Chapter 5 - The Forgotten Name

The city was quieter than usual.

Even the sounds of cars were distant, as if afraid to approach.

Adam walked through the narrow streets, his footsteps echoing alone.

Layla followed behind, her eyes watching his every move.

"Adam… where are we going?" she asked in a low voice.

He didn't answer.

They entered an abandoned building on the edge of the city, far from the eyes of the regime.

Its walls were covered with dust and old graffiti, some of which pointed to… a secret organization.

Adam stopped in front of an iron panel, took out an old key, and opened a hidden door.

Inside the room… the walls were covered with screens.

Photos, names, files… everything about people who had disappeared from the regime, the silent ones.

Then he stopped abruptly.

On the screen… Adam's name appeared.

But next to it, another name… he had never heard before:

"Murray."

Layla whispered,

"Who is this?"

Adam froze, his eyes widening. "This… can't be…"

Then an old recording played.

A dark room, whispering voices, and a man emerging from the shadows… His face was half-covered, but his eyes were cold, terrifying… inexplicably familiar.

The voice said,

"Welcome at last, Adam… I've been waiting for this moment for a long time."

Adam took a step back:

"Who are you? What do you want?"

The man appeared fully, one look enough to freeze Adam's blood:

"My name is… Murray. And I'm the reason for everything that's happening here."

Layla grabbed Adam's arm:

"How does she know you?"

Adam didn't answer.

Everything seemed familiar… as if a part of his memories was connected to this man, but he didn't know how.

Murray smiled coldly:

"You thought the system was watching you… but the truth is, Adam… I made it all. All the killing, all the emptiness, all the silence… just for you."

Adam felt an indescribable shock.

 "You… why?"

"Because you've been hiding inside yourself for so long… and I've come to show you the truth."

At that moment, the lights went out.

All the screens went black, and the man disappeared… but his voice lingered inside:

"Everything is before you now… choose: be silent, or pay the price."

Layla screamed:

"Adam… what is he doing to you?"

Adam felt something shift inside him… something stronger than emptiness, something that began to take control of his will.

Murray wasn't just an enemy… he was a mirror to Adam.

Everything he feared, everything he ignored, all his inner emptiness… was now present in another person, a being capable of using the same powers of "silence" more powerfully and dangerously.

Adam swallowed hard and said in a low voice:

"If he is… the mirror… then who am I really?"

At that moment, a single message appeared on the screen, brief, but even more terrifying:

"The game has begun now… and the ending will not be what you expect."
