauty influence the world with charm and presence.
And then… there's me.
I have none of them.
Maybe that's why my parents abandoned me.
To be honest, I've never even seen them.
I grew up in an orphanage.
My name is Kai.
I don't have many friends there, but I do have two close ones—Rin and Katty.
Rin possesses the Strength trait.
Katty has the Intelligence trait.
In the orphanage, we can only stay until the age of fifteen. After that, we must leave and survive on our own.
Rin and Katty could easily find work using their traits.
But because of me… they chose not to.
Instead, the three of us decided to form a party and explore the world together.
So, we headed to the town of Marish—known as the "Town of Parties."
At the guild reception, we met a woman named Mary.
"Place your hand on the tablet," she said.
The tablet could identify our traits and abilities.
Before that, I should explain something important—
These traits are not just identities. They also grant powers.
Strength gives immense physical power and weapon mastery.
Intelligence allows the use of magic spells.
Beauty grants the ability to transform into any creature for one hour.
Richness allows the summoning of elemental golems.
Rin placed his hand first.
"Strength Trait detected. Bonus: 30% enhanced physical power and swordsman skill."
Katty went next.
"Intelligence Trait detected. Skills: Healing Magic, Fire Magic."
Then it was my turn.
I placed my hand on the tablet…
Nothing.
Mary handed us our party ID cards.
Each card displayed the owner's trait and abilities.
Rin's and Katty's cards were filled with skills.
Mine was empty.
Just like my fate.
But Rin and Katty didn't give up on me.
They never have.
Since childhood, they've always stood by my side.
This time… I wanted to do something for them too.
We first visited a weapon shop.
Rin bought a sword.
Katty bought a staff that enhanced her magic.
And I… bought a dagger.
At least I could do some damage.
Our first mission was simple—
Eliminate a goblin village.
Normally, each goblin village contains 30–50 goblins and one Goblin King.
The king alone has the strength of a thousand goblins.
Luckily, the king was reported to be absent.
This should be easy.
I came up with a plan.
Rin would charge in and draw their attention.
When the goblins rushed toward him, Katty would attack them with fire magic.
Then we would finish the rest together.
We executed the plan perfectly.
Rin stood like a wall.
Katty's flames burned through the goblins.
We wiped out dozens in moments.
Then all three of us rushed in.
Goblins were weak compared to their king.
Even I managed to kill eight of them.
Finally… we cleared the village.
We were about to leave when suddenly—
A chill ran down my spine.
Something felt… wrong.
"KAI!!"
Rin and Katty screamed and jumped toward me.
I turned around.
Too late.
A massive figure stood behind me—the Goblin King.
Its giant sword came crashing down.
I couldn't react.
The attack landed directly on me.
My vision blurred.
So… this is how it ends.
The last thing I saw—
Rin desperately fighting the king.
Katty trying to heal me.
Then…
Darkness.
When I opened my eyes, I was in a white room.
"Where… am I?"
"You are not dead yet."
A voice echoed.
"I am the God of the Moon."
"You will die soon."
I clenched my fists.
"What kind of joke is this?!"
"I was born without a trait… and now I'm going to die?! What about my friends?!"
"They may die as well," the god replied calmly.
My heart stopped.
"NO—please save them!"
"I cannot interfere directly," he said.
"But I can send you back… with power."
Power?
"You will receive a fifth trait—Adaptation."
"With this, you can use Spirit Magic."
"Normally, only those with Intelligence can use it—and even then, only for a short time."
"But you…"
"You can use it without limits."
"You will also gain a spirit."
"I grant you an Ice Spirit."
"Her name is… Chill."
Suddenly—
My eyes snapped open.
Rin and Katty were still fighting.
The Goblin King roared.
Then I felt something near my shoulder.
A tiny girl—no more than four inches tall—floated beside me.
Blue hair. Crystal-like eyes.
She looked… beautiful.
"Fight! Fight!" she chirped.
Ah… Chill.
I stood up slowly.
"Let's go."
"Icy Fang."
A massive spear of ice formed in the air—
—and shot straight through the Goblin King's head.
It collapsed instantly.
Silence.
Rin and Katty stared at me in shock.
Then they ran toward me and hugged me tightly.
And just like that…
My story begins.
