Chapter 1 - Too Close to Stay Silent

Chapter 1:

This takes place in the Hidden Leaf Village, after the war had ended and peace had finally returned. Everyone was living happily. Naruto was now around twenty years old, and Hinata had also reached the same age. The two of them were on the same team, handling small missions together.

However, a time came when their team was assigned an important mission. The team consisted of Naruto, Hinata, and their leader, Itachi. They were called by Lady Tsunade, who had a task for them.

Tsunade summoned Itachi to her office and said,

"Take your team to the Sand Village. A spy has infiltrated the area—capture him and bring him back."

Itachi agreed and later met Naruto and Hinata outside, explaining the mission in detail. Afterward, he instructed Naruto and Hinata to proceed ahead on their own. Naruto, filled with enthusiasm, immediately agreed, and Hinata, though slightly nervous, also accepted.

The two of them then set off on their mission.

On the first day of their journey, they stopped at a quiet spot, ate some food, and decided to spend the night there. Naruto quickly fell asleep, exhausted from the travel, but Hinata found herself unable to sleep. The silence of the night and the unfamiliar surroundings made her uneasy.

After a while, she slowly moved closer to Naruto, seeking comfort in his presence, and held onto him gently.

Naruto stirred slightly as he felt her warmth but kept his eyes closed, pretending to remain asleep.

There was an awkward closeness between them now—something unspoken, yet impossible to ignore.

Naruto slowly shifted, his hand resting against her, while Hinata remained still, saying nothing. The quiet night wrapped around them as both of them stayed in that position, neither pulling away.

Time passed like that, and eventually, the night faded into morning.

When they both woke up, there was a strange silence between them. Their eyes avoided each other at first, their faces lightly flushed with embarrassment.

Without saying much, they got ready and continued their journey, carrying forward not just their mission—but also the unspoken tension that had begun to grow between them.

The next day passed quietly as they continued their journey. By the time night fell again, Naruto and Hinata had already covered a good distance. After eating and resting for a while, they decided to sleep under the open sky once more.

The night was calmer than before… yet something between them had subtly changed.

As they lay side by side, Naruto shifted slightly in his sleep, his leg brushing against Hinata's. This time, the closeness lingered. His movements were slow, almost absent-minded, yet they carried a strange warmth.

Hinata's eyes slowly opened.

For a moment, she stayed still, her heartbeat quickening as she became aware of how close they were. The quiet of the night made everything feel more intense… every small movement, every breath.

Naruto stirred as well, his eyes opening shortly after. For a brief second, their gazes met in the dim light.

Neither of them spoke.

There was an awkwardness… but also something deeper—something neither of them could quite put into words.

After a few moments, they both turned slightly away, trying to regain their composure. The rest of the night passed in silence.

Morning came.

Without bringing up what had happened, they prepared themselves and continued forward.

By the next day, they finally reached the Sand Village.

As soon as they arrived, both Naruto and Hinata shifted back into mission mode. Their focus sharpened as they began gathering information, carefully observing their surroundings to locate the infiltrating spy.

Not wanting to act recklessly, they decided to inform Gaara about the situation. Establishing contact, they explained that a spy had entered the Sand Village, possibly targeting both villages.

Now, the mission had truly begun.
