Chapter 49 - Chapter 166: Rumours, Teasing, Pillows And Five More Minutes.

Jayjay'sPOV

The next time I blink my eyes open, the bedroom is completely quiet and warm. The sharp, painful throbbing in my temples has finally calmed down into a dull ache, and I can hear a steady, rhythmic thudding right beneath my cheek.

I look up slightly and realize my head is resting perfectly on Keifer's broad chest. His strong arms are still wrapped securely around me, keeping me tucked close against him like a protective shield.

Feeling a bit self-conscious about how tightly I am clinging to him, I slowly try to sit up and pull away. But the exact second I move, Keifer lets out a soft, sleepy murmur. Without even opening his eyes, his large hand gently comes up, rests right on top of my head, and firmly guides me back down until my cheek is pressed right back against his warm chest.

"Rest, Jay," he mumbled, his voice incredibly deep and rough from sleep.

"I'm fine now, Keifer," I said softly, looking up at him.

He finally opened his eyes, staring down at me intently as if searching my face for any remaining trace of the fever. Taking advantage of his movement, I carefully slid away from his chest. Keifer sighed and sat up, reaching over to the side table drawer. He pulled out the thermometer, gently grabbed my arm, and slid it back under my armpit.

When the thermometer finally beeped, he took it out and squinted at the digital screen.

"You still have a little bit of a fever," he said, his brows furrowing as he looked at it.

"But I don't feel like it anymore. I'm totally fine," I insisted. To prove my point, I threw off the covers, stood up right in front of him, and spread my arms wide. "See?"

Keifer looked up at me, taking a moment to evaluate my energy before finally giving me a slow nod. Satisfied, I sat back down on the edge of the mattress and turned to face him completely. I reached out, gently cupping his face with both of my hands, my thumbs resting on his cheekbones.

"From yesterday until now, you've been running around on one leg just to take care of me—"

"But I was on both legs," he cut me off smoothly, his face completely serious.

I froze for a split second, letting my hands drop from his face before I burst out laughing.

"Okay, fine! So you were on both legs," I giggled, rolling my eyes. "In that case, no reward for you."

The second the word reward left my mouth, Keifer's eyes lit up. In one swift, effortless motion, he yanked me forward until my back crashed right against his solid chest. His arms locked around my waist, trapping me against him.

"No way. I want my reward," he demanded, pouting like a stubborn little kid.

I chuckled at his childish behavior, leaning back slightly to press a soft kiss against his left cheek.

"Not enough," he muttered instantly, not loosening his grip even a fraction.

I smiled and leaned over to kiss his right cheek too. "There."

"Still not enough," he said, a handsome, victorious smile breaking across his lips as his gaze locked onto mine.

Suddenly feeling a rush of warmth that had nothing to do with my fever, I quickly looked down, trying to hide the blush creeping up my neck. "Nah, I'm tired now," I mumbled softly.

Keifer didn't say a word, but he kept staring down at me with an intense, melting look in his eyes—the kind of look that always makes me feel incredibly shy under his gaze.

"Since my wifey is too tired to give me another kiss, let's just stay here like this," Keifer said, a mischievous smirk spreading across his face.

"No way, Watson. We already missed school yesterday," I protested, instantly squirming and trying to wriggle out of his hold.

Instead of letting me go, his grip around my waist only tightened.

"Keifer, let go!" I whined, but he just stubbornly shook his head.

Without saying a word, he buried his face right into the crook of my neck, holding me so securely that no matter how much I struggled, I couldn't budge an inch. I was just about to resort to biting his arm again when suddenly, both of our phones on the nightstand started buzzing non-stop.

Buzz. Buzz. Buzz.

Keifer immediately looked up, his brow furrowing in deep annoyance. "Ruin my moment, why don't you..." he muttered under his breath, reaching out with one hand to grab his phone.

Taking complete advantage of the fact that he had unwrapped one arm from around me, I quickly slipped out of his grasp. I scrambled to the completely opposite corner of the bed, putting a safe distance between us, and unlocked my screen. Section E was absolutely blowing up the group chat.

Group: Ulupongs And Mutya

Eman: Sir Alvin told us tomorrow two days are off.

Josh: we know.

Yuri: we know but that was a reminder.

Danzel: We don't need reminders for a day off.

David: it wasn't for you guys, it was for the two love birds who missed school.

Eren: Bro two days off!!!!!

Kit: that's the only good thing our school does with our section, they give us days off almost every week.

Edrix: I'm bored at my house.

Rory: Then you can go to your "friend's" house.

Mayo: she'll kick his ass if he goes there.

Felix: let's do something fun.

Calix: Go on a trip.

Ci-n: nope it's so lame now.

Drew: everything is lame for you.

Blaster: Where Is jay and keifer, first they missed school yesterday and now they're not answering too.

Ci-n: Let's go to keifer's house.

Calix: we're not welcome there until jayjay gives permission to keifer.

Ci-n: I'm jayjay's best friend I'm welcome there anytime.

Felix: isn't jayjay looking a little fat now a days?

My jaw practically dropped. Did he just call me fat?!

Eren: she is.

This idiot too?! Oh, they are so dead.

Yuri: no I didn't notice that.

Thank goodness. At least someone in this section actually has functioning eyes.

David: yeah you guys are overthinking, she isn't fat she is just eating well nowadays.

Felix: or maybe she is pregnant.

WHAT THE HECK?!

My eyes snapped over to Keifer. He wasn't annoyed anymore—instead, a massive, evil smirk was plastered across his face as his thumbs flew across his keyboard.

Keifer: yeah she is.

Yuri: are you serious?

David: yeah he is.

Edrix: finally!!!

Felix: YAYYY!!!!!

Calix: Oh Thank God!

Ci-n: But what about me 🥺? I was JayFer's first child first 😭😭.

Blaster: shut up ci-n.

Eren: is this guy an idiot?

Drew: Wait am I an uncle now?

Eman: yes so now you should stop gambling.

Drew: I've stop that.

Denzel: And pay our debts too.

Drew: Next year maybe.

Mayo: section E is having another child.

Kit: what is happening?

Rory: jayjay is pregnant!!!

Kit: FINALLY!!!!!!

Josh: that's good.

I couldn't take it anymore. My fingers aggressively smashed into the screen as I typed out my reply in pure caps lock.

Me: Stupid Idiots I'm not.

Ci-n: so I'm an only child?

Felix: yes you idiot.

Ci-n: thank god.

Calix: shut up ci-n, you're a stupid idiot guy.

Ci-n: still I get the highest score, more than you 😛.

Calix: 🙄😮‍💨.

Blaster: I don't believe it 🙉

Eman: maybe she is.

Me: I'M NOT, PUT THIS IN YOUR SMALL HEADS 🤬👺😡.

Calix: ok ok calm down 🙌🏻.

Eman: Chill ✌🏻.

I glared at Keifer, completely annoyed, and locked my phone with a loud click.

"Don't talk to me anymore," I ordered sharply.

I threw the blankets off and stood up, ready to march away, but before I could take even a single step, Keifer lunged forward. His arms wrapped tightly around my waist, pulling me right back onto the mattress.

Without hesitation, I leaned down and bit his arm hard. At first, he just grit his teeth, trying to use his stupidly high pain tolerance to withstand it without reacting. But the second I dug my teeth in with full pressure, he finally cracked.

"Ow! Okay, okay!" he winced, immediately letting go.

I stood up instantly and marched straight toward the door. My hand was just making contact with the shiny metal doorknob when the floor suddenly vanished beneath my feet. Before I could even gasp, Keifer scooped me up effortlessly into his arms. He wrapped his strong arms tightly around my waist, turning right back around and carrying me straight back to the bed.

He laid me down gently on the mattress and immediately slid down right behind me. He wrapped his arms around me from behind, pulling me close until my back was pressed securely against his chest.

"Sorry, my wifey," he cooed, pouting his lips against the back of my neck.

I wasn't about to give in that easily. I aggressively grabbed the nearest pillow, pulling it over my head to completely cover my face and ears.

"Hey, I'm talking to you," he said, reaching up to tug at the fabric. He tried to pull the pillow away, but I held onto it with all the strength I had left.

"Jay," he called out.

I didn't even blink.

"You know I love you, right? That's the only reason I tease you so much," he said softly.

Hearing that, I couldn't resist peeked out from behind the edge of the pillow to glare at him. Taking immediate advantage of the opening, Keifer snatched the pillow out of my hands and threw it unceremoniously onto the floor.

" 'YoU kNoW I lOvE yOu, ThAt'S wHy I tEaSe YoU,' " I mimicked him in a ridiculous, mocking voice.

Before he could react, I grabbed the second pillow from the bed and smashed it right into his handsome face. "You don't love me anymore, Mark Keifer Watson. I just know it," I declared, quickly crossing my arms over my chest while staying stubbornly glued to the mattress.

"What? Who on earth told you that?" he asked, tossing the pillow aside with a look of utter disbelief.

"My brain," I replied smoothly.

"Well, then your brain is completely wrong," he countered.

"No way. My brain is never wrong," I insisted, lifting my chin.

Keifer let out a soft chuckle. "Oh really? Then why did you get 98 marks instead of a perfect score if your brain is never wrong? Everyone's brain messes up sometimes, Jay. Mine does too. And right now, yours is completely mistaken because I am going to love you until the day scientists finally find the very end of the universe."

My heart did a sudden, stupid little flip inside my chest.

I felt my cheeks burning up again, so I quickly tried to look annoyed to hide it. "Fine! My brain is wrong. Now get off me!" I yelled.

I gave him a sudden, forceful push with both hands. Caught completely off guard, his balance broke, and he tumbled right off the edge of the bed, landing on the floor with a loud thud.

"You know, you really love violence," Keifer groaned from below, rubbing his lower back as he slowly stood up.

He shook his head and started walking toward the door, but instant karma hit him like a truck. He stepped right onto the slick fabric of the pillow he had thrown on the floor earlier. On our smooth bedroom tiles, the pillow acted like a skateboard. His feet slipped right out from under him, and he fell flat on his back onto the floor for the second time.

I completely burst out laughing, pointing at him as he lay there totally defeated on the ground.

"Hoi, stand up now!" I said, laughing at him.

But he didn't move an inch. I slid over to the edge of the bed and lay on my stomach to get a better look at him. His eyes were tightly closed as he lay completely flat on the floor.

Oh, please. Not another one of his pranks.

I rolled my eyes, climbed off the bed, and sat down on the floor right beside him. I reached out and poked his side. No response. I poked him again, a little harder this time.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, his hand shot out and gripped my wrist. Before I could even gasp, he yanked me forward. I completely lost my balance and dropped flat onto his solid chest. Instantly, his strong arm wrapped around my back, locking securely at my waist so I couldn't escape.

"Drama king, what is this behavior?" I asked, pushing my hands against his shoulders and looking up at him.

He didn't answer. He just kept his eyes closed, a soft, content smile spreading across his face.

"You know, people who smile to themselves like that are absolute idiots," I teased.

His eyes fluttered open, looking directly into mine for a brief second before he closed them again, keeping his arms locked around me. What was up with him today?

"Call me an idiot, but just by seeing how you're with me now, and how happy we are... this stupid smile just breaks across my face," he murmured softly.

My heart did a sudden, violent little flip.

"Hoi, you're so incredibly cheesy today! Now let me go," I stammered, feeling my cheeks heating up. I tried to pry his heavy arm off my waist, but his grip only tightened.

"Keifer," I called out.

He opened his eyes, staring up at me. "What?"

"Let go!" I demanded, giving his chest a playful punch.

"Why?" he asked, completely unbothered by my punch.

"Because my back is going to hurt!" I argued.

"How? You're literally resting on my arm," he pointed out smoothly.

I let out a loud sigh, trying to think of another excuse. "Fine, then your back is going to hurt from the hard floor!"

"It's okay. I don't mind," he said, his smile widening.

I rolled my eyes dramatically, but before I could take any further action, the loud ringing of my phone cut through the quiet room. Keifer let out a heavy, disappointed groan, finally loosening his grip. Both of us sat up on the floor. I reached for my phone and saw the caller ID. It was Kuya Angelo.

I pointed a warning finger at Keifer. "Now, do not do anything. It's Kuya," I whispered sharply.

I slid the bar to accept the call. "Hello, Kuya?"

"Hello. When are you coming home? We decided that you two would only get married, not that you would actually stay together yet," Kuya's strict voice boomed through the speaker.

"I'll come this afternoon, Kuya," I replied quickly. I glared at Keifer, who was currently poking my side repeatedly while making the most dramatic, pathetic puppy-dog eyes I had ever seen.

"Hurry up," Kuya ordered.

"Okay, okay," I said, quickly hanging up before Kuya could lecture me any further.

The exact second I set the phone down on the floor, Keifer's arms snaked right back around my waist, pulling me backward against him.

"Hoi, Keifer! Why are you being so clingy since this morning?" I asked, turning my head to look at him.

"You're leaving me?" he asked, his voice dropping into a soft pout.

"We already agreed on this, Watson. We're only married now. We aren't staying together under one roof until we actually graduate," I reminded him gently.

"No," he mumbled stubbornly, burying his face into my shoulder.

"What do you mean, 'no'?" I giggled, trying to wiggle out of his tight hug. "You literally agreed to this agreement with Kuya, remember? Or did your perfect brain suddenly forget that part?"

"I want a refund on that agreement," Keifer muttered, his voice muffled against my shirt. "Graduation is still so far away, Jay. How am I supposed to sleep in this huge, empty house without my stubborn wifey kicking me off the bed?"

"Oh, so now I'm stubborn and I kick?" I asked, raising an eyebrow as I tried to turn around in his grip to face him.

He let go of my waist just enough to let me turn, but immediately locked his hands around my waist again, pulling me close. He looked down at me, his eyes softening as he reached up with one hand to gently tuck a stray strand of hair behind my ear.

"You do kick," he murmured, a small, tender smile playing on his lips. "But I still want you here. The mansion is too quiet when you're not around."

Looking at his sincere expression, my heart softened completely. I hated how he could switch from being a teasing idiot to making me feel like the most precious thing in the world in a split second.

"I'll still see you at school every single day, Keifer," I said softly, placing my hands flat on his chest. "And we have the weekends off. Don't you remember? Friday, Saturday, and Sunday here, and the remaining four days there. It's not like I'm disappearing to another planet."

"Still too far," he grumbled, though the tight line of his shoulders finally relaxed. He leaned forward, resting his forehead gently against mine. "Fine. But you have to promise me one thing."

"What?" I asked, looking into his dark, serious eyes.

"No more cold showers. And absolutely no eating giant tubs of ice cream under the AC when I'm not there to stop you," he demanded, his voice turning protective. "If you get sick at Angelo's house, I'm breaking the agreement and dragging you right back here."

I couldn't help but smile at his worry. "Deal, Mr. Overprotective Watson. Now let me go so I can pack my things."

Instead of letting go, he quickly leaned in and pressed one more soft kiss onto my cheek. "Just five more minutes," he whispered, holding me close against his chest as the warm afternoon sun filtered through the bedroom window.

True to his word, Keifer actually held me for exactly five minutes before finally letting go with a dramatic, heavy sigh.

I stood up, stretching my arms over my head, and dragged myself to the bathroom to get freshened up. After a quick wash, I stepped back into the bedroom and saw him sitting on the edge of the bed, completely frozen in place like a statue. I grabbed my used towel and threw it right at his face.

"Go get freshened up, then make me breakfast," I ordered playfully.

Keifer caught the towel, giving me a lazy nod before heading into the washroom. Once we were both ready, we headed downstairs together. While he got busy in the kitchen, I hopped up and sat right on the edge of the kitchen counter, happily swinging my legs back and forth. Keifer tied an apron around his waist and started mixing batter to make some pancakes.

"What else do you want to eat?" he asked, looking over his shoulder.

"Rice with eggs and ham," I replied instantly.

He nodded and got to work. As he cooked, he kept pacing back and forth in front of me—moving from left to right, right to left, grabbing ingredients from the cabinets. But every single time he passed by the counter, he would stop right in front of me and plant a quick, soft kiss on my cheeks.

"Hoi! What are you doing?" I asked, bursting out laughing as he leaned in to kiss my cheek for the fourth time before grabbing the salt shaker.

"Just taking my advanced reward before I have to let you go," he said smoothly, a small smile playing on his lips.

I chuckled, my heart melting a little. Once breakfast was ready, we sat down together at the table. Even while we were eating, Keifer kept quietly sliding extra pancakes onto my plate whenever I wasn't looking, making sure I ate as much as possible to fully recover from my fever.

After finishing our meal, we both went back upstairs to our room. I dragged the medium-sized suitcase out from the closet and unzipped it on the bed. When I turned around, I saw Keifer sitting on the edge of the mattress, watching me intently with his chin resting in his hand. He honestly looked like a sad puppy watching its owner pack for a trip.

"Don't just sit there looking pretty, Watson. Help me," I said, tossing a neatly folded shirt right at his face.

He caught it effortlessly, but instead of putting it inside the suitcase, he spun around and threw it right back into the closet.

"Hoi!" I snapped, dropping my hands onto my waist. "Why did you do that?"

"I'm helping," he said smoothly, a teasing glint dancing in his dark eyes. "I'm helping you unpack so you don't have to leave."

"Keifer!" I whined, stomping my foot against the floor.

He let out a soft chuckle and finally stood up to help me for real. He started passing me my clothes one by one. But as I was neatly organizing everything inside the bag, my fingers brushed against something thick, soft, and dark.

I pulled it out and stared at it. It was his favorite, oversized black hoodie—the one that practically swallowed me whole whenever I wore it.

I whipped around to face him, holding it up. "Why on earth is your hoodie inside my suitcase?"

Keifer just shrugged, crossing his arms over his chest as a handsome smirk played on his lips. "So my wifey can wear it whenever she misses her husband on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays."

My cheeks flared up in an instant. I opened my mouth to argue, but looking at his stubborn smirk, I knew I wouldn't win this one anyway. Rolling my eyes to hide the huge smile tugging at my lips, I stuffed the giant hoodie right back into the center of my bag.

"Whatever, Watson," I mumbled, pulling the zipper all the way around until it clicked. "Let's go," I said.

The End 🌸.
