At Will Stone Academy, the afternoon after the football match was louder than usual. Students from different classes filled the corridors, talking about the game.
In Class 7B, the names everyone kept mentioning were Daniel Stone, Amani, Renée, Luna, Brian, Dimitris, and Odin.
Daniel, the boy with the box, sat quietly at the back of the classroom. His books were arranged neatly, and he was already writing notes before the teacher arrived.
Amani sat in front of him, turning around every few seconds.
"You really shocked everyone today," Amani said. "Even Coach Otieno looked surprised."
Daniel replied calmly, "It was just football."
Across the room, Renée dropped her bag onto her desk.
"Just football?" she said loudly. "You played like you've been training for years."
Luna, sitting beside Renée, nodded. She had been watching Daniel carefully ever since the match.
"You move like you already know where people will go," Luna said. "Like you predict it."
Brian leaned back in his chair.
"I still don't get how you see properly with that box," he said. "If I wore that thing, I'd bump into every desk."
Before Daniel could answer, two boys entered the classroom laughing.
It was Dimitris and Odin, known in the class for being competitive and loud, especially during sports.
"I heard you scored the goal," Dimitris said, walking toward Daniel.
Odin crossed his arms. "Lucky shot."
Renée frowned. "It wasn't luck."
Dimitris placed his hands on the desk.
"Then prove it," he said. "We're playing again tomorrow. After class."
Brian's eyes lit up. "Another match? Yes!"
Amani smiled. "That sounds fun."
Daniel stayed quiet for a moment.
Then he nodded once. "Fine."
Odin smirked. "Good. No excuses tomorrow."
Just then, Mr. Daniels walked into the classroom.
"Take your seats," he said firmly.
The students rushed back to their places.
"Today," Mr. Daniels continued, "you will work in teams to prepare a science poster about safety at school."
He began calling names.
"Group One: Daniel, Amani, Renée, Luna, Brian, Dimitris, and Odin."
Brian laughed. "That's almost the whole team from football."
Renée pulled her chair closer. "Let's just start."
They pushed their desks together, forming a large circle.
"Okay," said Amani, taking charge. "We need ideas first."
Luna picked up a pencil. "We can write about playground safety."
Brian added, "And classroom safety—like not running indoors."
Dimitris tapped the desk impatiently. "Let's not waste time talking."
Odin grabbed a marker. "I'll draw warning signs."
Renée nodded. "Good idea."
Daniel watched the group carefully before speaking.
"We should divide the work properly," he said. "Amani writes. Luna and Renée draw. Brian colors. Dimitris and Odin design the title. I will check the layout."
Everyone paused.
Brian blinked. "That… actually sounds organized."
Renée smiled. "Not bad, Daniel."
They got to work.
Amani wrote neatly across the top of the paper:
SAFETY FIRST AT WILL STONE ACADEMY
Luna and Renée drew pictures of students walking carefully, washing hands, and using equipment properly.
Brian colored the drawings, sometimes humming quietly.
Dimitris and Odin worked on the bold title letters, making them large and easy to read.
Daniel moved around the group, checking spacing and correcting small mistakes.
"Move that drawing slightly left," he told Renée.
"Add arrows here," he told Odin.
Even Dimitris listened, though he pretended not to care.
After some time, the poster began to look impressive.
"Hey," Brian said, surprised. "This actually looks really good."
Amani smiled proudly. "Best one we've made all term."
Just then, loud noise came from outside.
Students shouted.
"What's happening?" Luna asked.
Through the window, they saw a group of students running across the compound.
A loose wooden bench near the walkway had tipped sideways after someone bumped into it.
A small student was trying to lift one side but struggling.
Without thinking, Daniel moved first.
He stood up quickly.
"Come," he said.
Renée, Amani, Brian, Dimitris, Odin, and Luna followed him outside.
The wooden bench was heavy, and the younger student looked worried.
"I can't lift it," the younger boy said nervously.
Dimitris grabbed one side. "Let's lift together."
Odin held another corner.
"On three," said Amani.
"One… two… three!"
All of them pushed at the same time.
The bench lifted slowly, then settled back into place.
Dust rose into the air.
The younger student smiled.
"Thank you!"
Renée wiped her hands. "No problem."
Brian laughed. "That thing was heavier than it looked."
Luna looked at Daniel again.
Even while lifting, he had stayed calm and steady.
No rushing.
No panic.
Just action.
Dimitris looked at Daniel.
"You reacted fast," he admitted.
Odin nodded slightly. "Not bad."
The bell rang loudly across the compound.
"Back to class!" shouted Mr. Daniels from the doorway.
The group returned inside, breathing slightly harder but feeling proud.
As they sat down, Amani smiled.
"Today was busy," she said.
Brian grinned. "And tomorrow we have another football match."
Renée cracked her knuckles playfully. "This time, my team wins."
Dimitris smirked. "We'll see."
Luna looked at Daniel quietly.
"You don't talk much," she said softly. "But when something happens… you act fast."
Daniel remained still for a moment.
Then he answered calmly:
"I don't like wasting time when help is needed."
The classroom grew quiet for a second.
Outside, the wind moved through the trees of Will Stone Academy, carrying dust across the football field where tomorrow's match would happen.
And deep inside, everyone felt it—
Tomorrow's game would not be ordinary. ⚽📦
