The emergency room was chaos as usual. Monitors beeped frantically, stretchers rolled past, and the smell of antiseptic lingered in the air. Zoya Ahmed moved like she belonged there, fast, precise, instinctive.
"Zoya, stabilize him! I need the oxygen on that patient now!" a nurse shouted near her. Zoya adjusted the IV, but before she could finish, a calm, authoritative voice cut through the chaos. which caused zoya to looked at the direction of the voice, it was ayaan.
"You're going to kill him if you rush like that," said Ayaan, stepping forward, his sharp gaze was fixed on zoya.
Zoya froze for a second "Excuse me? I've handled cases like this before. I don't need a lecture." she replied confidently facing him looking up to his eyes like a challenge. (she is 5'6ft and he is 6ft)
Ayaan's jaw tightened. "And yet you're about to make a rookie mistake. Step back." he shoot back to her then step towards the patient to handle that case but cut off by her firm voice.
"Or maybe you should step back. This patient needs action, not hesitation." she mocked.
The air between them was electric. Nurses exchanged nervous glances, sensing the brewing storm in the room.
From across the room, Zara leaned on the counter, smirking. "Oh, this is going to be good," she whispered to herself enjoying the scene that was going on inside.
"Bro, watch out," Saad Khan said, nudging Ayaan. "She's got fire. Don't let her roast you in front of everyone." he laughed
Ayaan listened what saad said but ignored him for now, focusing on the patient. He motioned to Zoya. "Follow my lead, and maybe he survives this. Fight me later if you want."
Zoya scowled but stepped aside for the sake of the patient she let him handle this case but next time? she would not let him taking the lead.
Ayaan moved with the calm precision that made him seem untouchable. He checked the vitals in a split second, adjusted the oxygen flow, and instructed the nurses with quiet authority. Every movement was deliberate, every decision confident.
Zoya watched him, arms crossed, biting back her urge to interfere, she was keep watching him hoping he'll do a mistake. But deep down she could sense he's really professional but not ready to admit. His hands were steady, his mind sharp, exactly what the patient needed.
"Administer 500 ml saline. Keep an eye on BP," Ayaan said without looking up, his voice firm but controlled.
Zoya caught herself holding her breath as the patient's heart rate stabilized slowly. He moved around the stretcher like a conductor leading a symphony each step intentional, precise.
"Good, keep it steady," he murmured more to himself than anyone else, eyes scanning the monitors like nothing could surprise him.
The tension in the room finally started to ease. Nurses whispered about how smooth the procedure was, and even Zara, leaning on the counter, seemed impressed. Saad nudged Ayaan with a smirk.
"You're calm… too calm," Saad muttered, half-joking.
Ayaan finally looked up at Zoya, and for a moment, their eyes met. Zoya rolled her eyes and start walking outside the room in anger, a whole storm was building inside her head. Zara who was leaning on the counter start walking behind Zoya smilingly bach to Zoya's cabin
AYAAN'S POV:
I saw her storming out of the room with a chuckled. I know she didn't like me interfering in her work but I couldn't stopped my self. A familiar voice came from my side it was saad still standing on his place "bro you literally pissed her off" he commented
I looked at him with dead eyes "don't talk to me I remember what you said before" I said checking the patient his vital is stabilized completely now. "I was doing that to encourage you" saad explained still smiling sheepishly. I give him a side eye before going out then called him "come saad we have to check on patients" saad face light up as he walked behind him "after checking on patients you're gonna treat me, you win inside" he said with a chuckled "you talk too much" I replied to him then that girl came on my ming i thought what she must be doing now? Is she still furious at me?.
